Powerful GIS app for GeoJSON

Free · In‑App Purchases

Powerful GIS for iPad. Inspect, edit, style, analyse, and export spatial data in offline projects. Touch- and Apple Pencil-friendly, away from the desk. Meridian is a local-first GIS workspace for iPad: open, inspect, edit, style, analyse, validate, and export spatial data in local project files, built for map-first GIS work away from the desk. FREE TO TRY, ONE-TIME PRO UNLOCK Download free and work on your own data within free-tier limits. A single one-time Meridian Pro purchase lifts those limits and unlocks analysis tools, the Workflow Builder, charts, and PDF output. No account, no subscription. LOCAL PROJECTS, OFFLINE Your work lives in local .gispad packages that open and edit completely offline. No analytics - your data stays on your iPad unless you share it. A MAP-FIRST, TOUCH WORKSPACE A full-bleed MapLibre map with floating controls that stay out of the way. Draw and edit with touch and Apple Pencil, with a precision loupe. Squeeze Apple Pencil Pro for a tool palette at your fingertip. Use online basemaps, local PMTiles, or a no-network coordinate grid. INSPECT AND EDIT Fast attribute tables with find and replace, a feature inspector, field forms, and attribute editing. Draw and edit points, lines, polygons, and rectangles with snapping, vertex editing, split, merge, and undo/redo. Fill text fields by scanning a label or barcode with the camera, or on iPadOS 27 by writing with Apple Pencil - both validated like typing. FIELD WORK Record GPS tracks as you walk, with honest pause and resume and one-tap Share as GPX; with Meridian Pro a track keeps recording while the screen is locked, visible on the Lock Screen. Guided capture records GPS-averaged points and streamed lines with the layer's own form. Import geotagged photos and attach photos to features without leaking into exports. Read positions as decimal degrees, DMS, UTM, or MGRS from Go To, with ground elevation when 3D terrain is on. RASTER, TERRAIN, AND TIME Import GeoTIFF rasters with hillshade, slope, and colour relief presets. Turn on 3D terrain with adjustable exaggeration. Animate layers through time with a slider driven by date fields, and author labels and symbology with expressions. IMPORT, EXPORT, AND CONNECTED DATA Import GeoJSON, CSV, GeoPackage, KML/KMZ, GPX, Shapefile, and read-only Esri File Geodatabase. Add public data from Natural Earth, OpenStreetMap, US Census, and GeoNames, or import a copy from OGC API - Features, WFS, and ArcGIS Feature Services. Export clean GeoJSON, GeoPackage, KML/KMZ, GPX, Shapefile, and CSV+WKT, checked by an export inspector. CRS-AWARE Layers are stored in WGS84. Meridian detects projected data on import, transforms common systems and UTM zones, and offers Define-CRS and reproject tools with per-layer provenance and an in-app CRS guide. ANALYSIS AND WORKFLOWS Buffer (outward, inward, or a ring between), clip, dissolve, convex hull, spatial join, select by location, density, network reachability, summarize within, hot spot analysis, spatial autocorrelation, mean centre, interpolation, tessellations, spatial binning, and points-to-line/multipart conversions. Chain tools in a visual Workflow Builder and rerun the saved chain later. Select features with an expression and keep it as the layer's filter in one tap. STYLE, CHARTS, AND REPORTS Single-symbol, categorized, and graduated styling with custom marker shapes, patterns, heatmaps, extrusion, clustering, and offline labels. Charts that link back to your selection. Markup notes that never change your data, a PDF map layout, and multi-page Map Brief reports. ASK IN PLAIN LANGUAGE Type a request and the on-device command planner proposes a reviewable plan, then opens the right tool filled in. With Apple Intelligence, Apple's on-device model can read your request first - still checked by the same planner, still on your device. Nothing runs until you confirm. ONE UNIVERSAL APP A scoped iPhone companion views projects, toggles layers, edits attributes, and drops a note. Full editing lives on iPad. Meridian is a focused, local-first companion, not a replacement for desktop or enterprise GIS.

Meridian 1.2 adds raster and terrain, a time slider, expressions, spatial statistics, a field collection kit, scan-and-handwrite input, coordinate formats, and deeper Siri, Shortcuts, and widget support. RASTER AND 3D TERRAIN Import GeoTIFF rasters as map layers with rendering presets — hillshade, slope, and colour relief. Turn on 3D terrain with adjustable exaggeration and see your vector data draped over a real land surface. TIME SLIDER Layers with date fields can be animated through time. Scrub the slider or press play to watch your data change, and export the current moment as a normal view of the layer. EXPRESSIONS Author labels, colors, selections, and calculated fields with expressions — field references, arithmetic, string and date functions, CASE WHEN, and geometry measures like area and length. A shared editor with live validation and preview backs all of them. SPATIAL STATISTICS New analysis tools join the set: hot spot analysis (Getis-Ord Gi*), IDW interpolation to vector grids, Voronoi diagrams and Delaunay triangulations, and spatial binning with counts and field aggregates. FIELD COLLECTION KIT Guided capture records GPS-averaged points and streamed lines and polygons straight into a layer's own form. With Meridian Pro, tracks can keep recording in the background with a Live Activity on the Lock Screen, and geofence alerts notify you on arrival at places you flag. SCAN AND HANDWRITE INTO FIELDS Tap Scan beside a text field to read a printed label, serial number, or barcode with the camera — only the text you tap is kept, nothing is stored or uploaded. On iPadOS 27, write into text and number fields and markup notes with Apple Pencil; recognition runs on the device and the result goes through the same validation as typing. COORDINATES AND ELEVATION Show positions as decimal degrees, degrees-minutes-seconds, degrees-decimal-minutes, UTM, or MGRS everywhere — the readout, bookmarks, the inspector — and paste any of them into Go To. With 3D terrain on, the readout and the Pencil hover card show the ground elevation. BUFFER DIRECTION AND EXPRESSION FILTERS Buffer inward, outward, or keep only the ring between. Select features with an expression, then keep that expression as the layer's definition filter with one tap. APPLE-NATIVE SURFACE Quick Look thumbnails for .gispad projects, Spotlight search, App Shortcuts for opening projects, running workflows, and exporting briefs, a recent-projects widget you can now pin to one project, and Apple Pencil hover previews on the map canvas. On iPadOS 27, workflows run from Shortcuts report progress instead of stopping at 30 seconds, and Siri can open the project you are looking at. Squeeze Apple Pencil Pro to open a tool palette at the pen. Swipe layer and table rows for Zoom To and Delete, and drag layers with the system's own reordering. COMMAND PLANNER WITH APPLE INTELLIGENCE On devices with Apple Intelligence, the Command panel can let Apple's on-device model read your request before Meridian's planner builds the plan. The model only proposes; the same deterministic planner validates it against your real layers, nothing leaves the device, and nothing runs until you confirm. Turn it off any time in Settings. GPX IMPORT AND EXPORT Bring GPS tracks in from Garmin, Gaia, Strava, and other GPX sources — waypoints, tracks, and routes import as their own layers. Export line and point layers to GPX, and share a track straight to GPX right from the field, before you even save it. MORE ANALYSIS TOOLS Points to Line, Multipart to Singleparts, Singleparts to Multipart, and Extract Vertices round out geometry conversion. Spatial Autocorrelation (global Moran's I) and Mean Center & Directional Distribution add two classic distribution statistics. FIND AND REPLACE Find and replace text in a field, with a before/after preview. IDENTIFY AND LABEL NUMBERS One tap lists every layer's features and raster values under it. Label numbers with separators, decimals, and units.
