OpenRange Carry is a simple, privacy-first travel companion for responsible gun owners. It shows clean, up-to-date summaries of concealed carry and open carry laws by state, duty-to-inform requirements, and real-time CCW reciprocity notifications when you cross state lines. All data is stored locally on your device - no accounts, no tracking, no cloud, no nonsense.
A minimum of 50% of all revenue generated by the app will go directly toward building our non-profit homestead for homeless and at risk veterans: At Ease in Dixieland.

The information provided by OpenRange Carry is not legal advice and should not be relied upon as a substitute for consulting applicable laws, regulations, or qualified legal counsel.
Firearm laws vary by jurisdiction and may change without notice. Users are solely responsible for verifying the current laws, reciprocity agreements, permit recognition, restrictions, and carrying requirements of any state, territory, or jurisdiction in which they possess or carry a firearm.
When carrying a firearm in another jurisdiction, you are subject to the jurisdiction’s laws and regulations, regardless of where your permit or license was issued.
Background Location and Notifications
OpenRange Carry uses location and notifications to alert you when you enter a different state and to show relevant carry and reciprocity information.
To do this while the app is in the background or closed, the app may request “Allow all the time” / background location access and may run periodic background checks. Location is used only to determine the current state or jurisdiction for those alerts and in-app information. It is not used to publish your live location, share a movement history with other users, or sell a tracking feed of where you go.
Background location and notifications are optional for browsing the app, but they are required for automatic state-crossing alerts. You can turn location, notifications, and battery-optimization exceptions off in your device settings at any time. If you deny background location, state alerts may not work when the app is not open.
Advertising Measurement and Install Tracking
If you install OpenRange Carry after seeing an ad (including ads on X), we use a mobile measurement partner (currently AppsFlyer) to measure whether an ad led to an app install or related in-app events. This helps us understand which ads work and avoid paying for traffic that did not result in a real install.
This measurement may use advertising identifiers (such as Google Advertising ID), app install referrer data from Google Play or Apple App Store, approximate device/app information, and similar attribution signals allowed by the platform. On Android 13 and later, the app may use the Advertising ID permission for this purpose.
This data is used for advertising attribution, campaign performance, and fraud prevention. It is not used to provide legal advice and is not a substitute for reviewing our Privacy Policy.
By installing or using the app, you acknowledge this background-location, notification, and advertising-measurement use as described here and in the Privacy Policy.

## [1.0.6] - 2026-09-26
### Added
- **Notifications From Background** Introduced WorkManager periodic state checks (~15 min) with persisted last_state to prevent duplicate notifications. Foreground location stream uses lower-power accuracy + distance filter; background path uses WorkManager + reverse geocode.
- **"Review Our App"** launch counter increments on app open; native review requested on the 5th open (and later intervals); menu Review button still opens the store if needed.
- **MMP for Ads Tracking** AppsFlyer SDK added for X Ads / MMP install attribution (Android AD_ID + Play Install Referrer via SDK).
### Changed
Improved background state alerts so notifications only fire when you enter a new state. Review prompt now appears after multiple app opens. Added install tracking for advertising.
