TunaWars
Ancient War & Trade
$1.99
New in 6.5: command your battles in person. Draw up your line on the field it was fought on, then move every piece, charge, loose and hold your nerve.
TunaWars is turn-based war and trade from Sumer to the fall of Rome, built on the historians' own numbers: the orders you send arrive late, the news you receive is already old, and a chronicler writes your reign as you play.
NEW: COMMAND IN PERSON
When a battle is about to begin within a courier's ride of your seat, the season stops. Leave it to your general, or take the Field yourself: draw up your line on the painted ground, with its rivers, walls and shore, then move every piece. Strike the flank, charge, loose a volley, and watch for the moment a line's nerve gives.
THE AGE OF MIGRATIONS
From Marcus Aurelius to Heraclius: Rome's generals keep sworn retinues, and a governor may proclaim a Rome of his own. Beside it stands Persia; around them move the Goths, the Vandals, the Franks and the Huns.
THE GREAT FAMILIES
Your generals and counselors are men of the great families, each with a temper and a family with grudges of its own. Imprison the disloyal and the others answer.
THE PAIDEIA
Learn the game from history. Each lesson seats you at a real moment, from Lagash against Umma to the Sack of Rome; then the Verdict sets what you did beside what happened.
WAR AND TRADE AS THEY WERE
Battles follow a model fitted to real battles: two lines lose men slowly; the killing comes when one breaks and is pursued. Rome's legions march the real roads. Every city prices each good by its own shelf. Every rule names its sources.
TWO WAYS TO RULE
Rule as Autokrator and you name what the realm is to achieve: take this city, hold that one, break a rival. Your court gives every order and answers you each turn, on the page or aloud, and you may rule it by your voice. Or rule as Epistates and give every order with your own hand.
OR SELL YOUR SWORD
Captain a free company: hire out to a realm, fight its wars and draw its wage, and it may make you its satrap, or take a city and found a realm of your own. Or play as a Trader with a counting-house and no land, or as a Satrap governing a province for a crown you do not rule.
COMMAND AT A DISTANCE
A march order to a frontier host rides out by courier and takes effect when it arrives. News comes back the same way.
SEVEN AGES OF WAR
The Early Bronze Age of Sumer and Akkad. The Late Bronze Age, with its palaces and chariots. The Archaic Era, from Assyria to the rise of Persia. The Classical world, from the Hellenic city-states to the tribes of the north. The Late Roman Republic, from Marius to Actium. The Age of Migrations. And the Dark Ages: peoples of men beside elves, dwarves, gnomes and orc hosts.
A WORLD THAT TRADES
Trade at your depots, from a caravan on the road, or down a far route to a distant market.
RIVALS WHO REMEMBER
Seat xenoi at your table: rival rulers with a face, a temperament and a voice of their own. Each plays as one of the trained generals, and you may put Apple Intelligence or a language model on your own key in front of it; no key is ever needed. They remember you from one war to the next.
YOUR LYCEUM
Open your wars to an AI chat app. It learns the rules from the Strategika, reads your war, and suggests your next move.
THE CHRONICLE OF YOUR REIGN
A chronicler writes your reign as you play: an order of battle for every engagement, a gazetteer of the peoples you met, a replay of every season's marches. Bind it as a book, or as an Illustrated Saga.

Ratings & Reviews
TunaWars 6.5 — Command in Person
COMMAND IN PERSON
• When a battle is about to begin within a courier's ride of your seat, the season stops on its muster card: the ground, the hour and both orders of battle.
• Command in Person takes you onto the Field; Leave It to the General lets him fight it.
• Draw up your line, or pick a formation, on the painted ground: rivers and fords, city walls, the shore.
• Move, turn, strike and loose. Blows from the flank and rear land harder, charges and elephants shake a line, and when nerve gives, pieces run.
• Hand the battle to your general at any time. The report replays it move by move.
• A xenos across the field gives its captain a plan in its own words; friends on one device each command their own pieces.
GO BACK IN TIME
• A solo world keeps itself as it stood at End Turn, every order still given: go back to add a forgotten order or fight a battle again.
THE ROADS OF ROME
• The historical worlds of the Late Roman Republic and the Age of Migrations now follow the real Roman roads, with passes through the mountains.
