KanaSprout: Japanese for Kids
Hiragana & katakana, at play
Free · In‑App Purchases · Designed for iPad. Not verified for macOS.
■ A first new language, learned through play
KanaSprout is a first-language drill app for children aged 6–8 meeting
Japanese for the very first time. From hiragana and katakana to basic
words and greetings, short 5–10 minute play rounds keep it gentle —
no time pressure, success first.
■ See it, hear it, trace it
Big letters and clear sound teach each character, and tracing the
stroke order with a finger helps the shape stick. Listen-and-choose
and whole-word play build those first words naturally.
■ No ads. No data collected.
KanaSprout shows no advertising and collects or transmits no personal
data from your child whatsoever. All learning stays on the device —
so parents can hand it over with confidence.
■ Purchases are for grown-ups
Subscription and settings screens open only after a parental check
(a simple math problem). Children can't buy or wander off on their own.
■ Offline, anywhere
No account needed — learn even on a plane.
One letter a day, together with PiPi.
■ Subscription details

Ratings & Reviews
- This app hasn’t received enough ratings or reviews to display an overview.
Japanese learners now have 8 situation lessons, 5 new (zoo, breakfast, family, classroom, bedtime), each with a scene picture, on redesigned screens where a tapped card shows at once if it's wrong. New letters get a short intro (see, hear, say, trace) before the quiz. The map ends with a goal flag; numbers 0–10 show dots. Parents get a next step and plan contents in the report, restore results, a product reload button, and Leave a review in Settings. New installs open in the device language.
