Cards with Grandpa
Hand and Foot, with family
Free · Designed for iPad. Not verified for macOS.
The family card game Hand and Foot — play a full five-round match against a smart AI on your own phone, or against your family at your own private table.
Cards with Grandpa is the family card game Hand and Foot, made for the people who actually play it.
It was made for one person in particular: my grandpa, who loves Hand and Foot but doesn't always have a fourth for the table. Now the game is always ready.
PLAY ON YOUR OWN
Everything you need is already on your phone. No sign-up, no account, no connection required.
• Big, clear cards and one large action button — draw, meld and discard without hunting around.
• Tap cards and tap a book to lay them down. No fiddly dragging.
• A live lay-down meter shows how many points you need this round and how close you are.
• Stuck? A gentle hint suggests a good move, with optional spoken guidance.
A REAL OPPONENT
The computer opponent was trained by playing millions of games against itself, so it actually plays well — it melds, builds red and black books, and races you to go out. Five-round matches with running scores, just like at the kitchen table.
PLAY WITH YOUR FAMILY
Multiplayer works a little differently here, and the difference is the point. There is no lobby full of strangers. Each family plays at a private table of its own, and you join one by tapping an invite link from someone already there. Turn-by-turn play, standings, and a notification when it's your turn.
There is no chat and no messaging. The only thing you type is the name you want your family to see.
Our family's house rules, faithfully. Deal the cards and play.
