What is worth looking at on the Moon tonight, where to find it in the sky, and when to go out. Plus the next seven nights at a glance.
Moonbound tells you what is worth looking at on the Moon tonight.
Open it and you see the sky as it really is: the Moon where it sits on tonight's pass, how high it is, which way to face, and how much of it is lit. Drag across the sky to see where it will be later on.
Below that are the sights worth your time tonight, picked from the way the Moon is lit and tilted right now. Each one tells you why tonight suits it, where to find it on the disc, and what happened there.
The next seven days are one tap away, so you can tell whether to go out tonight or wait for a better night.
Also inside:
A catalogue of 40 classic sights, from the dark seas you can pick out with binoculars to craters and valleys that need a telescope
A compass that points you to the Moon
A red light mode that keeps your eyes used to the dark
An alert on the nights that are genuinely special, when the light falls just right on something worth seeing
A camera view to help you line up a photo through your telescope
All of that works without paying.
Moonbound Pro adds the 14 harder sights: telescope targets, the Apollo landing sites, and the seas that only swing into view when the Moon tilts the right way. Monthly, yearly, or buy it once and keep it.

Ratings & Reviews
- This app hasn’t received enough ratings or reviews to display an overview.
Moonbound has been rebuilt around one question: is tonight worth going outside for?
The first thing you see now is the real sky, with the Moon where it actually is on tonight's pass, how high it is, which way to face and how much of it is lit. Drag it along to see where it will be later.
Tonight's best sights sit right underneath, each with a photo and the reason tonight suits it.
A new Upcoming tab gives you the next seven days, with the rise, high and set times for each one. Tap a day to see what that night looks like.
The whole catalogue of 40 sights is now there to browse any time, each with a photo, a map showing where it sits on the Moon, and the story of the place.
A compass in the corner points you at the Moon, and opens full screen when you tap it.
Red light mode is one tap away in the menu and dims the whole screen, status bar included.
You can now get an alert on the rare nights when something really is worth seeing.
The journal is gone. Moonbound shows you what the sky is doing and leaves the judging to you.
If something feels off, there is a feedback option in the menu.
