Landscape Photography Helper for Mac is a desktop version built independently for macOS, not an iPad-compatible version. It takes advantage of the Mac's large display, keyboard, and mouse to make it easier to predict the positions of the sun, moon, Milky Way, and other celestial objects, and to create complete landscape photography plans.
You can view key astronomical paths and timing information on the map, use VR and the 3D compass to understand celestial directions, and combine detailed data to plan your camera position, direction, timing, and shooting strategy. Compared with mobile devices, the Mac version offers a more efficient experience for map navigation, numeric input, timeline adjustment, and reviewing multiple types of information side by side.
The Mac version also includes several desktop-only convenience features. You can measure the distance between two locations directly on the map and quickly check the elevation of any point. In the VR view, you can right-click anywhere in the scene to search for the exact time when the sun or moon passes through that position. Combined with composition guide lines, this helps you find the ideal moment when the sun or moon aligns with your planned composition.
After saving a shooting plan, you can use the connection between the Mac and iOS versions to send the plan seamlessly to your iPhone. When you arrive on location, you can carry the plan with you on your phone and quickly check the camera position and shooting time.
The Mac version includes most of the core features of the iOS version except AR, making it an efficient desktop tool for planning landscape, night sky, sunrise, sunset, moonrise, and moonset photography.
New in this Mac version, the Timelapse Composer lets you turn photo sequences into finished videos. You can import images or folders, sort frames by filename or shooting time, choose frame rate, 1080p/4K resolution, landscape/portrait/square crop, codec and color space, and use deflicker, color smoothing, stabilization, plus basic exposure and white-balance adjustments before exporting.
