Waterside Log
records for waterside surveys
Free · Designed for iPad. Not verified for macOS.
No ads, one-time purchase. Record your waterside surveys simply and keep all your data on your own device.
Waterside Log lets you record nature observations and environmental surveys at rivers, ponds, and other waterside locations — all from your smartphone. Capture water temperature, water flow, wildlife observations, photos, and location data right on the spot. Perfect for research and study, as well as for hobby nature watching.
◆ Who it's for
・Anyone surveying and recording river or waterside environments over time
・Students and researchers gathering field data for studies, classes, or reports
・Anglers and nature lovers who want to keep proper records
◆ Quick recording with tap-to-select
Environmental items such as weather, water flow, clarity, and bottom type can be recorded with a single tap. No fumbling with text input — capture accurate records quickly, even with limited time in the field. When none of the options fit, you can enter your own with "Other."
◆ Multiple points in one survey
Group records from several locations — upstream, midstream, downstream — within a single survey. Recorded points appear on a map so you can see the whole survey at a glance. You can set locations by tapping the map, so it works even where there's no signal.
◆ Offline-focused. Your data stays on your device
Creating and viewing records works without an internet connection (a connection is used only to load map tiles when displaying the map). Your survey data is never sent anywhere. Keep recording even in remote mountain areas or riverbanks.
◆ No ads, one-time purchase
No intrusive ads at all. No monthly fees — buy once and use it forever.
◆ Data export for research
Export your records as CSV files, ready to use in spreadsheet or analysis software for organizing and analyzing your data after a survey. Backup and restore are also supported.
This app will continue to be improved over time.
