Almost every LA restaurant has an A. Cleanplate shows the real inspection score behind it, in plain English, and alerts you when a place you saved slips.
In LA County, about 95% of restaurants have an A in the window. So the letter on the door barely tells you anything. Cleanplate shows the number behind it.
Every restaurant gets a real inspection score from 0 to 100, straight from the LA County Department of Public Health, and Cleanplate puts it in plain English. You see the actual score behind the grade, what inspectors flagged and how serious it was, and whether a place is getting cleaner or sliding. No code-speak, no wall of violations you can't read.
What you can do:
- Search any restaurant or market by name, address, or ZIP
- See the true score behind the letter grade, with the violations explained simply
- Check a place's history, so you know if today's grade is steady or a recent bounce-back
- Browse the cleanest spots in your neighborhood, or scan the map by score
- Save the places you go to and get an alert if one of their grades drops
It's for anyone who likes to know what's behind the grade before they sit down: people who are immune-compromised or pregnant, parents eating out with young kids, or anyone who's just particular about where they eat.

The data is public, from the LA County DPH and the Southern Nevada Health District, and refreshes every week. Cleanplate translates it, it doesn't change it. An inspection is one day's snapshot, not a guarantee, so we show you the record and let you decide.
