Type is money. Every letter you own is a physical sort of metal sitting in one of twenty-six boxes, and the whole shop turns on how you spend and replace them.
Ligature is an idle print-shop where your inventory is the alphabet itself. Accept a commission and its headline is composed straight out of your type case — "REWARD FOR THE WESTGATE ROBBERS" spends four E's, two R's, a W, and so on. Come up short and the job simply cannot be set; the empty boxes glow rubric red until you cast more of that letter. Presses run the forme for paper and ink, pay you in coin, and then the type is distributed back into the case — minus a few sorts that break and drop into the hell box for melting.
Managing your letter-frequency portfolio is the entire game. Set the caster to a scarce letter, buy pig metal, strike new matrices so the foundry can cast the rare boxes — J, Q, X, Z — that the richer commissions demand. Hire journeymen, fit iron platens, and take a New Imprint to bank colophons: a permanent boost that carries your matrices forward into a fresh shop.
It runs while you're away: presses finish, formes distribute, the caster keeps minting. Come back to a full case and a stack of coin.
