What's new in 1.8 Four new tools, plus new ways to read your PDFs. • Translate Document (iOS 18 or later): translate on your device and save as TXT, a translated PDF or a side-by-side PDF. Scanned pages are read with text recognition first. • Summarize & Ask: summarize documents on your device with Apple Intelligence, and ask questions to get answers with the pages they come from. Requires iOS 26 or later on a device that supports Apple Intelligence. • Extract Tables (Excel): save tables found in a PDF as XLSX (one sheet per table) or CSV. • N-up · Booklet: put 2, 4, 6, 8 or 9 pages on one sheet, make a fold-up booklet, or fit every page to A4 or Letter. • Read Aloud: hear your PDF in Preview, with the spoken sentence highlighted and adjustable speed. • Bookmarks, resume where you left off, and reading modes: dark background, inverted colors, one page at a time. • Smart file names: scan and photo PDFs suggest a name from the first page's title and date (lines with personal numbers are skipped; you can turn this off). • Folders, tags and sorting (recently used, name, size) for your documents, including moving several at once. • Shortcuts, Siri and Spotlight: compress, merge, remove or set passwords, make PDFs from images and extract text or pages in your shortcuts.

What's new in 1.7 Find the right tool faster and edit with less effort. • Tool search: find features by tool name or guide text. Scan, Photos to PDF, Page Editing and Passwords now also open from the Tools tab. • Page editing: undo, Rotate All, and a larger page view where you can rotate or delete. • Sign & annotate: place your most recent signature in one tap, insert today's date, and move or resize photo signatures and seals. • Photos & scans: rotate or remove individual photos, with progress and file size shown. • Web page to PDF: back, forward and reload, plus a notice when a very long page is shortened. • Passwords: wrong passwords are flagged right away, and you can retry only the files that failed. • App lock: choose when it locks again (immediately, after 1 minute or after 5 minutes). • Outlines and in-document links are kept after compression and OCR; compression shows progress and the size reduction. • Open several files at once; saved files keep their original names. • Stability, VoiceOver and localization improvements.
