AI Calorie Camera: Food Scan
Photo Food Tracker & Macro Log
Free · In‑App Purchases · Designed for iPhone. Not verified for macOS.
A photo calorie counter for iPhone, for people who don't want to keep a food diary. One photo gives you calories, protein, carbs, and fat. No ads.
Calorie tracking, without the diary.
Most nutrition apps make you search a database, weigh your food, and log every item by hand. This app replaces all of that with a single photo. Point your camera at a meal — a homemade bowl, a restaurant plate, a coffee-shop pastry — and the app reads it in seconds. Calories, protein, carbs, and fat, filled in for you.
Each meal is a piece. Each day is a puzzle. By dinner, you've built a picture of how you ate — without ever opening a logbook.
How it works
1. Snap a photo of your meal, or pick one from your camera roll.
2. The AI identifies the dishes, estimates portions, and calculates nutrition in about three seconds.
3. Adjust anything that looks off, save it to your day, and watch your macros come together in real time.
What's inside
• Instant AI recognition — powered by Google Gemini, tuned for global cuisines (Western, East Asian, Mediterranean, and more)
• Manual entry and food search — for anything you'd rather type, or when the camera isn't handy
• Macro tracking — calories, protein, carbs, and fat, with daily targets you can edit
• Weight tracking — log your weight and follow the trend over time
• Weekly reports — patterns across your week, not guilt about a single meal
• Puzzle progress view — your day fills in visually as you log
• Coming from MyFitnessPal? Import your weight history in seconds, so you don't start over
• Quiet by default — no streak shaming, no red numbers, no notifications you didn't ask for
Pro
Start with 10 free AI scans — enough to log about three full days. After that, Pro unlocks unlimited AI recognition. Manual logging always stays free, so nothing you've already tracked gets locked away.
Pro is $7.99 per month or $34.99 per year — about $2.92 a month on the annual plan. The annual plan starts with a 7-day free trial, then renews automatically at $34.99/year unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the trial ends. Cancel anytime in Settings.
Privacy, by design
Your meal photos are sent to our AI provider for recognition and are not retained after analysis. We don't sell your data, we don't share it with advertisers, and we don't track you across other apps.

• After a photo, the coach asks if the estimate was right. If it was off, type your own calorie number and the meal updates.
• The annual plan now shows what you pay today and the date of your first charge.
• The coach answers in the language you write or speak.
• Hold to talk now has a Chinese option, for when the app picks the wrong language.

Meet your AI coach, now in the bottom bar as Coach.
• Ask about your day, your week or your goals. Answers come from what you've logged.
• Say what you ate in a sentence. The coach drafts the meal and you check it before it's saved.
• Plan my week: a Monday-to-Sunday meal plan scaled to your daily target, with a shopping list. Don't like a day? Redo just that one.
• Pick your coach's look and name. With memory on, it keeps short notes you can see and delete anytime.
Also new:
• Diet restrictions: save allergies and foods you avoid. Meals that contain them are flagged in your plan, and "Remake these days" redoes those days at no cost. "Seafood" covers fish and shellfish.
• A fast left running for over a day now shows on Home, with a button to end it.
• Together: share your day with one person you choose.
• The first tab is now called Home.
• Setup now asks for your birth year and month, with no default. The coach is for ages 18 and up.
The coach is an AI and can get things wrong. It isn't a doctor.
1.0.24 Oct 19
Monthly report: without Pro, it now says that monthly reports are part of Pro. Before, it showed an empty month, even if you had logged meals. Every meal you log is kept either way.
Reports that can't load: when the weekly or monthly report can't be loaded, for example while you're offline, it now says so and offers Try again. Before, it looked as if you hadn't logged anything.
Manual Entry: if a number is too large to save, such as 150,000 calories, the app now tells you which one and what range works. Before, the meal didn't save and it wasn't clear why.
Badges: earning one now opens a panel with the badge itself, in place of the old pop-up.
Back button: fixed a bug where tapping it once, on iOS 27, could make every back button in the app stop responding.
