Redact Page: black out or pixelate anything on a page, and let Find Sensitive Text (premium) propose boxes over phone numbers, emails, card numbers, dates and addresses for you to review. A redaction replaces the stored page for good: search, thumbnails and exports forget the hidden words. Fill Page: type into a form, add today's date, a checkmark, a cross or your initials, placed and sized the way you place a signature, then baked into the page. Free for everyone. Open PDFs and images from other apps: PrivateScan now appears in the share sheet's Open in list and on the Mac's Open With menu, and the file lands in your library like any import. PDF exports offer a paper size: Original, Letter, A4 or Legal, starting from your region's paper. Send Feedback in Settings and About opens a mail to us with the app version and your device filled in, nothing else.

Smart naming now works on the Mac: on an Apple silicon Mac with at least 16 GB of memory, Settings offers the model download, and once it is on your Mac it names receipts and invoices for you. Files you import keep the names you gave them; a file with a camera or scanner name is named like any other scan. The Black & White filter preview shows the page as the filter will render it, the markup bar fits the Mac window, and the model download sheet speaks of your Mac on a Mac.

PrivateScan asks for an App Store rating after your first completed scan instead of after your first export. A smart naming model whose files were cut short on the device is now repaired automatically: the app removes the damaged copy once and downloads the model again on its own conditions, instead of asking the server about it on every launch. The Remove model button in Settings now deletes exactly the folder the model lives in.

PrivateScan now sends anonymous usage events and crash reports, so we can fix crashes and see how the app is used. They never include your documents, their names, their text or their images. You can turn them off in Settings > Privacy with the switch Share anonymous usage and crash reports, and the privacy policy lists exactly what they carry. When smart naming runs, it now asks for model files only over a connection that is not cellular, expensive or in Low Data Mode. A naming model the app has confirmed complete on your device now loads with no network request. The privacy policy link in Settings now opens the policy on freedom-terminal.com.

A one-time request to rate the app after your first export. It never nags: at most once per version, and never more often than every 60 days. Groundwork for a new capture camera. Not enabled in this release. Stability and performance improvements.

Cleaner pages: shadows and uneven lighting are flattened automatically, and the black-and-white filter keeps fine print crisp without speckle. A gentle warning when a scan looks blurry, so you can retake it while the page is still in front of you. Everything still happens on your device: no account, no cloud, no subscription.

Scans you delete now move to Recently Deleted, where you can restore them for 30 days, with an immediate Undo right after deleting. After each scan, a new review screen shows the result so you can rename, open, or retake it on the spot. Choose Light, Dark, or System appearance in Settings. Clearer messages whenever something goes wrong, a full VoiceOver and text-size pass across the app, and the app icon now greets you in onboarding and About.

Sharing and printing are far more reliable. Every export is verified before it reaches the share sheet or iCloud Drive, exported files stay readable even if your device locks mid-share, and a page whose local image is damaged now recovers automatically from its synced copy. Scanning is smoother. The scan button opens the camera in one tap using your last scan mode, and scans save in the background so you are never stuck watching a spinner. Large PDF exports use a fraction of the memory, show page-by-page progress, and can be cancelled mid-export. Plus many fixes for editing, signing, splitting, and reordering pages while a scan is still processing.

Photos selected from your library now import more like scans. When a document is clearly detected, PrivateScan straightens and crops the imported copy to improve text recognition for search and automatic naming. Your source photo is not changed. Automatic naming requires the one-time Premium unlock. Your appearance, default export format, default scan filter, and list or grid view can now sync through your iCloud on each device where iCloud Sync is enabled.

The upgrade screen now shows custom watermarking, and Excel export where available. Large documents load nearby pages first, with more loading as you swipe. Search updates after a brief pause while you type. Clearer messages when an export cannot finish, and clearer VoiceOver feedback for rows and buttons in the Documents and Folders screens.

See an estimated file size before you export. The export sheet estimates how large your PDF will be for Actual Size, Smaller, and Smallest, so you can compare presets before you share. Plus small fixes and polish.

Scan a table into a real Excel spreadsheet. Choose XLSX in the export sheet and PrivateScan finds the tables on your device and builds a real .xlsx file with rows, columns, and numbers you can edit. Other scanner apps build spreadsheets on their servers. PrivateScan never does: nothing is uploaded, ever. Table detection is careful, not magic. Check the numbers before you rely on them. Pages without a clear table export as plain text instead. Excel export requires iOS 26.

PrivateScan is now a full native iPad app. Your whole library fills the screen as a grid of document cards, every orientation works, and iPad multitasking is supported. On iPhone, nothing changes. Also in 1.5: small fixes and performance improvements.

Turn any scan into a Word document. Choose DOCX in the export sheet and PrivateScan builds a real .docx file entirely on your phone. Other scanner apps build Word files on their servers. PrivateScan never does. Cleaner scans, too. The Enhanced filter now removes shadows and uneven lighting and whitens the page background, and Black and White produces crisp, pure black and white pages even from poorly lit captures. Also in 1.4: - Face ID now unlocks the app automatically when you open it. - Your work survives the lock screen: edits, exports, and markup continue exactly where you left off after unlocking. - Imported files now get AI smart naming, just like camera scans. - Imports report exactly what succeeded when a page cannot be read. - Many reliability fixes across export, import, purchases, and sync.

Freeform markup is here: draw, highlight, and erase on any page with a pen, highlighter, and eraser in four ink colors. Your ink bakes into the page, so it shows up in every export and share.
