DRAGON BaZi Chart
BaZi chart with luck cycles
$19.99 · Designed for iPad. Not verified for macOS.
DRAGON BaZi is a BaZi (Four Pillars of Destiny) charting tool built for enthusiasts and serious students of Chinese metaphysics. Everything is calculated offline on your device — no network required, and no personal data is ever collected.
[Switch the reference stem — even to a hidden stem]
Most BaZi apps read the chart from the Day Master only. Here, tap a pillar heading to use the year, month or hour stem instead. Even better: tap any hidden stem in the natal branches and it becomes the reference point. Every Ten God — natal chart, luck, annual, monthly and daily pillars, and the printout — is recalculated instantly. Reading from a hidden stem is rare among charting tools and helps when studying family relations, palaces and other people in the chart. Tap the Day pillar to restore.
KEY FEATURES
- BaZi charting: enter a birth year, month, day and hour to instantly cast the four pillars, with Heavenly Stems, Earthly Branches, Five Elements and Ten Gods labelled automatically
- More charts: Zi Wei Dou Shu, Qi Men Dun Jia and a Western astrology natal chart, shown alongside the BaZi chart
- True solar time: built-in coordinates for major cities convert local clock time to true solar time for a more accurate chart
- Luck cycles: Major Luck (Da Yun), Annual, Monthly and Daily pillars, laid out so the flow of a life is easy to follow
- Reverse lookup: work back from a known chart to the possible birth times
- Saved records: keep charts on your device for later review and comparison (data never leaves your phone)

more New in 3.5
• Smart print layout: font size adjusts automatically when luck, annual or monthly pillars are shown, so the chart and Five Elements summary fill exactly one page in larger, clearer type.
• Sort records by name: Chinese stroke count, or A–Z using Hong Kong Cantonese romanisation (Chan, Ho, Lee…).
• Supported languages now listed correctly: Traditional Chinese, Simplified Chinese, English, Japanese and Korean.

New in 3.4
• Hide stems and branches by position: pick any pillar — natal, luck, year, month or day — and fade just its stem or branch.
• Compare two charts: the second chart can now be a newly entered date and time, not only a saved record.
• Zi Wei chart shows decade, annual and monthly transformations (Lu, Quan, Ke, Ji) for the luck pillar, year and month you select, marks the decade/annual/monthly Life palaces, and lists which natal palace each transformation falls in.
• On iPad with a mouse or trackpad, flow rows scroll with ‹ › buttons or by dragging.

New in 3.2
• Favourable and unfavourable elements: besides the five elements you can now pick individual stems (10) and branches (12); an individual pick overrides its element. Up to 4 elements each.
• Hide stems and branches everywhere: pick any stems and branches, no limit — they fade in the natal chart, luck, annual, monthly and daily pillars, the year table, hidden stems and the printout. Hiding a single natal position is still available.
• ±60-year compare: the table now adds the selected luck pillar; after shifting, the Zi Wei, Qi Men and astrology charts are recast for the new date, and the Qi Men chart shows the new BaZi alongside.
• iPad: the More menu uses two columns, so every chart is visible in landscape.
• Small and short screens: the luck panel now fills the remaining space.
3.2 Oct 2
New in 3.1
• Favourable and unfavourable elements: pick 1–3 favourable and 1–3 unfavourable elements; luck, annual, monthly and daily pillars are shaded blue or red, on screen and in the printout. Saved with each record.
• Hide a natal stem or branch: fade any stem or branch in the natal chart to study the chart without it.
• Zi Wei Dou Shu chart: More → Zi Wei chart, with the twelve palaces, stars, birth-year transformations and decade ranges.
• Qi Men Dun Jia natal chart: More → Qi Men chart, cast for the moment of birth.
• Western astrology natal chart: More → Astrology Chart, with planets, signs, Placidus houses and aspects.
• Zi Wei and Qi Men charts sit below the luck pillars so you can read them with the BaZi chart; shrink or enlarge them.
• Easier year selection in the Ganzhi picker, with direct year entry.
• iPad: connecting to a TV or external display now mirrors the chart for teaching; records are hidden while mirroring or recording.
• Layout stays clear with enlarged system text.

• Tap any hidden stem in the natal chart to use it as the reference point; all Ten Gods update at once. Tap the Day pillar to restore

