PenMark: Annotate Markdown

Ink on your .md files

Free · In‑App Purchases · Designed for iPad. Not verified for macOS.

Markdown + marker pen. Draw on your documents with Apple Pencil, record your meetings inside them, and let AI write the minutes. PenMark renders your Markdown files on real paper and lets you write on them with Apple Pencil — without ever touching the source file. Open a .md file from anywhere — iCloud Drive, a Git client, your notes folder — and it appears on a fixed A4 page, beautifully typeset. Draw, highlight and circle with the Pencil. Your ink is anchored to the text and stays exactly where you put it, across rotation, devices and reopens. The original file is never modified. MEETINGS LIVE IN YOUR NOTES Record the meeting right inside the document you are annotating. Play it back later — audio, notes and document stay together in one package that syncs through your own iCloud Drive. TRANSCRIPTION & AI, ON YOUR TERMS Transcribe on-device for free and in private, or use cloud AI for noticeably better quality in more languages. Let AI write the summary, the action points and proper meeting minutes — each lands as a swipeable page next to your document, grounded in both the recording and the document itself. Nothing is ever sent to the cloud without your explicit consent. YOURS, EVERYWHERE No accounts. No tracking. Your documents, annotations and recordings live on your device and in your own iCloud — we could not read them if we wanted to. FREE & PAID Reading, annotating and recording are free and unlimited — nothing your device does on its own is behind a purchase, and there is no document limit. What PenMark asks to be paid for is its own work: pages it renders for a free user carry a PenMark mark, small in the margin on your first 10 documents and larger after that. Nothing is locked behind it — only the mark changes. PenMark Pro is a one-time purchase that removes it everywhere and includes 60 minutes of cloud AI; it never touches your Markdown file or your ink. For heavier use, the optional PenMark Intelligence subscription adds a monthly pool of cloud transcription and AI-written notes, with top-ups that never expire — and every install starts with 20 free minutes.
