Behind the scenes, Betta uses the Leitner system, a spaced repetition method backed by decades of memory research. Every card lives in one of five boxes. Nail a card and it moves up, with longer and longer gaps between reviews (1, 2, 4, 7, then 15 days). Miss one and it comes back tomorrow. You always see when a card will return, so the algorithm never feels like a black box.
