What's new in 1.4.7: Today opens faster. It now starts from your last known spot while it finds your location. The Bombers game is back on the scores ticker. Tonight in Winnipeg has photos for Eat, Stay and After Dark, a featured dish or amenity, and clear links to each place. The flight board shows airline badges with time, flight, airline, destination and status. Clearer icons, a Halloween touch on Events, and a Manitoba 511 credit under the OpenMB Licence.

Security and stability updates behind the scenes. Everything works the same as before.

Address suggestions: start typing a house number and street, then tap your address from the list. On Alerts, pick an address to see what is near it. "My location" on Commute now finds you right away and fills in the street you are on. Notifications have one clear on and off switch. The Quiet hours switch, which did nothing, is gone. Bombers scores show faster on game day. A small sponsor spot on Today. No ad network and no tracking.

Upcoming Winnipeg Jets and Blue Bombers matchups stay visible between game days. See game dates, start times, live Jets scores and final results on Today. Scores refresh while you view the screen and when you return to the app. During Bombers games, open CFL.ca for live scores.

Map engine update with a security fix for the map attribution display. Also keeps the Today-screen events strip and everything else from 1.4.2.

See upcoming Winnipeg events on the Today screen. Tap Events to browse dates, venues and official event links. This update also clarifies the in-app privacy information.

The weather card is gone from Your Signals. The temperature at the top of the Today screen already opened the same weather sheet, so you were looking at two doors into one room. Weather warnings still reach you through the City Signal hero and the Alerts tab. Fire responses now clear off the red city ticker after a day instead of sitting there for two. The provincial emergency card now opens the official Manitoba Ready website.

Tonight in Winnipeg: fresh picks every week for where to eat, a night away, and what's on after dark. See how far each spot is from you, vote with a thumbs up or down, and read notes from other readers. Reader notes are reviewed before they appear. You can remove a note you sent, and report any note that doesn't belong.

Police news is easier to read. The headline now sits across the full width of the card instead of being cut off partway, and it holds still long enough to read rather than scrolling past. The city alert and police news sections no longer sit right on top of each other moving at the same speed, which made them hard to tell apart.

New: Police news. Recent news releases from the Winnipeg Police Service now appear on the Today screen, in their own section separate from city alerts. Tap any headline to read the full release on winnipeg.ca. Fixed: city alerts were not coming through. Fire responses, gas leaks and road disruptions posted by the City were being dropped before they ever reached the app. They show up again now. Better road coverage. The app now picks up City notices about traffic changes, detours, lane closures and service interruptions, not just full closures. Smaller fixes to how headlines and timestamps are shown.

Emergency awareness update. When a serious provincial emergency alert covers Winnipeg, the Today screen now shows an amber heads-up banner pointing you to the official Manitoba Ready app for details. On a quiet day you will not see it at all. New Manitoba Hydro power outage card on Today: see at a glance how many outages are active in Winnipeg and which neighbourhoods are affected, with a tap-through to Hydro's official outage map. Small layout refinements on the Today screen.

Privacy and reliability update. Clearer wording about how the app uses your location, right in the app and in our privacy policy. Your saved places now stay strictly on your phone. They are excluded from cloud backups, so they never leave the device. Address lookups are faster thanks to smarter caching, and the app's connection to our servers got an extra layer of abuse protection. Under-the-hood security hardening throughout.

Winnipeg Today comes to Winnipeg Signal. The Today screen now opens with a city score and one plain line for each thing that could get in your way: roads, your buses, parking bans, weather, and garbage day. A new Highways card covers the five major routes in and out of Winnipeg, with closures now and winter driving conditions when the season comes. During an extreme cold or heat warning, the app points you to 211 for a warm or cool place. Plus an optional morning reminder at a time you pick, so you catch your Winnipeg Today before you head out.

Featured local events on the Today screen now update instantly, so you never miss what's on in Winnipeg. First up: the Burt Block Party, August 13 to 16 outside the Burton Cummings Theatre.

Folklorama comes to Winnipeg Signal: a countdown to the festival, and during Folklorama a Today screen card stepping through tonight's pavilions with show times. A new city alert strip shows official police, fire, and closure notices, with a heads-up when one is near you. Plus more reliable location and a fix for pop-up sheets.

See live departures and arrivals at Winnipeg Richardson International on the Today screen. A new For Kids tile shows children's activities from Winnipeg museums and libraries. A shorter nearby list with a Show more button, and a slightly brighter look that's easier to read.

Garbage and recycling reminders. Turn one on in Profile and Signal will nudge you the night before or the morning of your collection day. Winter parking warnings. Signal now knows your snow plow zone and warns you when an overnight residential parking ban is on, so you can move your car before 7 AM. Transit disruption alerts. If you ride the bus, Signal watches the routes near your saved places and tells you when one is on a detour, delayed, or cancelled.

Live highway cameras from Manitoba 511. Check real road conditions around Winnipeg, and along the highways out to the lake or out west, before you head out. A cleaner, easier to read map. Weather warnings now stand out right away. The home screen and the Alerts tab turn red so you catch a tornado, thunderstorm, or hail warning fast. Plus a new spot for featured local events.
