MORE WITH VIVACE PRO
• Volume Normalization: one switch reduces loudness differences between songs, using existing tags or automatic analysis on your device.
• DSD (.dsf/.dff) playback, decoded to PCM.
• Custom 10- and 31-band EQ, parametric filters, AutoEq profiles and EQ per output device.
• Automatic online lyrics through LRCLIB, listening stats, all themes, Smart Playlists and unlimited ordinary playlists.
• Optional iCloud Backup & Sync for music and library metadata, using your private iCloud account and available storage.
• Ad removal and headphone crossfeed on supported routes.
AI SUGGESTIONS, YOUR CHOICE
Add AI suggestions to an ordinary playlist for Driving, Gym, a mood or your own activity. Use the songs already there and optional examples to guide it. Search songs, artists and albums, listen in Preview, then select what to add. Remove saved songs and keep using normal playlist controls. Feedback does not replace your preview; refresh when you are ready.
Recommendations use your library's metadata, sampled audio characteristics and feedback on this device. Audio and activity descriptions are not uploaded to an AI provider. AI functions require active Pro; existing playlist songs remain playable under their format entitlements. Activity preferences and Home layout stay on this device.
The free iPhone/iPad player includes a browsing banner and occasional full-screen ads at eligible app openings. Full-screen ads are not presented during playback. Pro also works in the native Mac app with the same Apple Account.
Monthly and annual subscriptions renew automatically until canceled. Lifetime is a one-time purchase. Current localized prices and eligible offers appear before purchase. Trials are available only when offered by the App Store for your account. Manage subscriptions in Apple Account settings; restore purchases in Vivace.
Output depends on the file, sound settings and connected hardware. Gapless transitions require compatible formats and processing; normalization can introduce a short gap when songs need different adjustments. Bluetooth and AirPlay may convert audio.

Make your next listening session easier:
• Start a personal mix from Home with Focus, Relax, Gym or Driving.
• Choose Play Similar from a song menu to find related music in your library.
• Add example songs and use Fits / Doesn’t fit to shape each mood on this device, with Undo when needed.
• Turn on continuous listening or save a mix as a playlist.
• Use Quick Play for saved activities.
Mood suggestions start as exploratory selections and become more personal with your examples and feedback. Creating recommendations requires Vivace Pro; playing saved activities keeps its existing access.
1.0.39 Oct 6
• New songs start from the beginning, including playlist transitions.
• Vivace Pro prepares and saves loudness measurements on your device. Turn on Volume Normalization to reduce loudness differences between songs.
• Compare Pro plans with clear yearly savings and localized prices.
• Added Arabic, Hebrew, Urdu and more languages, covering all App Store languages.
• Improvements to importing music, Pro setup and subscription status.
1.0.38 Oct 1
• Discover Pro features from Home and open Custom Equalizer, Smart Playlists and Listening Stats directly.
• Pro members can revisit setup from Membership.
• Unfinished Pro setup now resumes after restarting Vivace.
1.0.37 Sep 26
• New in Pro: sort playlists by title, artist, album, recently added or year. Undo Sort restores your previous order.
• Manual playlist editing remains free.
• Sorting preserves songs that are still restoring from iCloud.
1.0.36 Sep 24
Make your music easier to find, organize and enjoy.
• Customize Home and pin your playlists, with Manage Music close at hand.
• Revisit recent Library searches. On iPhone and iPad, Done closes the keyboard and suggestions while keeping your results.
• Use one On/Off switch for Volume Normalization in Pro. Songs without loudness tags are analyzed on your device.
• Repeat an entire playlist or your current queue, with improved playback recovery after the queue finishes.
• See which playlists already contain a song, then add or remove it in one place.
• Add AI suggestions to ordinary playlists in Pro. Listen in Preview, review saved songs, and choose what to add. Feedback waits for you to refresh suggestions.
• Improved widget playback-state updates and DSD preparation feedback.
• Improved legacy Chinese and Japanese tag decoding for new imports, with safeguards for Western text.
• Import matching local .lrc lyrics from folders when embedded lyrics are absent. Sidecars must already be available locally; loose file picks and CUE split tracks are excluded.
1.0.35 Sep 21
New Pro Activity Playlists turn music you already own into personal mixes for Driving, Gym, a mood or your own activity. Choose optional examples, preview, keep or exclude songs, and give feedback specific to each activity. Personalization stays on your device.
Shuffle now remembers your choice independently of Reopen Last Track, including when no song is loaded. New Now Playing and Quick Access widgets bring playback controls and selected destinations to iPhone, iPad and native Mac, subject to system background rules.
