Skalden: Viking Sagas
Hear the Norse Gods Speak
Free · In‑App Purchases · Designed for iPad. Not verified for macOS.
Step into the Norse world. Speak with the gods, hear the old myths, and explore the Viking age.
Skalden brings the Norse world to life. Speak — by voice or text — with Óðinn, Þórr, Freyja and a saga-teller, and they answer in their own voice, grounded in the public-domain Eddas and sagas. Listen to the great myths told aloud, then explore the whole Saga World.
WHAT YOU CAN DO
• Speak with the figures of Norse myth — Odin, Thor, Freyja and a skald — by voice or text
• Hear their answers grounded in the Eddas and sagas, the oldest surviving Norse sources
• Listen to narrated mythic stories, from the making of the world to the fall of the gods
• Explore the Saga World — figures, a timeline from creation to Ragnarök, and a map of real Viking sites
• Browse a gallery of real museum art, the runic futhark, and the old symbols
• Switch between the world of the gods and the historical Viking age — one Norse world, two lenses
GROUNDED IN THE OLD SOURCES
Every figure speaks from the public-domain Eddas and sagas — the Poetic Edda, the Prose Edda, and the Icelandic family sagas. When a figure tells a tale, you can trace it back to where it comes from. The art in the gallery is real museum and historical imagery, shown with its provenance. Skalden is built to be vivid and immersive — and honest about its sources.
A HERITAGE EXPERIENCE, NOT A SERMON
Skalden is about heritage, mythology and story — the way these myths were actually told. The figures are AI companions, not oracles: they share the old tales and the world they came from, they don't preach, predict, or claim authority over your beliefs. It is respectful of the living tradition and welcoming to everyone — the Norse heritage belongs to all who are curious, never to any one people.
FOR EVERYONE CURIOUS ABOUT THE NORTH
For lovers of mythology and the sagas. For travellers and the Viking-history curious. For anyone with Scandinavian roots who wants to walk their ancestors' world — from the farms of Haaland to the halls of Valhalla — and for anyone who simply wants to meet Odin, Thor and Freyja and hear the myths the way they were meant to be heard.
WHAT YOU'LL LOVE
• The figures answer in a natural, spoken voice — it feels like sitting by the fire with a saga-teller
• Stories and answers stay close to the source — you can see where each tale comes from
• A whole world to explore: figures, timeline, map, art gallery, runes and symbols
• A calm, beautiful design in Norse gold-on-dark — no ads, no clutter
• Your conversations stay private — we don't sell your data
