Fixes an issue that could stop your progress syncing to your account. Daily reminders now arrive at 8 PM by default, and a few small polish fixes.

Rescue no longer marks its own mistakes in red. Finding the wrong numbers is the puzzle again, so only a number you enter turns red when it clashes. Fixed a problem that could stop your progress syncing after a casual game. The new modes are easier to spot on the home screen.

Killer Sudoku, a new mode: the grid is cut into dashed cages, each with a small sum in its corner. The numbers in a cage add up to it and never repeat. There are few numbers to start from — the sums are the clues. • Three levels. Easy gives you a few numbers to start from; Medium and Hard give you sums alone, and Hard's cages are the biggest. • A cage's sum turns red the moment its numbers can no longer make it, and tapping a cell lights up its cage. • Killer keeps its own wins and best times, and still counts towards your daily streak. Rescue is quicker now, with three levels instead of four. Harder levels give you fewer clues to check against rather than more of the grid to fix. A shorter first run that takes you straight to the game, and each mode now explains its own rules where you pick it. The daily reminder says plainly what it is for.

Sudoku Rescue: somebody else has already had a go at the puzzle, and they got some of it wrong. Your job is to work out which numbers to trust. Clear their mistakes, keep what is right, and finish the grid. The muted numbers are theirs; yours look like yours. A wrong number does not always clash with anything, so on the harder levels you have to reason it out from the clues — and Expert arrives completely full, with nothing left to fill in, only to fix. • A new Rescue hint with three rungs, all costing a single hint: check an area, find a wrong number, or repair it outright. Take the least you need. • Rescue keeps its own wins and best times, so your Classic record stays exactly as you left it. • A rescue still counts towards your daily streak. • Classic and Rescue share the home screen now, and Expert is one tap away in both. Also fixed: a board no longer opens with the previous game's row still highlighted, and VoiceOver no longer reads out a star rating on a screen that has none. Have fun saving them.

Your streak now counts every puzzle you finish, not only the Daily Challenge. • Harder puzzles and the Daily Challenge are worth more XP, so a tough solve finally pays like one. • Your level and your rank follow your account to a new device instead of starting over. • A shorter first run, and you can pick the exact time your daily reminder arrives. • The Daily tab is simpler: one streak, and the calendar for the rest. This update also fixes a long list of things you told us about, and a few you could not have: • Premium subscribers no longer glimpse an advert while the app is starting up. • Highlighting keeps up with the board — type or erase a number and the matching squares light up straight away. • Starting a new puzzle from the home screen no longer quietly loses the one you were playing. • Losing a ranked game and tapping New Game keeps you in Ranked. • Your statistics can no longer be rolled back by another device that has been offline. • The leaderboard opens while your email is still being verified, instead of waiting forever. • Faster launch, a smoother board, and a much quieter battery while the clock is running.