This update also includes the pending DSD decoding/preparation, queue-editing, subscription renewal and analytics-consent fixes. No streaming catalog or separate AI subscription is introduced.
1.0.34 Sep 17
iPad, properly
• Vivace now uses a sidebar on iPad instead of the iPhone's two tabs, so your library, For You, Favourites, Manage Library and Settings are all one tap away.
• Text and controls no longer stretch the full width of a large screen, so the layout stays comfortable to read.
Your music, your folders
• Choose how Vivace adds your music. When you add a folder or files, Vivace now asks whether to copy them in or play them where they are. Playing in place uses no extra storage; a copy keeps playing even if the original folder goes away.
• Change your mind as often as you like. Any source can be switched between using your original files and keeping a copy inside Vivace — individually added songs too.
• Songs Vivace can no longer find can be pointed back at their folder instead of only deleted.
Playback reliability
• Music is steadier. If starting a track ever failed silently, Vivace could show "playing" with no sound at all. More of those failures are now caught, and Vivace recovers instead of sitting there.
• Skipping is more honest. If a track cannot be opened, Next no longer looks like it did nothing while the queue quietly moved on.
• Editing the queue while paused now does what you expect. "Play Next", removing from Up Next and turning on shuffle no longer play the wrong song next.
• The visualiser no longer goes flat after your audio device changes.
Wording, VoiceOver and privacy
• The delete confirmations no longer quote a button that is not on screen — in every language.
• VoiceOver improvements: the A–Z index is now a proper adjustable control, the playback position is spoken in your own language, and two upgrade buttons that were silent now announce themselves.
• An advertising library Vivace no longer uses has been removed from the app entirely.
1.0.26 Aug 21
Playback reliability
• Fixed a bug where Vivace could show "playing" while producing no sound at all. The transport and the position readout would freeze, and only changing track brought it back. Vivace now notices within a second and restarts playback by itself; if that does not work it shows an honest paused state instead of pretending to play.
• Changing track does far less work. A song is never read more than once at a time, and reading stops for songs you have already skipped past. Most noticeable on long tracks and with Crossfade switched on.
Search
• Searching is fast again in every non-English library. Every keystroke used to re-process your whole library; that work is now done once and reused, making search quicker than it has ever been. Greek, Thai, Turkish, Russian, Chinese, Japanese, German, French and Spanish libraries were all affected.
• Search results now refresh correctly after you edit a song's genre or composer.
1.0.23 Aug 19
Get back the space your library was using twice.
• Already added a folder? Manage Library now offers "Use my original files" — Vivace plays those songs from your own files instead of its copies, and gives the copied space back. Your originals are never moved, changed or deleted.
• Each folder can now be included in or left out of iCloud Backup & Sync.
• Imports check free space before they start, and tell you plainly when a file arrives damaged or a folder can't be reached.
• Restore Purchases now reports what happened instead of doing nothing visible.
1.0.22 Aug 18
Smoother browsing, a free Crossfeed preview, and two fixes.
• Now Playing: hear Headphone Crossfeed free for five minutes. It is offered with headphones on and music playing, which is the only way to actually hear what it does, and it reverts on its own when the five minutes are up.
• Listening Stats: Top Artists, Songs and Albums now have Show all. They were capped at five with no way past them.
• Browsing is smoother. Albums, Artists, Genres, Composers, Years and Folders no longer re-sort your whole library every time the track changes.
• Fixed a crossfade that could stall while you were scrolling, leaving two tracks briefly audible at once until you lifted your finger.
1.0.21 Aug 16
New: Smart Playlists, plus stability and library-integrity fixes from real reports.
• Smart Playlists (Pro): playlists that build themselves from rules — artist, album, genre, composer, year, rating, play count or audio quality — and stay up to date as your library grows. A live match count shows what your rules select before you save.
• Fixed a crash: opening Manage Library while music was playing could pin the CPU and get Vivace shut down by the system. Large libraries were hit hardest.
• Fixed songs that stopped partway and skipped to the next. Some files copy in damaged — the right size, but with gaps — and Vivace was accepting them silently. Imports are now verified, and damaged copies are rejected and reported.
• New: Manage Library ▸ Check for Damaged Files finds any that were already imported, so you can remove them and copy them again.
• Bluetooth and car controls respond more reliably — play, pause, next and previous now take effect immediately instead of queueing behind other work.
• Listening Stats is richer: hi-res vs lossless vs lossy, top genres and decades.
1.0.20 Aug 15
Search and setup fixes, plus the paywall now behaves itself.
