Explore Your World Every road you've traveled. Every city you've wandered. Every country you've set foot in. Unterra turns your real-world adventures into a living map, covered in fog that only you can lift. As you move through the world, the cover clears. Watch your personal exploration map grow with every new street, neighborhood, and city you discover. Unterra runs quietly in the background so no adventure goes unrecorded. How It Works Open the app and your map is cloaked in fog. As you travel on foot, by bike, by car, the cover lifts around you, permanently revealing everywhere you've been. Over time, your map becomes a record of your entire life's movement. Track Everything - Roads, streets, and thoroughfares you've traveled - Cities and what percentage of each you've explored - Countries visited, with area explored in km² or mi² Earn Badges Hit milestones as you explore from your first 10 roads to 100 cities, from crossing 2 countries to covering 75% of a city. Badges celebrate how far you've come and motivate you to go further. Make It Yours Set your reveal radius a tighter beam for detailed urban exploration or a wider sweep for road trips. Switch between metric and imperial. Personalize your profile with a photo or emoji avatar. Unterra Pro - $14.99/year - Detailed stats: cities, countries, states, roads, and area explored - City coverage breakdowns with progress bars - Full badge collection - Profile with custom avatar - Trips, track and tag trips ex: Hike, Road Trip, Run For wherever life takes you Terms of use EULA https://policy.unterra.app/eula

Love watching the map appear as I explore

NewRoads makes exploring my neighborhood and city so much fun. I use it to track my “hot girl walks” and it pushes me to walk just a little bit further every day to clear the map a bit more. The stats and badges with Pro make the data nerd in me happy. Highly recommend.

It does have a couple features Mystery Hike doesn’t in that you can change the fog density to make the undiscovered map completely hidden, and you change the width of the path revealed. And you don’t have to pay to use it at any speed. But it only sometimes shows the percentage of a region that’s been explored (but not the boundaries so you don’t actually know what the region is), it doesn’t show percentage of the world, and there are no mystery places to discover. Additionally, it has a major glitch where random straight lines appear between two points on your line of travel. After only a week my map is covered with all these lines that I didn’t explore. There’s an eraser function so I could fix it, but why do I want to spend the time? Mystery Hike is a much better app.Added after developer response: I checked out the ‘flagged jumps’ setting - it said nothing was flagged so all the whacko extra lines are still there. My conclusion stands, Mystery Hike is the same thing, only better.

We first heard about Mystery Hike after another user pointed out some similarities. They're doing their own thing, and we're doing ours, and we love that. We should be showing the percentage for nearly every city out there, if you have some cases you'd like to shared we can certainly look into fixing/adding coverage. We do actually show a percentage of the world, just zoom all the way out (and don’t be shocked its a very tiny percentage). The random straight lines you're referring to have been something we've been working hard to prevent and have fixed many cases of it. In addition to the eraser you mentioned, there is now a tool called “flagged jumps” dedicated to finding and fixing these. You can find it in the settings. Feel free to reach out via email (support@npdesigned.com) or discord (https://unterra.app/discord) if you have any additional feedback.
