Auto Profiles is the control plane for your Mac. Like a pilot setting the autopilot, you configure your rules once, then your Mac flies itself: switching its setup automatically based on where you are, what is connected, and what time it is, no manual switching required.
You are in the cockpit. Set the rules, then let it fly.
HOW IT WORKS
Create a profile, choose what should trigger it, and choose what it does. When the trigger matches, the profile runs its actions automatically.
TRIGGERS
- Wi-Fi network you join
- Location and geofenced regions (arrive or leave)
- Time of day and time windows (schedule-based rules)
- Day of the week (weekdays, weekends, or specific days)
- Bluetooth device connects or disconnects
- Headphones plugged into or out of the jack
- Laptop lid opened or closed
- A specific external display attached, any external display, or none
- Audio output device changes (a specific speaker or headset)
- Power source changes (on battery or plugged into the charger)
- Wired or Ethernet connection becomes active
- IP address in a range, local or public
- A disk or volume is mounted (such as a specific external drive)
- A specific USB device is attached
- Battery level crosses a threshold (low battery or charging back up)
- Low Power Mode switches on or off
- System appearance switches to Dark or Light mode
- Time zone changes (such as when traveling or when macOS auto-adjusts)
ACTIONS
- Set your wallpaper, including your own custom images
- Launch apps
- Open a website or URL in any installed browser
- Run a shortcut from the Shortcuts app
- Switch the audio output device, set the volume, or mute
- Switch the microphone (audio input) or mute it
- Change the keyboard input source (language or layout)
- Set the default printer
- Mount a network share (SMB, AFP, NFS, WebDAV, and more)
- Keep your Mac, or just the display, awake
- Send a notification
- Play a sound
- Hide a running app
- Open a file or folder, or reveal it in Finder
- Speak text aloud using any installed voice
