One Second Song
The music guessing game.
Only for iPhone
Free · Designed for iPhone. Not verified for macOS.
How fast can you name that song?
One Second Song plays you a short clip from a real song. If you know it, type a few letters and tap the match. If you need more, tap Hear More and the clip gets longer. Wrong guesses are free, so guess as often as you want! The less of the song you hear, the better your score.
Each song also has three hints. They give real trivia about the song without naming the title or the artist.
PLAY ALONE OR PASS THE PHONE
Practice on your own, or take turns with friends. The scorecard at the end shows how much of each song each player needed.
FRESH PACKS EVERY WEEK
Choose today's hits, decades from the 60s to the 2010s, rock, country, hip-hop, and more! We refresh the packs every week from Apple Music's editorial playlists. Each pack has three difficulty tiers, from familiar hits to deep cuts.
OR PLAY YOUR OWN PLAYLIST
Copy the link to any playlist on Apple Music, Spotify, or YouTube and paste it into New Game. Those songs become your pack. Artist, album, and song links work too.

more This app is so easy to use and so fun! It’s great how you can create any category of music you can think of and I love the daily song. It’s also a great game to play in a group. It’s hard to find a game that everyone wants to play together — this is the one!

The screen that shows you the answer is rebuilt around the album cover. It's about twice the size it was, with your result stamped across the bottom of it.
Casual games now open with a one-second snippet, the same as every other difficulty.
Pasting a playlist link now tells you up front that the playlist has to be public, instead of failing after you paste it.
Plus fixes to start-up and settings loading.

When a playlist link does not work, the app now tells you what went wrong. A single video, a Mix, a link to your own library, a Deezer link: each one says what it is and what to paste instead.
Also in this update:
• A private playlist opens in Spotify or YouTube so you can switch it to public. Come back to the game and it tries again on its own, with no second paste
• Add songs to a playlist that was too short, paste it again, and the game reads your new songs instead of repeating the old count
• End game now takes you back to pack selection, so the next pack is one tap away
2.18 3d ago
Paste a YouTube playlist and play it. Copy the link to any public playlist on YouTube or YouTube Music, paste it into New Game, and those songs become your pack.
Also in this update:
• Pasted Spotify links work more often, and a private playlist now says it is private and how to share it
• After a game, Take these songs home opens each song in Apple Music or Spotify so you can save it there
• Fixed: the paste sheet no longer drifts after the keyboard opens
2.17 4d ago
Special packs now get their own look — starting with rhinestones on the Just Dolly pack.
Also in this update:
• Difficulty levels now read Casual, Normal, and Hard
• A Contact us row in Your Corner — questions and ideas reach us in one tap
• New Game opens instantly: the pack grid no longer waits on the network
2.16 5d ago
Play your own playlist. Copy the link to any playlist on Apple Music or Spotify, paste it into New Game, and those songs become your pack. Artist, album, and song links work too.
Also in this update:
• New Game has a Your Playlist tile that walks you through it: share the playlist, copy the link, paste it in
• The Daily reveal is tighter. Your time and your place come first, and the song takes half the room it used to
• Every trophy on a player card now says what it is for
• Fixed: left open overnight, the Home screen did not roll over to the new day at midnight
2.15 6d ago
Easy is easier and Hard is harder. Song picking now leans on the biggest hits for Easy and the deep cuts for Hard, and songs repeat far less often from game to game.
Also in this update:
• The encore gets a two-second last chance as a third try
• The 2010s pack grew to 190+ songs, with the hits it was missing
• One artist, one seat: a duet or featured credit no longer lets the same act take two songs in a game
• Settled challenge cards read like open ones, with the winner on the line below
• Today's board shows misses and hints next to each encore result
• Pack names drop the "Original Motion Picture Soundtrack" padding, and long chip names fit
• Fixed: an encore finished after midnight didn't count for the right day
2.14 Aug 21
The New Game screen now starts with a search box. Type any artist, playlist, or album and results appear as you type. Your recent picks stay one tap away.
Also in this update:
• Search for a style, decade, or country and playlists come first. Anything without enough playable songs stays out of the results.
• More albums and soundtracks can start a game.
• Open challenges: a finished challenge shows who won, The House always has one open, and leaving a match mid-run counts as a forfeit.
• Leave the Daily, an encore, or a match and it pauses where you were. No restarting for a better time.
• New celebrations: a sunburst when you solve the Daily, and a Triple Strike for a half-second encore.
• The hint button lights up once and then rests. How to play now lives in your profile.
2.13 Aug 18
The Home screen got a redesign. The Song of the Day Challenge now leads, showing your time, your streak, and where you placed against today's field.
Also in this update:
• Play the Daily every day to earn In Residence, a mark next to your name on the board
• Today's board is easier to scan, and encore runs get their own callout
• Text is bigger throughout, and the app now follows your system text size
• Open challenges show live standings, and a waiting match starts with one tap
• Games hold up better on a weak connection, and an interrupted game picks up where it left off
• Fixed: the Daily could show the wrong day on phones set to a non-Gregorian calendar
2.12 Aug 14

New rule: wrong guesses are free! Guess as often as you like — only HEAR MORE spends a ladder rung, and only REVEAL ends the song.
Also in this update:
• Tap any chip on the snippet ladder to jump straight to that length
• Smarter shuffle — far fewer repeats between games, and no artist twice in a game
• Fairer guess matching — the right song under a different artist credit now counts
• Sharper search — suggestions hold still while you tap, and the song you're typing surfaces first
• Lyric searches no longer spoil the answer in the suggestions
• Winning a song now earns a proper fireworks show
• Share the game with the next party, right from the home screen
• Runs on iOS 18 and up — more iPhones welcome at the party

• New: your own Me page — edit your player identity and see your daily stats, Trophy Case, and matches in one place.
• New: streak celebrations — solve runs light up the stage with fireworks, note storms, and an equalizer wave.
• Badges like FIRST LISTEN and CLUTCH now stamp right onto the album art.
• Games start faster — once you know the ropes, starting a game plays the first snippet immediately.
• Fresher setlists: packs avoid repeating songs from your recent games.
• Smarter answer matching: artist-credit variants, "&" vs "and" spellings, and different recordings of the same show tune now count.
• The visualizer dances harder — it pulses with the beat and tracks the peaks.
• Hints now close in on the answer: who it's by, what it's about, then the shape of the title.
• Plus polish everywhere: snappier ladder animation, a clearer "Hear more" button, guess-box taps that always land, and friendlier copy.