COMPARE TWO CHARTS
• View two charts at once — stacked on iPhone in portrait, side by side on iPad and in landscape
• Each chart carries its own Luck Cycle and Annual rows, selectable independently
• Tap the year at the top and both charts jump to that same year, each aligning to its own Luck Cycle — so you can see at a glance what each person is running in a given year
• Pick charts from your records, or use the one you are currently viewing
NOTES
• Every chart can carry a note — what the client said, clues for confirming the birth hour, anything worth remembering
• Write one from three places: when saving a record, from More on the chart screen, or when editing a record
• Notes appear in the records list and are included in search
• Notes sync via iCloud and travel with exports, but are never printed on a chart
EXPORT SELECTED RECORDS
• A new Select mode in Records lets you choose specific records to export
• Backup file: contains only the chosen records and can be imported by someone else
• Text file: four pillars, birth details and notes, neatly laid out, ready to send by message or email
CHINESE DATE WHEEL
• A new wheel for the birth date — year, month, day, hour, minute, each cell labelled with its Ganzhi, with the four pillars shown live above
• Settings offers three ways to enter a birth time: wheel, typed entry, or the Ganzhi picker
ALSO
• Settings can now show the current Luck Cycle and year immediately after casting a chart
• Fixed: switching the Annual or Monthly pillar did not refresh the rows below it
2.6 Aug 24
NEW GANZHI DATE PICKER
• Birth date is now chosen step by step — year, month, day, hour — with the matching pillar shown live at every step
• Year, month and day all scroll up and down without limit; decade, year and month headings keep long scrolls readable
• The hour step offers thirteen cells (early Zi, Chou … Hai, late Zi). Early and late Zi produce different day pillars, so picking a cell removes the guesswork
• The picker applies true solar time and daylight/winter corrections, so the pillars it shows match the cast chart exactly
THREE WAYS TO ENTER A BIRTH TIME
• Wheel picker (as before), typed entry, or the new Ganzhi picker — switch in Settings
• Typed entry uses five fields (year, month, day, hour, minute) on a 24-hour clock, advancing automatically as you fill each one; minutes are optional
AUTOMATIC DAYLIGHT / WINTER TIME CHECK
• Pick a birthplace and date and the app checks that location's historical time rules: if daylight saving was in force it says so and corrects for it
• Added a "Winter time" option, mutually exclusive with "Daylight saving"
• Birthplaces expanded to 27, adding San Francisco, Seattle, Chicago, Houston, Boston, Phoenix, Honolulu, Calgary and Montreal
• Clock time distorted by daylight saving throws true solar time out by a whole double-hour, so this check prevents a wrongly cast chart
ALSO
• Date display can be set to D/M or M/D
• Step to the previous or next double-hour straight from the chart — useful when a birth hour is uncertain
• Clear button on the name field, and a "Clear all" action on the new-chart form
All chart calculations still run entirely offline. No personal data is collected.

LUCK CYCLES NOW SCROLL FREELY
• Major Luck, Annual, Monthly and Daily rows all scroll left and right — no longer capped at ten or twelve cells
• Scroll the monthly row straight into the previous or next year; scroll the daily row past a solar term into neighbouring months
• Major Luck scrolls centuries ahead; the annual row scrolls into adjacent Luck Cycles
EVERYTHING STAYS IN SYNC
• Pick a month from another year and the annual pillar follows; if that year falls in a different Luck Cycle, the Luck Cycle follows too
• Pick a day across a solar term and all three rows above realign
• The four pillars at the top — and anything you print — always match what you selected
ADDED
• Choose how daily pillars are shown: horizontal scroll (default) or full-month grid, switchable in Settings
• Cells outside the current selection are dimmed, and months from another year show that year, so it is obvious at a glance
All chart calculations still run entirely offline. No personal data is collected.
2.4 Aug 10
NEW LUCK-CYCLE LAYOUT
• Major Luck, Annual, Monthly, Daily pillars and the ±60-year comparison can all be shown at once — no more switching tabs
• Pick a Luck Cycle and the annual row opens right below it; the ten Luck Cycle cells stay put
• Every layer folds away independently, still showing what you selected
• Daily pillars now shown as a full-month grid
ADDED
• iCloud sync: iPhone and iPad signed in to the same Apple ID share your saved charts automatically. Data stays in your own iCloud — we cannot see it.
• Export / import backup: charts can be exported to a backup file and saved to the Files app, AirDropped or emailed
• Landscape layout: in landscape the toolbar moves to a vertical rail on the right, so the pillars and the luck cycles are both fully visible
• Saved records can now be edited: name, gender and birth details
FIXED
• Printing now uses the native iOS print panel — pick an AirPrint printer or save as PDF. The A4 layout has been redesigned and now includes a Five Elements reference.
• Tighter margins top and bottom — the chart now uses the full iPhone Pro Max screen
• ±60-year comparison: the Ten Gods were calculated against the original chart's Day Master instead of the shifted chart's own reference stem. Now corrected, and the stem in use is shown.
• ±60-year comparison now skips to the next cycle when a lunar day does not exist in the target year
• The four pillars shifted down by one row when a Luck Cycle or Annual pillar was selected
• Charts cast with "Birth hour unknown" no longer display a time
• Reverse date finder now follows Year → Month → Day → Hour
All chart calculations still run entirely offline. No personal data is collected.

• Every layer folds away independently, still showing what you selected — you control the layout
• Daily pillars now shown as a full-month grid

• Saved records can now be edited: name, gender and birth details
FIXED
• ±60-year comparison: the Ten Gods were calculated against the original chart's Day Master instead of the shifted chart's own reference stem. Now corrected, and the stem in use is shown.
• ±60-year comparison now skips forward to the next cycle when a lunar day (the 29th or 30th) does not exist in the target year, instead of stopping with an error
• The four pillars shifted down by one row when a Luck Cycle or Annual pillar was selected
• Charts cast with "Birth hour unknown" no longer display a time
• Printing now uses the native iOS print panel — pick an AirPrint printer or save as PDF
• Reverse date finder now follows Year to Month to Day to Hour
