NAM Sandwich
A full NAM A2 Rig, anywhere
Free · In‑App Purchases · Designed for iPad. Not verified for macOS.
Hi - I'm Evan, a mobile developer for over 10 years and a gigging guitarist for over 20. I created this app to be as simple to use as possible with all the features you could want to play live, or just jam by yourself at night before you go to bed (like I do).
NAM Sandwich turns your iPhone or iPad into a complete, fully customizable Neural Amp Modeler rig!
BUILD YOUR SANDWICH:
Your tone is a stack of layers you arrange however you like:
• Amp & pedal captures (NAM) - stack as many as your tone calls for
• IR loader - drop in cab impulse responses and creative IRs
• EQ - switchable 2-band or 3-band tone stack
• Noise gate - reduce the hiss on those heavy tones
• Delay - from slap-back to long modulating echoes
• Reverb - plate and spring
• Tremolo - customizable stereo/mono trem with lots of options
• Flanger - classic jet engine swoosh and trippy swirling effects
• Chorus - 3 modes modeled after classic effects
• Phaser - 3 voicings modeled after the most iconic pedals
• Wah/Auto-wah - In three voicings: Vintage, Modern, Wide
• Pitch - drop tuning, transposing and detuning without touching your strings
• Gain - low-cut, high-cut and level to tighten up or level out any capture
• AUv3 - host third-party effects as layers
Add, remove, and rearrange layers freely to build a rig that's truly yours.
THOUSANDS OF TONES, A TAP AWAY
Powered by TONE3000 — browse thousands of NAM captures and IRs from your own TONE3000 account, right inside the app, and hear one through your rig before
you keep it. https://www.tone3000.com
PERFORM-READY
Create as many preset banks as you like (I call 'em menus), organize your sounds into favorites, set lists, tones, whatever your heart desires.
LIVE LOOPER
Lay down a loop and play over it. Record 4, 8, 12 or 16 bars at your tempo, or use free-style mode and stomp in and out like a looper pedal. Switch sounds on the fly when recording! Save the loops you want for good.
MIDI CONTROL
Connect a Bluetooth, USB, or network MIDI device (e.g. XSonic AIRSTEP) to control preset changes, tuner, tap tempo and more - hands-free.
ON IPAD
Your saved sandwiches sit beside the builder, so you can pick a rig on the left and tweak it on the right. Works in either orientation - handy on a music stand.
JAM OVER YOUR MUSIC
Pull up a song and play right along. Perfect for practice, songwriting, and the couch, tour bus, hotel room, or backstage.
BUILT-IN TUNER
A fast, accurate chromatic tuner is one tap away - no extra app, no pedal. Stay in tune wherever you play.
AUV3 SUPPORT
NAM Sandwich can be used as an AUv3 effect inside host applications (e.g. GarageBand) and can also host AUv3 effects as layers in a sandwich!
FREE TO PLAY, PRO TO PERFORM
Building your sandwich, playing through it, the tuner, and browsing and downloading captures are free, for as long as you like. Pro unlocks Perform mode, saving and switching sandwiches, the looper, MIDI control: $2.99/year or $8.99 once, forever.
WHAT YOU NEED
Requires an audio interface to plug in (USB-C recommended — e.g. iRig USB).

more Incredibly executed. Hope yall are able to maintain this functionality. I’m blown away by how functional it is including the effects but mostly the integration with Tone3000. The looper is something I never use on things like the quad and Kemper but here it’s too easy and fun not to use.

The developer regularly updates the app with great features and bug fixes. The sound is on par with any digital modeler for less than $10! Great job and look forward to seeing more!

It is such a blessing to be able to have these for free. I feel terrible that I am bot able to support the creator financially. I wish them all the best and really, thank you.

I had no idea what to expect. I bought an IRig hd, connected to my IPad, & my FRFR cab, WOW! It’s amazing, sounds massive, easy to navigate, save, make a performance bank, it’s my NAM app, & i have a quad cortex 🙂

Lots of Looper updates!
• Share a saved loop as a WAV file — send it by Messages or Mail, or save it to Files. It's in the ⋯ menu on each loop. The file carries its tempo and bar count, which DAWs like Ableton and Logic read too.
• Tapping a saved loop now loads it and takes you straight back to the Looper.
