AetherEngine player on iPhone and iPad with iOS 18 or newer: films with Dolby Vision, HDR and Dolby Atmos play in the picture and sound your device supports, also in MKV files, and AirPlay sends them to an Apple TV. Pick it in Settings → Player. Restart channel in the player opens a stuttering or frozen channel again with one tap. A match centre over the game you watch: the score, every channel of your playlist that shows the match, stats, lineups and the league table. Sports also gets Last results, basketball player stats and the sports channels of your playlist in one place. Catch-up can be filtered by favorites, groups and categories, and the next programme starts by itself when one ends. Mark a whole season or series as watched, see watched titles ticked off in all your playlists, and rate a film for Trakt or TMDB as it ends. With several playlists, Movies and Series sort them as one list, and Home has Recently added for each playlist. Trailers play at the top of a film or series page with sound, and you choose how long the player info stays on screen. Channels with sound over a black picture, often in 4K, and downloaded MKV, AVI or TS files now play with VLC by themselves.

Jellyfin, Emby and Plex: add your own media server next to your playlists, and its films and series show up in Movies, Series and search. Light colours in Settings → Appearance, and Panel opacity to let your theme picture show through. Each profile picks its own. Trailers can play by themselves at the top of a film or series page, muted or with sound. Off until you turn on Play trailers automatically in Settings → Player. Sports shows the scores of every team you follow, and Hide scores keeps results away until you choose to see them. Load your own .srt or .vtt subtitle file, and move subtitles higher or lower on the picture. On the iPad the app turns with the device, and on the iPhone you can pause a channel in the small picture.

New Sports section: today’s matches, races and other events with live scores, tables, line-ups and highlights. Pick a match and it plays on the channel of your own playlist that shows it. Follow your teams, players and competitions: their matches come first, and Home shows a followed match while it is on. An alert comes 15 minutes before a followed match starts. Sports mode in the player keeps live scores over the picture, and you can pick several matches to watch together in multiview. Connect Trakt in Settings → Integrations: what you watch is marked on both sides, your lists come to Home and title pages show IMDb, Rotten Tomatoes and Metascore ratings. Live channels start faster on slow providers and come back by themselves after a short drop. Multiview windows reconnect by themselves after a freeze or an outage. An adult profile decides which playlists the other profiles can open, and a device can always open in the same profile. A film’s page shows its picture quality and file size, and you can pin a genre to the top of the category list. Channels that send only MPEG-TS and channels with rtsp, rtmp or udp addresses now play. The app no longer stops reacting after an update when your profile has a PIN. Fixes for several smaller issues.

Film and series pages have a new look, and posters and channel lists show clean titles with labels for year, language and quality. Subtitles and audio tracks are remembered for each film and series, also across your devices. Multiview has a picture-in-picture layout, and a channel can move to another window. Browse Movies and Series by genre (needs your TMDB account). The player has a mute button, and you choose how far the skip buttons jump. The AirPlay button now shows in the player, and scrolling and opening titles are smoother.

• MAC portals: add a Stalker or Ministra portal like any other playlist. • AirPlay: send a film or a channel to an Apple TV straight from the player. • The OLED theme is now truly black. • Optionally keep playlist passwords in your account, so every device is ready to watch. • Playlists update much faster, and playback starts without the app freezing.

The player shows what you are watching next to the channel name: SD, HD, Full HD or 4K, the frame rate, and Stereo or 5.1 sound. Film and series pages on iPhone read as one page: trailers, the cast in a row, the key facts and related titles below. Related titles stay in the language of the film you opened, and with TMDB connected the plot and genres come in your language. Posters come from TMDB first, and tiles no longer blink when you return to a screen. Seeking lands sooner, and a burst of quick taps makes a single jump. Turning the phone sideways to open the full screen is now a player setting, off at first, and turning back no longer closes the player. A new version is offered in a banner instead of a dialog that blocks the screen.

Several playlists at once: tick more than one in the playlist switcher, and Live TV, the guide, Movies, Series, search and the home screen show them together, with every tile saying which playlist it comes from. Favorites, groups, history and reminders stay exactly as they were. The app speaks Arabic, Urdu and Hindi, and in Arabic and Urdu the whole layout reads from right to left. On iPhone and iPad the app no longer stalls for a few seconds every time something starts playing. On iPhone, turning the phone sideways while a channel plays opens the full screen, and turning it back closes it. Pressing Back after stepping through the versions of a film leaves them all at once. Resetting all data on iPhone no longer restarts the app in place.

Missing posters fill themselves in while you browse, and a cover your provider cannot serve is replaced with the real artwork. On Apple TV, closing a programme in the guide puts you back on that programme, the audio and subtitle tracks are written out as a list, and Resume on the home screen resumes. iPad can run the TV layout as an experiment, and every screen stands up in landscape. A locked iPhone stops reporting a sync error when it cannot reach the encryption key with the screen off. Signing in as somebody else takes the previous profiles off the device with it. A provider that only serves MPEG-TS is believed on every refresh, and one whose certificate will not validate says so in plain words. Fixes for crashes when a list shrinks while you are scrolling it.

The app now speaks Polish, German, Spanish, French, Italian, Dutch, Portuguese, Romanian, Turkish and Indonesian. Live TV mobile opens on your provider's groups and remembers the one you were in. A Buffer size setting under Playback, for a weak device or a slow connection. The desktop app has an Interface size setting, so more fits on the screen. A series opens on the episode you would resume, marked in the list. Closed captions now work on live channels on Android. Fixes for the remote on the TV, the guide, versions, and running in a window.

The PIN now belongs to a profile instead of the whole app. A profile with a PIN asks for it at start and before a locked category, and a profile without one, Kids included, never sees a locked category anywhere: not in lists, not in Recently watched, not in search. Forgot it? Your account confirms who you are and removes it. Profiles can also wear one of twenty picture avatars instead of an emoji, and the picture travels with the profile to your other devices. Every version of a film or series your provider carries is listed, your own language first, each one saying what audio and subtitles it holds, and series cards gained Related, the creators, the network and the episode length. Signing in from another device moved to the first screen next to Google, Apple and email, and Send your data now carries your playlist passwords, encrypted for that one device, plus the encryption key itself if your synced data is encrypted, so a locked device stops asking for the recovery code. Settings → Appearance lets you switch off home rows you never use without losing your history. Playback is steadier throughout: films and episodes get more time to start on a slow link, a dropped connection or a provider out of stream slots reconnects on the same player instead of falling back to VLC, VLC no longer mistakes a lost stream for the end of a film, and Zoom, Fill and Stretch work on VLC on the TV again. Live channels whose address ends in .ts finally play on iPhone, iPad and Apple TV, and when a carrier hands the player a block page instead of the film, the app says so and names the address. Pause a live channel and LIVE dims with a Go live button to jump back to the edge. The TV guide loads on the first try on a fresh install, a playlist added on the phone gets its guide right away, and Keep the guide for frees the space it promises. Casting marks a TV that cannot take the stream as Unsupported, updating right after a sync no longer crashes, and on the desktop app, providers that redirect to another server work again.

New Family add-on: one Premium subscription now covers four phones and two TVs. More live channels play. The app works out the format your provider allows, and when a channel still will not start it tells you what went wrong. A channel that stops to buffer no longer starts over from the beginning. Playlists can keep a backup address and switch to it when your provider goes quiet. Adding a playlist got easier: paste any link and the app works out what it is.