1.0.19 Sep 30
AI coach: tap Ask at the top of the Dashboard, or open Reports, and ask one question about your last 7 days, or pick one of three ready-made questions. Answers use only your log and your targets. Before your first question, the app shows what is sent to Google's AI: your question, your last 7 days of meals and your daily targets, never your weight, body profile or Apple Health data. Your question is kept for 90 days; you can delete it sooner with Delete my coach questions in Profile. Answers are AI-generated, may be wrong, and are not medical advice.
Meal details: tap a meal on the Dashboard or in History to see a large photo (tap it for full screen), how its calories split into protein, carbs and fat, and What was in it, gram by gram. Log again today adds it once more. The large photo stays only on your iPhone, for 30 days; meals logged before this update show the smaller photo.
Apple Watch: the new AI Calorie app (watchOS 11 or later) shows how many calories you have left today. Swipe to Log again for your 3 most recent foods; Undo stays on screen for 5 seconds. Open the iPhone app once so your watch can connect.
Diet style: Profile › Diet style lets you choose Automatic, Balanced, High protein, Low carb or Custom (10–60% each, in steps of 5). Your protein, carbs and fat targets follow.
Weekly report: always shows 7 days, with an empty bar for days you didn't log, and compares your daily average with last week once both weeks have at least 2 logged days.
Fiber, sugar and sodium now show on the Dashboard. A blank value means "not known", not zero: it shows as "—" and isn't counted as 0.
Food search: when a food isn't in our database, Manual Entry search also looks in USDA FoodData Central. Those results are marked USDA.
Export my data: in Profile, save your meals and your weight as two CSV files with your full history. No account needed.
Badges have a new look. Tap one to see how to earn it; badges you haven't earned yet show how far along you are. Three Days On Target, A Full Week and First Weigh-In can now be earned.
Easier to read: the reminder time picker, and button text in dark mode.
1.0.18 Sep 28
My Recipes: after a photo scan, or in Manual Entry, tap Save as Recipe, give it a name and set how many servings the batch makes. Open Log Meal › My Recipes and tap ½×, 1×, 1.5× or 2× to log that many servings.
Exercise and Apple Health: the Dashboard has a new Burned today card. Connect Apple Health to see today's workouts and active energy, or log a workout yourself with the type, minutes and calories. Workouts and active energy read from Apple Health stay on your iPhone. Your daily calorie goal stays the same.
Fasting: from the fasting card on the Dashboard, pick a 12:12, 14:10, 16:8 or 18:6 window and start. The card shows how long you've been fasting and how long is left. If you save a meal during a fast, the app asks whether to end it, and you can change the end time. Past fasts are under Recent fasts. An alert when the window is up is off unless you turn it on. Fasting is only available for people 18 and older.
Nutrition Facts labels: when a barcode isn't in the food database, or from the top of Manual Entry, take or choose a photo of the Nutrition Facts panel. The numbers on it are filled in for you to check before saving; anything not on the label stays empty. The label photo is read by Google's AI, the same as meal photos, and we don't store it.
Weight: Weight Tracker now shows a line chart for 30 days, 90 days or 1 year. You can also sync your weight from Apple Health, one entry per day; it's saved to your account to keep your trend and calorie goal current.
The app only reads from Apple Health. It doesn't write anything to it.
1.0.14 Sep 26
After a photo scan, the main button on the result screen is now Save meal: one tap and it's logged. To change which meal it goes under, tap the line just above it.
On a new install, the Dashboard now starts with Snap your first meal, which opens the camera directly. The app no longer asks about notifications at launch. It asks after your first saved meal, and explains the reminders first.
When your free AI scans are used up, the Dashboard, Log Meal and the camera screen now say so before you take a photo, with Manual Entry, which stays free, and See plans.
Typing in a grams field now replaces the whole number: changing 150 to 300 gives 300, not 30150. A single item is capped at 5,000 g. The number fields in Set your daily goal work the same way.
If notifications are off in Settings, the Meal Reminders switch now shows off, with an Open Settings button, instead of showing on while no reminder arrives.
On iOS 17, the Dashboard and Reports could show nothing for days you had logged. The meals were saved; both screens now show them.