• Import an audio file as a loop: tap Import on the Saved Loops screen. Files up to 5 minutes long are supported. A loop with tempo info (one shared from NAM Sandwich, or exported from most DAWs) keeps its tempo, bars and time signature, so the click lines up.
• Save Loop and Saved Loops are now buttons at the top of the Looper, beside the title.
2.13 Oct 19
• New reverb type: '63 Spring, modelled on the classic 1963 outboard spring reverb. Dwell, Mixer and Tone like the original, plus Decay, Drip and Tension. Dig in hard for the drip.
• Sort your captures and IRs by name, creator or recently added. The sort lives in a new menu at the top right of the picker, along with Import.
• Reverb can now go before the amp, for the classic surf sound of a spring driving the amp. It runs in mono there and stays stereo after the amp.
• Favorite tones on Tone3000 right from the browser: tap the heart on any result or on a tone's detail screen. They show up in your Favorites tab.
2.12 Oct 15
• Freeze layer! Tap to hold the chord you just played as an endless pad, then play over it. Tap again to change chords (or stack them)
• Tap any slider's value to type an exact number. The Trim and EQ cards now show their values too.
• Looper: holding Undo to clear now takes half a second, and a MIDI Clear fires the moment you press the switch.
• Audio interfaces with more than one input now always offer every input under Settings › Input › Channel — on some setups only Input 1 was reachable.
2.11 Oct 2
• New: Normalize on amp and pedal layers evens out the volume between captures, so switching from a quiet capture to a loud one no longer jumps. It's on for new layers; your saved sandwiches keep their levels, and you can turn it on in the layer's settings.
2.10 Oct 1
• MIDI Next and Previous now step through the capture or IR list on screen, including TONE3000, so you can audition captures from your footswitch!
• Browsing TONE3000 is quick again: tap a capture to hear it, then tap the next one. The ⓘ on each row opens its details.
• Sort and filters moved to a button at the top right, which lights up when any are on. You can now filter by more than one creator at a time.
• New: tap the BPM number on any tempo control to type in an exact tempo.
• A synced Delay or Tremolo card now has the full tempo control ( TAP plus − BPM + ) without opening the detail screen.
• The app now remembers which input of your interface you play through, instead of going back to Input 1 every launch or replug.
• AUv3 plugin's own controls no longer hide behind the tab bar.
• Reduced a lot of the 'crackling' that was happening for example, when you open a keyboard (PS it's mostly caused by haptics)
• New: the Doubler layer — plays a second, slightly looser take of whatever you play and pans the two apart, like a part recorded twice.
2.9 Sep 30
• Fixed: the capture pickers' search field never appeared on iPhone. Pull the list down and it's there again.
• New: Audio Settings › Default NAM Setting — pick whether amp and pedal layers start at Full or Slim. Changing it offers to switch the sandwiches you've already saved as well.
• New: Audio Settings › Keep the screen awake, so the phone stops dimming and locking mid-song.
• Audio Settings is now reachable from More as well as from the gear on the INPUT card, and its explanatory text follows More › Parameter Help like the rest of the app.
• Fixed: the looper's level followed the sandwich's Output. Turning Output up in Edit made the loop louder too — the looper now keeps its own level whatever you're playing through.
2.8 Sep 24
• Audio Engine improvements
• Fixed: plugging in (or unplugging) an audio interface or headphones while the app was open stopped the audio for good, leaving the Input stuck on the phone's mic until you relaunched.
• If your interface is plugged in but iOS is still listening to the phone's mic, the app now switches to it by itself instead of sitting there muted.
• Audio settings has a Reload Audio button, for when an interface shows up late or the audio needs a nudge.
• If the audio engine fails to start, the app now says so and offers to try again, instead of going quiet.
• You can now add more than one of any effect
• You can share a sandwich. Play one, then Menu › the ⋯ button › Share — it goes out as a link, and whoever taps it opens it straight in NAM Sandwich.
2.7 Sep 13
• New Compressor layer, with three voicings - Squash (Inspired by Dyna-Comp), Punch (Inspired by 1176) and Smooth (Inspired by LA-2A)
• The Delay's stereo sound is now a choice - Ping-Pong, where the repeats bounce, or Dual, two independent lines each with its own time.
