Finding someone in a crowd shouldn't require a dozen texts and a phone call. Whether you're waiting at school pickup as fifty identical cars circle the lot, standing in a sea of strangers at an airport arrivals gate, or trying to reunite after your group splits up at a packed stadium — the back-and-forth of "where are you?" messages wastes precious time and ratchets up stress. You can't spot a text bubble from fifty feet away, and in a noisy crowd a ringing phone is useless. What you need is something visual — something bright enough to see at a distance and simple enough to set up in seconds.
Simple Signal turns your iPhone into a personal beacon. Pick one of nine vivid colors — including a White you can tune from warm to cool — send your contact a quick iMessage letting them know what to look for, then tap Start. Your screen lights up full-brightness in that color, solid or pulsing at whatever speed you choose, so the person you're meeting can scan the crowd and find you instead of your face. It's the modern equivalent of holding up a sign, only it fits in your pocket. At school pickup, tell your kid to look for the blue light by the flagpole. At the airport, hold up a green beacon so your traveler spots you the moment they exit the terminal. At a sold-out bowl game, agree on red before kickoff so your group can find each other after halftime no matter how separated you get. At the state fair, where "near the Ferris wheel" could mean any of a thousand people, a pulsing yellow light cuts through the chaos instantly.
Signal Lamp mode provides an important means of communication to your EDC without having to carry extra gear - even if your Morse Code knowledge is rusty or non-existent. It’s also a great way to learn - either on your own or with a friend.
Simple Signal does one thing, and it does it perfectly: it makes you findable.
SimpleSignal 1.1 is a big one.
• Signal Lamp: type a short message and your screen flashes it in Morse code, with a caption that follows along letter by letter.
• Pulse now has a speed slider, from a slow glow to a quick beat.
• New White signal with adjustable warmth, for nine colors in all.
• Support for larger text sizes throughout the app.
• A fresh new look: new logo, splash screen and About screen.
• Plus polish and fixes throughout.
