Five looks from the print shop. Stencil print. Two inks a little out of register on textured paper, with the grain of a screen in the half-tones. Four ink pairs to pick from in the fine-tuning. Photocopy. Every grey becomes black or white. Solids come out dusty with toner, and a cartridge running low leaves pale vertical bands. Fax. Coarse dots, few lines, a header with date, time and page number — and now and then a scan line that arrived wrong. Thermal receipt. Prints on a narrow strip standing in the middle of the frame, with the heat streaks of a tired print head. Cyanotype. Deep Prussian blue on mottled paper, the oldest look in the app. All five are part of Camcora Pro. Preset codes grew with them: a look that uses one of the new ink pairs travels as a longer code, every older code still reads. Every look, live in the viewfinder. Watch before you decide. Tap any look in the drawer and the viewfinder shows it — Pro or not. The lock moved from the drawer to the record button: browse freely, only the shutter asks. Five more looks for free. Super 8, VGA Cam 2004, Halftone Print, Terminal 1982 and Ultrasound join VHS 1987 and VHS-C 1994 — one look from every family, nothing to buy. Smaller things: the app may ask for a review after your second export, once per version.

New look: Direct – the plain camera picture with no effects. Mix takes with and without a look on the same tape. Film looks now record at a true 24 fps. Frame rate and zoom style (stepped or smooth) can be adjusted per look. The viewfinder now turns upright when you hold your phone sideways. Master tapes can now be saved to Photos or shared right from the tape view. Saving a multi-clip tape to Photos now saves every clip. If you saved multi-clip tapes before, please save them again. The take-length option has a clearer label, and a 60 fps setting now survives a restart. Look codes with filter settings are longer now, so the full look travels with them.

Two new preset families built from chunky pixels. Pocket 256 draws the picture in dots of two colors — eight duotone palettes, from hard black and white to amber on dark brown. Handheld VGA gives you the look of a tiny viewfinder: chunky pixels, a white balance that swings orange, color noise that clumps, smearing motion, side bars and band-limited mono sound. Also new: recording sound character is now part of the preset. And recordings start more accurately — the beginning of the motion is back in the shot.

Two new switches in preset fine-tuning, both on by default: ZOOM MOTOR SOUND Turn off the motor whirr if you want the zoom to move silently. The zoom itself is unchanged. ZOOM INDICATOR Turn off the on-screen zoom bar so it stays out of your recordings. Thanks to everyone who wrote in — keep it coming.

Your hand on the machine. MOTORISED ZOOM Hold the rocker and travel into the picture at a steady, even pace — the way a real zoom moves, not the way a phone does. The motor sound goes onto the recording with everything else. TAPE WEAR One slider in the viewfinder moves the whole look between fresh and worn out. Picture and sound age together. Every preset wears in its own way. YOUR OWN PRESETS Dial in a look, save it under your own name, and pass it on as a short code. Anyone can use a code you send them, whether or not they have Pro. Your presets follow you across your devices. FADE IN AND OUT Soft transitions while you're still recording. Picture and sound together, no editing afterwards. SMALL POINTERS Short hints show you where things are — each one appears once and then gets out of the way.

Your tape library is now a machine you can operate. THE DECK Play, pause, fast forward and rewind your recordings, with a running counter and the picture breaking up the way it should while you shuttle. EDIT YOUR TAPES Trim a take, drop the one that didn't work, or put them in a different order. Available to everyone — a bad take no longer costs you the whole tape. COMBINE TAPES (Pro) Select two or more tapes and merge them into a single film, in order, with no loss of quality. SHORT TAKES Set the record button to 1, 3 or 5 seconds and collect small moments instead of long clips. A ring around the button counts it down. FRONT LIGHT Filming yourself in the dark now works. The screen becomes your light source. QUICK CAMERA SWITCH Double tap the viewfinder to flip between front and rear. Switching mid-take is available too, in Settings.

Minor bugfixes

Your recordings now save to Photos automatically. That's the big one in this update: stop recording, and the finished video lands in your photo library. No extra step, no exporting. SAVING - Every recording is saved to your library automatically - Each clip shows at a glance whether it's been saved - Older recordings that only lived inside Camcora can be saved after the fact – all of them, in one tap - Switch it off if you'd rather decide yourself MULTIPLE TAKES ON ONE TAPE (Pro) Record, stop, keep recording – it all lands on the same tape and saves as one continuous video. Change the preset between takes if you want. A short tracking glitch runs between the cuts, like the tape catching up. FASTER TO OPEN Camcora now sits in Control Center, on the Lock Screen and on the Action button. On devices with Camera Control, press to start and stop recording right from the button. SMALL THINGS - Your last used preset is ready when you open the app - Transitions between takes can be turned off - Settings now show how much storage Camcora uses This version of Camcora requires iOS 18.