• Fixed the app crashing on every launch for anyone whose sandwich contained a hosted plug-in. Turning off microphone access was the only way to get it open. THANKS BOBBY
• If the app fails to start twice in a row it now opens with the default setup instead of failing again, and tells you it did. Your saved sandwiches, captures and loops are untouched.
• A sound library that can't be opened now explains what happened and offers to send the details, instead of just closing. Nothing is deleted.
• More › Support can send the setup that wouldn't load, so a startup problem can actually be diagnosed.
2.6 Sep 5
• New Chorus layer, with three voicings! Classic, Jazz and Clone - modeled after 3 popular chorus effects
• New Phaser layer, with three voicings! 90, Stone and Vibe - modeled after 3 iconic phaser pedals
• Add a Layer is sorted into sections - Captures, Shaping, Modulation, Time & Space, Plug-ins and Control - and each one collapses.
• The Trim layer is now called Gain
• The Wah card carries Sensitivity and Response in Auto mode, so you can shape the sweep without opening it.
• Fixed the Delay's Ping-Pong doing nothing when a stereo effect sat in front of it - the repeats bounce now wherever the Delay is placed.
• The save prompt's "Discard Changes" is now "Continue Without Saving" - it never undid your sound, it only left it unsaved.
2.5 Sep 1
• Fixed issue where app would freeze while restoring from a backup
• Every effect layer is now free including tremolo, flanger, pitch shift and wah/autowah
• Swipe a sandwich right to add it to a menu.
• Swipe a sandwich left to remove it from a custom menu, or to delete it from the Main Menu.
• The menu switcher's rows are roomier, and a long list of menus scrolls.
2.4 Aug 29
• Custom menus replace preset pads, The Looper has its own tab. (Your preset pads became a menu called "Presets")
• Now you can create as many preset banks/lists/menus, whatever you want to call them! view as a list or a grid.
• A menu entry follows its sandwich: edit a sandwich once and every menu that holds it is up to date.
• Drag to arrange a custom menu. Main Menu sorts instead - by Last Created, Last Modified or Name.
• Program Change and Next/Prev Preset now follow the menu you have open
• Reorder sandwiches by dragging: in Edit mode, grab the handle at the top of a card and move it up or down.
2.3 Aug 28
• Browsing Tone3000 vastly improved
• Cab layer can browse Tone3000 for IRs!
• MIDI Learn takes a switch that sends any CC value
• An MIDI expression mapping can be learned from a switch, so a switch can set a knob to a fixed level.
• Lot's of UI and ergonomic improvements
• The tuner (TUNA!) reads quiet and noisy signals much better.
2.2 Aug 26
• The app opens faster.
• iCloud is now backup and restore only, instead of auto syncing on every save - this was done for audio performance
• Perform tab is now called Presets / Looper depending on what mode you're in
• A new Delay or Flanger now starts in stereo whenever its place in the chain allows it
• Right Swiping a saved sandwich in the Menu can now assign it to any preset slot on any day
• General UI improvements, bug fixes, and performance enhancements
2.1 Aug 23
ADDED
• Back up to iCloud and restore. More › iCloud saves your sandwiches, Perform pads, captures and saved loops to your iCloud account, and brings them back on a new device or after a reinstall. A fresh install offers to restore your backup for you.
• Saved loops sync too — save a loop on your phone and it’s on your iPad. Recent loops stay on the device that made them.
CHANGED
• Importing a capture you already have no longer adds a second copy of it to your library.
• The tuner holds steady as a note fades instead of jumping between layouts, and it’s less cluttered: no more prompts
2.0 Aug 18
• Improved Tone3000 browsing
• Lots of UI enhancements
1.10 Aug 16
ADDED
• Live Looper! — tap Looper at the top of Perform. Record 4, 8, 12 or 16 bars at
your tempo after a one-bar count-in, then play over the loop and overdub onto it. (Pro)
• Wah / Auto-Wah layer! — a swept resonant filter with three voicings: Vintage (throaty), Modern (brighter, more
aggressive) and Wide (smoother, longer sweep). Ride it with an expression pedal, or switch it to
Auto and let your picking sweep it. (Pro)
• Map a footswitch under More > Global MIDI Setup to Record, Play/Stop, Undo or Clear and work the
looper hands-free; a switch can also turn the click on and off.
CHANGED
• A sandwich's own MIDI mappings now override your global ones on the same switch, instead of being
ignored. The app asks before overriding, and the mapping is marked so you can see which one wins.
