EdgeLingo 2.0 • Cloud AI (optional): turn it on and a larger cloud model handles conversations, corrections and hints. Text is sent — plus a photo when you build a scenario from one and agree — never your voice, and we don't store it. It's included with your purchase (with a daily fair-use limit), and the on-device AI steps back in automatically whenever you're offline. • With cloud AI on, the on-device model is released from memory, so EdgeLingo is lighter on your iPhone. • You'll be asked once when you open 2.0; change it any time in Settings → Cloud AI. • New practice languages: Greek, and Latin (experimental). • Fixes for downloads and speech recognition.

New practice languages: Indonesian and Hindi — 14 in total. New in your conversation review: "Practice these fixes" replays the same scene, so you walk it again with the correct phrasing this time. New appearance themes: Paper, Sage, Midnight, Ocean — switch instantly in Settings. For Japanese and more, downloaded Apple premium voices can now be selected directly. Plus fixes and refinements.

Three new practice languages: Vietnamese, Turkish, and Polish. New Free Practice mode: pick a topic, set a length, and just talk — no script. New speaking-speed option: slow, normal, or fast. Korean, Spanish, and French now use a new voice engine — no separate voice download needed. Speech-recognition downloads now show progress and can be managed in Settings.

Hands-free conversation: turn it on and just talk — no button to hold. You can cut in while the AI is still speaking. A more natural Japanese voice, running on a new speech engine. Fixed a crash that could happen on iPhone 17 models. Devices with less memory can now practise Japanese and Chinese too.

Listening mode: hear the reply first, tap to reveal the text only if you want it. Language level: pick A1-C1 yourself, or leave it adapting. The AI's wording follows. Smarter help: you get the opening of a sentence to finish yourself, with the full sentence one tap further if you still need it. Phrases now explain themselves: not just a translation, but why a native speaker says it that way. Stability: fixed a crash in speech synthesis on iOS 26/27. If it happens now the app switches to the system voice and the conversation continues.

• Slide up while holding the talk button, then release, to cancel what you were saying — it is never sent. • Long-press one of your own sentences to edit it; the AI answers the corrected version again. • Review: save a suggested phrasing to your phrase bank, or long-press to translate and copy it. • Review: the full conversation now marks the lines that have a more natural phrasing — tap one and it opens right under your own words.

Introduces Lite Mode for devices with less memory (a smaller AI model with core features), plus overall stability improvements.