Before using AI on your meals, the app now tells you that your meal photo, or what you type about the meal, is sent to Google's AI for analysis. Nothing is sent until you tap Continue.
The camera and photo permission prompts, the Privacy Policy and the Terms of Service now use the app's current name, AI Calorie Camera. The camera prompt said photos weren't shared with third parties. That was wrong: meal photos are sent to Google's AI, and the prompt now says so.
1.0.11 Sep 24
Log Meal has a new card for describing a meal instead of photographing it: type what you ate, or use your keyboard's dictation key, and get an estimate the same way a photo scan does. Say "a bowl of rice" and the app now asks how big it was — Small, Medium, or Large — instead of guessing.
Log Meal also has Scan Barcode, for packaged food. Nutrition comes from the Open Food Facts database, credited on the result. Barcode scanning is free, always.
The Dashboard has a new Today's Water card. Add a glass with one tap; Undo removes the last one.
Meal History has a new Again button, to log a past meal into today without retyping it.
The app interface now follows your phone's language for Spanish (Mexico) and Portuguese (Brazil).
1.0.10 Sep 23
Signing in now asks before it moves anything.
If you used the app without an account, signing in shows how many meals and weight entries came from this phone, and you choose Import or Don't import. If you already have an email account, you can now sign in to it from Save your progress.
Logging out now tells you what stays in your account and what this phone goes back to, and keeps you in the app.
Meals you log with a photo now keep a thumbnail, shown in your history. It stays only on this phone — not in your account, not on our servers.
Delete Account now permanently deletes your account and all your data — meals, weight, and photos. It can't be undone, and it asks you to confirm first.
Contact Support is in Profile. If no mail app is set up, it can now copy our address instead.
1.0.9 Sep 20
Two fixes on the subscription screen.
The app now welcomes you to Pro only once Pro is actually on for your account. Until now, that welcome could arrive before Pro had switched on. If it isn't on yet, the screen says so and lets you check again.
Prices now stay on one line, in your currency. On some phones they wrapped onto two lines, and some figures were in US dollars even outside the US. Every price on that screen now comes from the App Store.
1.0.8 Sep 12
The screen you see right after you snap a meal has been redone.
Your photo fills it now, the calorie estimate is big enough to read at arm's length, and a single line underneath shows where this meal lands in your day — what you'd already eaten, about how much this one adds, and what's left.
When we don't know your daily target yet, that line simply shows the estimate range instead. We'd rather show you less than make a number up.
1.0.7 Sep 8
Nothing new on your screen this time.
This one is upkeep underneath — the app is back in step with the platform it's built on, so everything you already use keeps working exactly as it does today.
1.0.6 Sep 5
Calorie Puzzle is now AI Calorie Camera. Same app, same history — the name under your icon is what changed.
Choosing a photo from your library now works even if you once declined photo access.
The link you share with a friend now opens the app's App Store page. The ones you sent earlier landed on a legal and support page — worth sending again.
1.0.5 Aug 20
Portion size is now the first thing you can fix — it's the biggest factor in how accurate a photo estimate can be, so it's no longer buried below the nutrition fields.
Save is always within reach: the main action now stays pinned to the bottom instead of hiding at the end of a long form.
Calorie ranges are honest about what a photo can tell you.
1.0.4 Aug 3
A clearer name for what this app actually does: point your camera at a plate, get calories and macros.
New free plan: 10 AI scans to get started, shown right on the logging screen so you always know where you stand. Manual logging stays free and unlimited — nothing you've already tracked gets locked away.
Support is now one tap away in Profile, and prices show in your local currency.
1.0.3 Aug 1
Support is now one tap away — Profile → Contact Support, with your device details already filled in.
Prices now appear in your local currency, and the free trial is only offered when your account can actually use it.
Outside the US, metric units are the default. Plus a handful of fixes to keep the photo results clean.
1.0.2 Aug 1
Clearer messages when sign-in or password reset runs into trouble.
Instead of technical error codes, you now get plain-language help and a way forward.
1.0.1 Jul 30