• More > MIDI Controller is now More > Global MIDI Setup, and its mappings are grouped by the
message that fires them — so two actions on one footswitch are easy to spot. Tap a mapping to
change it instead of deleting it and starting again.
1.9 Aug 14
ADDED
• MIDI Control layer: control layer parameters in one sandwich. One press can
turn the reverb off and the delay on, or swap a clean amp for a dirty one. Set a switch to Hold
and the change lasts only while you keep it down. Works with whatever your controller sends — a
CC, a Note, or a Program Change. (Pro)
• Expression pedals — ride a sandwich's controls with a pedal over whatever range you set: the
volumes, delay, reverb, tremolo, flanger, and per-layer controls down to a Pitch layer's shift and
cents. One pedal can move several at once, each with its own range and direction — swell the delay
up as the reverb backs off, or sweep a whole octave under your foot. (Pro)
• EQ Mid Freq — the 3-Band EQ's Mid band now sweeps from 200 Hz to 2 kHz instead of sitting at
425 Hz. Low for body and mud, high for a lead boost that cuts through.
FIXED
• Picking a new capture now changes the sound again after you switch sandwiches. The card and the
checkmark had been moving while the amp kept playing the old one.
• The Input and Output sliders move smoothly instead of stepping, so a fast fade stays clean.
1.8 Aug 12
ADDED
• Pitch - a new layer for drop tuning, transposing and detuning. Shift by semitones (-1 for E flat,
-2 for D, -4 for C), on chords as well as single notes, with Cents and Mix controls. (Pro)
• Trim - a new utility layer with a Low Cut, a High Cut and a Gain. Tame fizz, tighten a flubby low
end, or even out a capture that's louder than the rest.
• A Low Cut and a High Cut for the Plate reverb. They shape the tail only, and arrive Off, so
nothing you've saved sounds different.
• Delete a whole pack at once — swipe left on a pack in your NAM capture list.
• Rename a saved sandwich from the Save screen, without changing its sound.
• An output meter with a clip light on the Perform screen.
• Sort your Menu by Last Created, Last Modified or Name.
CHANGED
• Tap tempo on the card. Delay and Tremolo now have a TAP pad right on their cards in Edit.
• The Menu and your sandwich side by side on iPad, in either orientation.
• A tidier Perform screen — the tempo hint line under the pads is gone.
FIXED
• Perform pads only show a tempo when their sandwich really has a tempo-synced Delay or Tremolo.
1.7 Aug 4
ADDED
• Filter and sort when browsing Tone3000. Narrow the catalog to the kinds of gear you're after
(amps, amp + cab, pedals, outboard, and more), sort by Best Match, Trending, Newest, Oldest, or
Most Downloaded, and hide captures you've already downloaded so you only see what's new to you.
Your choices are remembered for next time.
CHANGED
• See what's playing at a glance. The NAM Capture list marks the capture you're hearing with a
speaker icon, and a pack that's collapsed now carries the mark too — so you can always tell
which sound is loaded, even with every pack closed.
• Long capture names fit. Titles wrap to three lines and shrink to fit instead of being cut off,
and the artwork is a little larger.
1.6 Jul 29
ADDED
• MIDI foot-controller support. Connect a Bluetooth MIDI foot controller and switch presets,
toggle the tuner, and tap tempo — all hands-free while you play. Map any switch to any action
with MIDI Learn: tap Add Mapping, then press the switch. Find it under More > MIDI
• Search your captures. The NAM Capture list now has a search field that looks through capture
names, packs, and creators.
FIXED
• Capture folders or 'packs' are now handled correctly: When browsing in Tone3000, you will now
be able to click into folders and audition each capture separately. You can add the whole pack
or individual captures.
CHANGED
• Better browsing for downloaded captures, capture packs are now respected after download, SEARCH
has been added for finding downloaded captures easier
1.5 Jul 26
• Perform now holds 42 total slots - a week of Perform presets. Sunday through Saturday, each
with Breakfast, Brunch, Lunch, Dinner, Dessert and Midnight Snack. Swipe left or right to change
days. Your existing six presets are right where you left them, on Sunday.
• Dark mode! A warm "After Hours" dark theme that keeps the diner look after the sun goes down.
Choose Light, Dark, or follow your device automatically under More > Display > Appearance.
