New in the Prayers tab: a prayer on rising, a prayer before sleep, the Prayer of St Ephrem for Great Lent, and the prayers before and after Holy Communion, all in traditional English from public domain sources. Search prayers, saints and feasts from one place, and share the saint of the day as text. Synaxis Pro adds a daily prayer reminder at the time you choose. Also fixed: tapping a Journey or prayer reminder now opens its page even when a sheet is open, and the Today page no longer shows a lock for a moment while Synaxis checks your purchase.

Nativity Fast Journey: a page for each of the 40 days with the readings, the saint, the Prologue, a prayer and the day's fast. Mark each day you keep it, get a morning reminder, and share the day with family. Tap today's fast to see what you can eat, why, and when it changes. The Nativity Fast now follows the OCA rule: Monday, Wednesday and Friday are strict, Tuesday and Thursday allow wine and oil, and weekends allow fish until the last week before the feast. Your parish may differ. Also new: prayers before and after meals, your choice of listening voice, two added commemorations (St Brendan the Navigator and the Holy New Martyr Grand Duchess Elisabeth), and short notes on each part of the Prologue.

Listen to the day. Synaxis can now read the day to you: the Epistle and Gospel, the saint's life and the Prologue. Listening keeps going when your screen locks, so it works on the drive to church or in the kitchen during a fast. The words are highlighted as they're read, Synaxis remembers where you stopped, and everything runs on your iPhone. Listening to today's Gospel and today's saint is free for everyone. New: the Daily Prologue. Each day of St Nikolai Velimirovich's Prologue from Ochrid now brings its hymn of praise, reflection, contemplation and homily. Today's hymn is free on the Today screen. New: Lives of the Saints. Browse and search all 365 lives from Today or from name-day search. Synaxis Pro is still a one-time purchase. No subscription, no ads. Glory to God for all things.

This update refreshes the App Store images and adds a preview video. The app itself is unchanged from 1.5.2. If it has been a while since you opened Synaxis: Wednesday and Friday fasting was corrected in the previous update. Outside the fasting seasons, an ordinary Wednesday or Friday is a strict fast, relaxed only when the day's commemoration allows it — and the days a saint's rank relaxes the fast to fish now show correctly. Three saints were added by request: St Anna of Novgorod (10 February), St Lydia of Philippi, Equal-to-the-Apostles (20 May), and Ven. Gabriel (Urgebadze) of Samtavro (2 November). Thank you to the readers who wrote in — those corrections came from you. Glory to God for all things.

Wednesday and Friday fasting is now correct. Outside the fasting seasons, an ordinary Wednesday or Friday is a strict fast, relaxed only when the day's commemoration allows it — matching published Orthodox calendars. Synaxis previously showed wine and oil on every such day, and could never show the days a saint's rank relaxes the fast to fish. Both are now right. Three saints added by request: St Anna of Novgorod (10 February), St Lydia of Philippi, Equal-to-the-Apostles (20 May), and Ven. Gabriel (Urgebadze) of Samtavro (2 November). Thank you to the readers who wrote in.

Calendar corrections, with thanks to the readers who wrote in. A modern saint's feast usually falls on one civil date that both the New and Old Calendars keep. Synaxis was shifting some of them by thirteen days. Now corrected: • St Herman of Alaska, glorification — August 9 • St Alexis Toth — May 7 • St Sophrony of Essex — July 11 • St Porphyrios of Kavsokalyvia — December 2 • St Silouan the Athonite — September 24 • St John Maximovitch of Shanghai — July 2 St Herman's repose is not one of these. It keeps the usual thirteen-day difference (December 13 New Calendar, December 26 Old) and was already correct. Newly added: St Cornelius the Centurion and St Ketevan of Georgia on September 13, and the Holy Apostle Matthias on August 9. If a date does not match your parish, please tell us: Settings > About > Send Feedback.

Maintenance update: under-the-hood improvements.

Read the life of any saint. Tap any commemoration — on any day of the year — and read that saint's life in full. Synaxis now carries the whole year of the Prologue from Ochrid: a life, and a word of counsel, for every day, offline. • A fuller menologion — more saints and commemorations are now named on each day, so fewer days feel bare. • An easier name search — find a name's patron saint more readily, however it is spelled. Today's saint is always free to read; the full year of lives is part of Synaxis Pro, the one-time unlock. Thank you for the thoughtful feedback — please keep it coming. Glory to God for all things.

See the whole fasting month at a glance. Every fast day on the calendar now shows its level — Strict, Wine & Oil, Fish, or Dairy — so you can read the month's rhythm without opening a single day. The same clear symbols now run through the Fasting Guide, Today, and your widgets, and the Guide explains exactly what each one means. We also made the calendar more reliable: your dates and fasts are now always figured on the civil (Gregorian) calendar, so a non-Gregorian system language can't shift a day or show the wrong fast. Thank you for the thoughtful feedback — please keep it coming.

A fuller calendar, a more beautiful app. • Many more saints — beloved commemorations added to the daily menologion: St Nektarios of Aegina, St Paisios the Athonite, the Synaxis of the Optina Elders, Great-Martyr Barbara, St John of Damascus, and dozens more. • A gentle first run to set your calendar — New or Old — from the very first launch. • Send feedback in a tap: suggest a saint or flag a correction. • A refreshed app icon with new icon choices, a more luminous prayer rope, and finer detail throughout. Glory to God for all things.

The Synaxarion arrives. Synaxis now keeps the whole Orthodox day with you: • Saint of the day — the saints and commemorations of every day of the year. • Daily readings — the appointed Epistle and Gospel, in full public-domain text. • Name-days — find any name's patron saint and when the Church celebrates it, and save your family's name-days with a gentle reminder to keep each feast (Synaxis Pro). • A fasting guide — a clear key to every fasting level and calendar marker. Free, reverent, and private — no ads, no tracking, ever. Glory to God for all things.
