What's new in 1.8 Protected items: Favorites and your Hidden album are now left out of every tool, and you can protect any album you choose. Nothing in a protected album can be selected for cleanup. Screen recordings: a new tool that rounds up screen recordings, usually the heaviest clips on a phone, so you can clear them or shrink the ones you want to keep. Free plan now resets daily: every tool gives you 10 free uses each day instead of 10 total. Siri and Shortcuts: say "Clean screenshots in Whittle", "Find duplicates with Whittle" or "How much free space do I have in Whittle". Share what you have cleaned with a tap from the home screen. Whittle now speaks Spanish.

Clean a folder just got a lot better. Pick any folder from the Files app and Whittle opens it as its own workspace, with tools scoped to just that folder: Browse every file by size Find and clear exact duplicates Compress photos, with quality and resolution controls Compress videos, with real resolution tiers and a live saving estimate Change codec to HEVC Trim clips Compressing or trimming now always shows you a before and after first. Keep the smaller copy or keep your original, one choice per file, and nothing is replaced until you tap Apply. Same honest review flow as the rest of the app. Also in this update: Opening a folder now shows a live count as it scans, plus a progress bar while it checks for duplicates, so you can see it working Folder thumbnails stay put while you scroll instead of flickering You can now switch between folders freely Whittled copies are saved in their correct format The background completion notification now fires correctly when a scan finishes in the background Smaller reliability and cleanup fixes As always: no ads, no fake junk numbers, and nothing ever leaves your phone.

Faster background work. Compression, codec, and trim jobs now keep running while you switch screens, and resume on their own if the app closes mid-run. Scans save their results and reopen instantly. Added a Leave a Review shortcut on the home screen and a clearer About page explaining how background work behaves.

Faster, more reliable scans. Results now save and resume if you leave and come back. Added first-run tips and background scanning with completion alerts, plus a fresh look on the home screen.