• Landscape mode on iPad! Turn your iPad sideways — handy on a music stand, where the cable runs
out the bottom — and the Menu and Edit screens sit side by side: pick a saved sandwich on the
left, tweak it on the right.
• Perform pads now show what they're loaded with: each one displays the photo of the NAM capture
its sandwich is built on. On iPad the pad also names the capture and who made it.
1.4 Jul 25
ADDED
• Preview Tone3000 NAM Captures inside the app: sign in once, then search thousands of captures and tap any one
to hear it through your rig immediately. Keep the one you like with "Add to Library" — or just
leave the screen and whatever you're playing is saved automatically.
• Host third-party Audio Unit (AUv3) effect plug-ins as layers in your sandwich: tap "+" in Edit,
choose "Audio Unit", place it anywhere in the chain, and open the plug-in's full native interface
right from its layer. Factory presets and all plug-in settings save and reload with the sandwich,
and a plug-in that gets uninstalled is bypassed until you reinstall it.
• Flanger! A new effect layer with the classic sweeping, jet-plane whoosh — Rate, Depth, Feedback,
Manual, and Mix, plus a Mono/Stereo output switch with its own Width control.
• Delay has a new Ping-Pong mode that bounces the echoes left↔right, with a Width control for how
far they spread.
• Captures now keep the creator's photo of the gear, and the amp card has been reworked around a
much larger photo with the capture and creator names beside it. Captures downloaded before this
update fill in their artwork the next few times you browse Tone3000.
• Effects stay in stereo further down the chain — place your EQ, cab, delay, or flanger after the
reverb and both sides are processed, so the width carries all the way to the output.
CHANGED
• The app is now FREE to open, build, and play in Edit mode — building a sandwich, playing through
it, the tuner, the Menu, and Tone3000 browsing and downloads cost nothing. Perform mode, saving a
sandwich, and the Tremolo and Flanger layers are the Pro features, and the unlock screen is
dismissable.
• Reverb keeps your stereo width: turning it up no longer pulls a widened sound back to the centre,
and the Plate and Spring reverbs now spread their own tail in true stereo.
• Tapping a capture or impulse response in your library loads it and keeps you on the list, so you
can play down the list A/B-ing them — including a cab against "None".
• Effect detail screens are less crowded: the paragraph explaining each control is now hidden
behind More → Display → Parameter Help, and the section titles are gone, so more knobs fit on
screen. On Reverb, Mix and Gain moved to the bottom.
• A new Cab / IR layer now loads the bundled Cab v30 instead of arriving empty and silent.
1.3 Jul 20
ADDED
• AUv3 plug-in. NAM Sandwich now installs an Audio Unit effect alongside the app, so you can play through the same amp engine inside hosts like AUM, GarageBand. Pick any of your saved sandwiches right in the plug-in window — the same ones from the app’s Menu — and the window shows that sandwich’s own controls: each layer it actually contains (gate, EQ, cab, delay, reverb…) with its key knobs.
• “More” tab. A new tab on the far right gathers app info in one place: a link to the tutorial video, the app version and acknowledgements, a “Contact Support” button that opens a pre-filled email, and your subscription — including a “Manage Subscription” button that opens Apple’s settings where you can change or cancel your plan.
CHANGED
• Tuner moved to its own “Tuna” tab. The tuner is now a dedicated tab (far left, alongside Menu, Edit, and Perform) instead of an icon in the corner, so you can reach it from anywhere. On the Edit screen, the Save button now sits where the tuner used to.
1.2 Jul 13
ADDED:
• Tap tempo for Delay and Tremolo. Toggle between tempo / ms in the details screen for Delay and Tremolo layers. In Perform mode, you can tap on a pad to set the delay tempo.
CHANGED:
• Updating a sandwich now updates its Performance pads. When you edit a saved sandwich and choose
Update, any Perform slot assigned from that sandwich is refreshed to the new version (previously the
pads stayed frozen at the moment they were assigned). Tapping a tempo on a pad still stays local to
that pad.
FIXED:
• Interfaces that only run at 44.1 kHz now work. Some audio interfaces (e.g. the IK Multimedia
TONEX One) run only at 44.1 kHz and previously caused the app to crash on launch. NAM Sandwich now
runs its engine at 48 kHz and transparently converts the input from whatever rate your interface
uses, so any sample rate plays correctly.
1.1 Jul 9
