Spectile's tiles are easier to tell apart: each one has its own outline, and a tile that does not fit shows a striped outline, so colour is no longer the only clue. When Spectile has no hint for you, it now says so. Smoother scrolling and clearer wording in every language.

Two new games. In Mobia a piece crosses a torus, a Möbius strip or a Klein bottle. In Vallum you shield the stars of a constellation to keep a spreading frost away from its suns. A new look across the whole app. Quanta now buy more than hints and streak freezes: skip a level, or unlock new skies, game backdrops and win effects. A Game of the week: five puzzles from one game, and a new game every Monday. A streak reminder, at most once a day and never at night. Turn it off in Settings.

Quarko now follows the system setting that reduces animation. Switch it on and the boards stop shimmering, the starfield holds still, nothing flies across the screen, and screens change in one step instead of sliding. Leave it off and nothing changes. Your phone's text size is now followed up to 200 percent, and no screen breaks at that size. Two controls were repainted so their labels read clearly. Lighter download, faster first screen.

Terra now gives every colour its own pattern, so the map reads without relying on colour alone. Under the hood: the app opens even on a poor connection, instead of hanging on it.

Quarko has been playable in six languages for a while, but the App Store page only ever said English. That is fixed. Plus the usual tidying inside.

Settings now has a Rate Quarko row, so you can leave a review whenever you feel like it. If a puzzle list ever fails to load, you get a Retry button instead of a dead end. Smaller download, and a few things tidied up inside.

Twelve small things you can feel: The star count on the home screen and the one in The Sky finally agree. Terra gives your hints back when you restart a level, like the other games always did. Sortropy's campaign now pays Quanta, and the Daily Observation stopped calling itself Endless. Instructions no longer get cut off at large text sizes, the restart and settings buttons have proper VoiceOver names, and the download is about 15 MB lighter.

Lists and grids now fade out softly at the edge instead of stopping on a hard line, so it is easier to see when there is more to scroll.

Settings now has a Notifications switch, so you can turn alerts on or off whenever you like. Text size follows your device setting, and the hub header no longer clips when that text is large.