• A purchase that fails or needs approval finally tells you so, instead of leaving the button spinning in silence.
• Importing music reports what actually happened. If nothing was found, Vivace now names the formats it plays.
• Fewer, better-timed Pro suggestions — and the one shown after a big import is now about backing that library up.
• If your subscription is set not to renew, Vivace says so and shows exactly what you keep and until when.
1.0.19 Aug 14
Search now puts the best match first.
Type a song's name and that song is at the top, with album and artist matches after it. A coincidental match in the middle of a word no longer outranks the thing you actually typed.
Accents no longer hide your music. Typing "beyonce" finds Beyoncé and "bjork" finds Björk, and the A–Z index files them under B instead of #.
The keyboard has a way out. There is now a Done button above it, and tapping anywhere else dismisses it — including the number pad you get when editing a track's Year, Track # or Disc #, which has no return key of its own.
1.0.18 Aug 14
Vivace now speaks 37 languages.
• New: 26 more languages, from Nederlands and Polski to Suomi, Türkçe, Ελληνικά, ไทย, Tiếng Việt and हिन्दी — the whole app, not just the menus.
• New: Ad Privacy. In the EEA, the UK and Switzerland, Vivace now asks before any ad is personalised — and everyone, everywhere, can change that choice at any time in Settings › Privacy. Say no and the ads keep coming; they are simply not tailored to you.
• If a subscription payment fails, Vivace now tells you and gives you one tap to fix it, instead of quietly letting Pro lapse.
• Fixed: album art that failed to load left an empty square instead of the placeholder.
• Now Playing switches covers instantly when you skip. If you preferred the slide, turn on Settings › Appearance › Slide Album Art.
• Manage Library now shows what Vivace's own caches are using — and those caches no longer take up room in your iCloud backup.
• Fixed: after Pro lapsed, a device you had never tuned could push its settings over one you had.
If something reads wrong in your language, please tell us — we would rather fix it than guess.
1.0.17 Aug 13
Faster, tidier, and more yours.
• Switching songs from the library list is much smoother — we cut the main-thread work per track change by more than half on a large library.
• Lyrics now take their colour from the album art, matching the spectrum and the waveform instead of always being amber.
• Tapping a search result now plays it inside your full song list, so playback carries on into the next song instead of stopping. You can switch this off in Settings › Library.
• New: Player Buttons. Choose which controls appear on Now Playing — including hiding the like and dislike buttons. Presets for Classic, No Ratings and Minimal, or arrange your own.
Thanks to the listeners who sent recordings and files — three of these came straight from you.
1.0.16 Aug 11
Fixes missing lyrics, volume levelling and song details on M4A, ALAC, AAC and MP3 files — and duplicate songs when you rescan.
• Embedded lyrics now appear. If your files have lyrics saved inside them, Vivace reads them, including time-synced lyrics that scroll with the music. These were being skipped entirely on M4A, ALAC and AAC files.
• Lyrics for the next song are fetched ahead of time, so they are already on screen the moment it starts instead of appearing a few seconds in.
• Volume levelling works again. ReplayGain tags in M4A and MP3 files were never being read, so the setting quietly did nothing for those tracks; albums and playlists now play at a consistent level.
• Genre, composer, year, album artist and track and disc numbers are now read properly too, including the genre format iTunes writes, so albums keep their running order and browsing by genre or composer works as it should.
• Your existing library is repaired automatically the first time you open this version. Nothing to re-import.
• Rescanning no longer re-adds music you already have. If you renamed or reorganised folders on your computer, Vivace now recognises the songs it already imported instead of adding a second copy of each one.
• Songs you move or rename keep everything. Ratings, play counts and playlist spots stay with the song rather than being left behind on a stale duplicate.
• Adding a folder you've already linked behaves like a rescan, so re-adding it picks up what's new without duplicating the rest.
• Tapping Rescan while an import is still running no longer imports the same songs twice.
1.0.15 Aug 4
A redesigned player page, lyrics that turn up when they should, and Pro you can try before you buy.
• Lyrics on the cover, redesigned — the panel now matches the album art it replaces instead of sitting in a box that changed shape, shows far more lines at once, fades softly at the edges rather than cutting words in half, and uses the album's own artwork as its background.
• A new button in the player's top bar switches between the album art and the lyrics, so you no longer have to know to tap the cover.
• Fixed the first song you play after opening the app often showing "No lyrics found" when lyrics were available. If a song's lyrics arrive later, the player page now picks them up on its own.
• Fixed a song's lyrics being given up on permanently after a single moment of bad signal.
