Sharper look at home plate: the batter, catcher and umpire are now drawn in true proportion to each other, so duels look the way they should from the mound. Plus small fixes.

You're on the mound now. • Pitch as well as bat. In the top of every inning you choose the pitch (fastball, change-up, curve, sinker and more as you move up the difficulty levels), drag the target anywhere in or around the zone, tap THROW, then tap again as the ring closes to hit your spot. Miss the timing and the pitch gets away from you. • Hitters who think. The other side swings at strikes, lays off most balls, chases with two strikes and punishes anything down the middle. • Season mode. Ten games against nine clubs, from the Portland Pilots to the New York Monarchs, with a live standings table and a trophy for finishing first. • My Team. Name your club, pick your uniform and trim colours, and edit every hitter's name, number and batting side. Your colours show on the field and on the scoreboard. • Every club wears its own colours, home and away. • Game Center: leaderboards for best Home Run Derby, career wins and career home runs, plus seven achievements to chase (first homer, walk-off, shutout, ten strikeouts, Derby ten, grand slam, champion).

Fixes the view at the plate. The batter now stands in the batter's box level with the plate, and the catcher and umpire crouch behind it, the way it looks from behind home plate. Earlier the batter appeared to be standing behind the catcher.

Night baseball, the way it should feel. • A new ballpark under the lights: floodlights, haze, and a video board showing the line score, balls-strikes-outs, the batter and every pitch's speed. • A full house of real fans who react to the game: they jump up on hits, stand and roar for home runs, groan at strikeouts, light up the stands with camera flashes and start the wave. • Live crowd sound that swells with every big swing. • Every hitter wears his own number on his back. • Catches now happen when the ball actually reaches the glove, and called pitches carry into the catcher's mitt. • Real baseball rules: doubles and triples put the batter on the right base, walk-off wins end the game on the spot, the home team doesn't bat in the bottom of the 9th when already ahead, and tied games go to extra innings.

• Fixed the pitcher’s leg vanishing during the wind-up and a stray shoe in the batter’s follow-through. • Left-handed hitters now have their own artwork, so jersey numbers read correctly. • Small polish fixes.

• A real lineup: nine named hitters take turns. Strike out or make an out and the next batter walks in from the dugout with his name card. Four of them bat left-handed. • The batter comes alive: he shifts his weight and waggles the bat while waiting, coils as the pitch is released, strides into the swing with a bat-trail flash, and follows through. • Hits jog up the line to first; strikeouts walk back to the dugout with the umpire's "Strike three!" call. • The inning banner shows who's leading off and who's on deck.

Strike Zone is a completely new game. • You hit the pitch now — tap, swipe up or swipe down to choose the kind of hit. • Home Run Derby and a full nine-inning Play Ball mode. • Rookie, Pro and All-Star difficulty, with a timing ring that shows when to swing. • Eight pitch types, each labelled with its speed after the pitch. • Camera cuts to the fielder making the play; home runs get fireworks. • Drag the batter to adjust in the box before the pitch. • New artwork: stadium, batter, pitcher, catcher and fielders, plus a new app icon.
