A FEW FIXES, INCLUDING ONE THAT AFFECTED WINNING HANDS Winning hands are now checked against your exposures Once you expose a group, you're committed to it, so the hand you win with has to actually contain that group. Callie's wasn't checking that at the end. It looked at your fourteen tiles, but not at what you'd already laid face-up on the table. Six flowers exposed together isn't the same as two separate groups of three, even though it's the same six tiles. Some hands want one, some want the other. Callie's knows the difference now, and everything you were legitimately building toward still wins exactly as it did before. Blind passing on the first Charleston You can blind pass on the last pass of either Charleston, going left as well as going right. Callie's was only allowing it on the second one. Now it allows both, the way it should have all along. Sorting your tiles between the Charlestons The screen where you decide whether to go on to the second Charleston now lets you drag your tiles into any order you like, just as you can on the passing screens. **THE CHARLESTON, PUT RIGHT** Two fixes, both on the Charleston. **Blind passing on the first Charleston** You can blind pass on the last pass of *either* Charleston — the first one, going left, and the second one, going right. Callie's was only allowing it on the second. So if you wanted to pass fewer than three of your own tiles on that last left-going pass, the app wouldn't let you, and it should have. It does now. **Sorting your tiles between the two Charlestons** The screen where you decide whether to carry on to the second Charleston now lets you drag your tiles into any order you like, the same way you can on the passing screens. Bug fixes in the 2026 rules

**BUG FIXES** The Charleston could stop responding if you started a new game while tiles were still selected — the Pass button looked ready, but nothing happened and the hand couldn't continue. That's fixed! Trying a practice round from How to Play no longer removes a game you have in progress, and cancelling the card-year picker no longer hides it. Finishing a hand and closing the app no longer offers to resume the hand you just completed. After starting a new game, the end-of-hand screen no longer shows the previous game's score breakdown. The Discard button and the menu no longer stop responding after you switch away from the app and come back. And zooming one group of tiles and then another now keeps the second one on screen. **A clearer win** The winning hand is now laid out the way it's printed on the card — each group in order, with any Jokers shown in the group they completed instead of pushed to the end. Much easier to see how the hand came together. **My Card is easier to build** You can now add every panel of your card without leaving your game — previously you could add the first one and then had to go to Settings for the rest. The one-time note about your card staying on your device no longer interrupts you either; accepting it takes you straight on to choosing a photo. **A more polished feel** Callie's Mahjong got a smoothness pass. Screens now ease and zoom into place instead of snapping: starting a game flows into the Charleston, and finishing a hand dims the table and springs the results into view — a win capped with a little burst of confetti. **A livelier Charleston** When you pass, your tiles now slide off in the direction they're going — right, left, or across — and the tiles you receive fade in, so each pass reads at a glance. **Steadier screens** The board and menus no longer drift or bounce when you touch them, and your rack stays put as you rearrange tiles. Prefer things still? Everything here honors Settings → Animations (and iOS Reduce Motion) — turn it off and the game snaps instantly with no motion.

**Learn to play — the friendly way** Callie's Mahjong has a brand-new How to Play. Six short, illustrated lessons walk you through the whole game at your own pace: what you're trying to build, how the table and the wall work, how a hand begins, the Charleston, the difference between concealed and exposed hands, and strategy for the endgame. Real tiles and real hands from the current NMJL card throughout — nothing abstract. **Try it, don't just read it** Some lessons are hands-on — pass three tiles in a practice Charleston and see what comes back, or jump into a full practice round whenever you like. Your progress is saved, so you can dip in and out, one lesson at a time. **Always a tap away** Open How to Play from the main menu, or right from the in-game menu the moment a question comes up mid-hand. Finish all six lessons to earn the Mahjong Scholar achievement. **Smoother play** Fixed a rare freeze that could happen right after you skip the courtesy pass at the start of a hand. That's the whole update — a more reliable game.

**Two new achievements** Win a hand without ever drawing or holding a joker to earn **Pure Jokerless** — stricter than "No Jokers Needed," which counts wins where opponents swapped jokers out of your tiles. And if you ever discard a joker (rare — it means throwing away one of the most valuable tiles in the game), you'll earn **Discarding Jokers**. **Bug fixes** Fixed a Game Center issue that could prevent the Tutorial achievement ("Ready to Play") from appearing even after you completed the How to Play guide.