• Fixed skipping quickly through songs briefly showing "No lyrics found" before the lyrics appeared. Skipping now waits until you settle on a song before looking.
• Songs whose files aren't tagged now show a proper name and artist instead of the raw file name, so "01-bruno_mars-24k_magic" reads as "24k Magic" by Bruno Mars.
• Removed the track number some albums repeat inside the song title itself ("01 What's Your Flava…"), which also stopped those songs from ever finding lyrics. Songs that really do start with a number, like "2 Steps Back", are left alone.
• Try headphone crossfeed free for five minutes, on your own headphones — and now on Bluetooth too, not just wired. Open the Equalizer and tap "Hear it now".
• The same five-minute preview for per-device EQ: tune a curve, switch output device, and watch Vivace remember a separate one for each.
• The Equalizer now says which device you're editing.
• Fewer full-screen ads — at most one per session, and never until you've really used the app.
• Chinese: crossfeed was mistranslated as 串音 ("crosstalk") in several places. It now reads 交叉馈送 / 交叉饋送 throughout.
Thank you to everyone who wrote in — please keep the suggestions coming.
1.0.14 Jul 30
Lyrics on the cover, and a clearer library — most of this update came from your suggestions.
• Lyrics on the album art — tap the cover on Now Playing to flip it to synced lyrics, and tap again to flip back. Tap any line to jump to it.
• Long song and album names no longer get cut off, and the album now has a line of its own — a big improvement for Chinese titles.
• Bigger album art, plus a new Show Visualizer switch: turn the spectrum off and its space goes to the artwork.
• Sample rate, bit depth and bitrate now show on every song row, not just in Track Info.
• Format badges are easier to read, with their own colour per codec — and ALAC files inside .m4a are now correctly identified as lossless instead of lossy.
• Fixed a 320kbps track showing as 319kbps.
• Fixed music sometimes not resuming after another app interrupted it for a while.
Thank you to everyone who wrote in — please keep the suggestions coming.
1.0.13 Jul 29
Lyrics that went missing are back.
• Fixed: a brief drop in signal could permanently stop a song from ever finding its lyrics again — even well-known tracks. Songs affected by this will look again automatically.
• New: Scan a folder in the Library Manager to add music you have added, and remove music you have deleted.
• Fixed: searching for something with no matches showed a blank screen instead of "No Results".
• Clearer: the crossfade slider is now labelled "Crossfade Length", and Smart Timing explains that it keeps your chosen length and only moves the blend onto the music.
• Fixed: DSD tracks whose decode was interrupted could play short forever, and deleting a DSD track now frees the space it used.
• Smoother transitions between tracks recorded at different sample rates.
1.0.10 Jul 21
• Crossfade — tracks now blend smoothly into one another, the way Apple Music does
• Smart Timing — trims silent intros and outros so the blend lands on the music, not the gaps
• Transitions setting — choose Auto (gapless), Crossfade, or Off
• Instant, gap-free Next/Previous in Auto mode
• Fixed DSD playback for DSDIFF (.dff) files — SACD-style rips now decode correctly
• Sharper, fully localized interface across English, 简体中文 and 繁體中文
• Restore Purchases now recognizes restored themes
• Extra stability and polish throughout
Enjoy your music, exactly as recorded.
1.0.9 Jul 16
NEW IN 1.0.8
• Full Simplified & Traditional Chinese localization
• Premium accent themes are now included with Vivace Pro — Pro unlocks every theme, one membership
• Tidier, cleaner equalizer layout
• Fixed the "watch a video for 24 hours of Pro" reward so it reliably unlocks ad-free listening
As always: bit-perfect local playback of FLAC, ALAC, WAV, AIFF, DSD and more — your files, no streaming, no accounts.
Enjoying Vivace? A rating genuinely helps a small indie developer keep the updates coming. Questions, or a format you'd love us to support? We read every message — reach out any time. Thank you for listening.
Audiophile playback: a bit-transparent default signal path, a live output-rate readout in Now Playing, sharper DSD filtering, and automatic EQ clip protection.
Now with Light mode (Settings → Appearance), a one-tap jump to the currently-playing song in your library, and a smoother real-time spectrum visualizer.
1.0.8 Jul 14
• New premium accent themes — Vaporwave, Midnight Aurora, 24K Gold, Noir, Galaxy and Sakura. Buy them individually or unlock all with the Premium Theme Pack.
• The A–Z fast-scroll index moved to the left edge, clear of the scrollbar, with “#” at the top.
• Fixes and refinements throughout.
