NO BARCODE? NO PROBLEM.
Scan a barcode for an instant, unlimited, always-free lookup. No barcode, like wine, local, specialty or cosmetics? Tap "Scan the label" and What2Know reads the packaging straight from a photo.

Food, supplements, cosmetics, pet products, and wine. One app for the whole shelf.
BUILT FOR YOUR HOUSEHOLD
Set up a profile for each person and pet with their allergies, diet, and ingredients to avoid. Every scan tells you who it suits, and who should skip it. Save products to your Family Shelf.
INGREDIENT & HAZARD SCREENING
We check the ingredient list against published watch lists from public health authorities and flag additives and ingredients of concern.
BETTER CHOICES
When something doesn't fit, see cleaner alternatives in the same category, right in the app.
What2Know is an informational tool, not a medical device. It does not diagnose, treat, or prevent any condition. Allergen and hazard results reflect detection in the text we were able to read, not a guarantee of safety. Always read the physical product label and consult a qualified professional for medical or dietary decisions.
FREE VS. PREMIUM
Barcode scanning is free. What2Know Premium is an auto-renewing subscription ($4.99/month or $19.99/year) that unlocks unlimited AI "Scan the label" photo reads, unlimited household profiles, and product alerts. Payment is charged to your Apple ID at purchase. Your subscription renews automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the period, and you can manage or cancel anytime in your App Store account settings.

So I went to a local grocery store and was going to purchase frozen shrimp scampi. So, I scanned the package with what 2know and I learned that there were 39 ingredients mixed in with the shrimp. I immediately placed the package back in the frozen section. Later that day. I went to a large box store and bought fresh shrimp that had no additives. So glad this tool is now available so that I can make better choices.
How did I survive without this?

This app is so helpful for knowing what food and consumable products are safe for my family and me. It’s easy to use and keeps your history. It lets you put in your family information, as well as your other people (dogs and cats).
Superior to other scan apps
Pandahaus
With this app you can scan food, cosmetics, pet foods and more for “What2Know” about every consumable. You can enter your family and pet information so it knows each persons and each pets dietary preferences and restrictions. It’s other scan apps on steroids!
Was Wishing for This Just a Few Days Ago
Grants Pass Sue
My dog is allergic to some ingredients, and I was searching for another dog food that avoided those, in the grocery store. It was a hassle to pull down the bags and find the ingredients. Next time, I will use the What2Know app!
Fixes a crash in the shelf price scanner on iPhones running iOS 15.5 to 16.3. If price scanning stopped working for you on an older iPhone, this release restores it. No other changes.
