Now with the noise limits of six countries — each with the law it came from and the date it was checked — and a log of when a sound happened, how long, how often. ■ The tools you reach for first. How loud is it here — and when did it happen? Sound Level shows a big live decibel readout, records when a sound happened and how long it lasted, and carries the noise limits of six countries — each with the law the figure was copied from, the date that text was checked, and a link to the original. A phone microphone is not a calibrated sound level meter. The readings in this app are for reference only; they are not an official measurement and not legal evidence. For an official measurement, contact the responsible authority in your country. Everything runs on the phone. Turn on airplane mode and it keeps working. ------------------------------- ● How loud is it right now ------------------------------- • A giant live dB number you can read across the room, smoothed so it doesn't jump. • Minimum, average and maximum for the session. • Colour bands for hearing comfort — quiet, loud, too loud — with a rough listening time. • A whole-dB offset you can nudge if you have a reference to match. It is remembered next time. ------------------------------- ● When it happened, how long, how often ------------------------------- Neighbours, building managers and mediation services rarely ask "how many decibels". They ask when, for how long, and how often. • While measuring, one tap saves the stretch you just heard: start time, duration, and the maximum and average the meter showed. • A two-hour-band summary shows when the disturbances cluster, with the total count and total time. • Copy the whole record as plain text into an email or a form. The "reference reading, not an official measurement" line goes out with it. • Delete one entry or the whole record with an explicit button. It stays on this phone and is never uploaded. • Nothing is captured automatically — you decide what goes in. It is a personal record. It can help you explain "when, and how often" in a mediation or a complaint, but it is not an official measurement and not legal evidence. ------------------------------- ● Noise limits of six countries, with the source ------------------------------- South Korea, Japan, Germany, France, the United States and Saudi Arabia — read as each law writes them. • Every block names the quantity the limit is read in, where it is measured, the law it comes from, and the date that text was checked. One tap opens the original. • Each row shows its day and night hours, and the period covering the current time is marked. • Korea: apartment floor noise — direct impact 39 dB(A) by day, 34 at night as a 1-minute equivalent level; airborne 45 / 40 over 5 minutes. The seven kinds of sound the rule does not cover are listed, with the mediation centre's number. • Where a law is written in a quantity a phone cannot show, or the limit is a margin over background noise, the app says so and does not put the two numbers side by side. Knowing why a comparison doesn't hold is the useful part. ------------------------------- ● Private by design ------------------------------- • The microphone is analysed on-device and never recorded or uploaded. The app carries no network code at all — verifiable in airplane mode. • Zero analytics, zero telemetry, zero third-party SDKs. No account, no data collection. Privacy label: Data Not Collected. • The country shown first follows your device language. No location, no lookup. ------------------------------- ● Built to be read ------------------------------- • Every button is at least 64 × 64 pt; large type throughout, and a huge dB number. • High-contrast, AMOLED-friendly black that sips battery. • No double-taps, no swipes, no hidden gestures — just tap. ------------------------------- ● The Baro promise ------------------------------- UI: English · Korean · Japanese · German · French · Arabic. Sound Level is part of Baro — lightweight tools that respect your data, your battery and your time. No subscriptions. No ads. "The tools you reach for first."
