AirPods that support high-quality recording now just work: connect them and Slate records from them automatically, at full quality. The record screen names the microphone in use, and tapping it lists every device you can record from. If headphones cannot deliver audio, Slate says so in seconds instead of recording silence. Recording is also dramatically smoother: the screen was rebuilt to take almost no rendering work, and the session sits properly centered.

The first session, rebuilt. Onboarding ends inside the recorder, ready to listen, and introduces the lock screen widget along the way. After your first entry, Slate asks once about a daily reminder, with the time ready to change. The home screen widget now carries a rotating prompt, and tapping any widget opens the recorder. Also: deleting an entry confirms in a bottom sheet, copying shows a quiet toast, and the timeline scrolls more smoothly.

Type an entry when speaking is not the moment. Start a recording straight from the Action button. Reflections name the people and events that mattered, and your Sunday review arrives reliably, in your own words when one line carried the day.

A plugged-in microphone is now used automatically. And if Slate can't hear you at the start of a recording, it says so and offers the iPhone mic, instead of recording silence.

A recording that reaches a time limit is now saved, never lost, and choosing no limit now means what it says.

Your Sunday review always arrives now, even when Slate cannot find a thread in the week. If a reflection fails, it says so and you can try it again.

Reinstalling Slate now brings your transcripts and reflections back from your iCloud on their own, and the waiting screen ends instead of spinning. Improved recording screen. Improved icon.

Lifetime is now buyable if you already subscribe. It is in Settings, under Subscription. A purchase takes effect the moment it goes through. Before, it could leave you looking at the plans again as though nothing had happened. Settings names the plan you are on rather than just saying you are subscribed. Reinstalling Slate brings your transcripts and reflections back from your iCloud on its own, if backup was on. Your recordings only ever exist on the phone that made them, so those do not come back.

Reflections are rewritten. They now say back what you actually said, tied to the sentence they came from, instead of guessing at what you meant. They no longer tell you the opposite of what you said, and they no longer read as blame. The Sunday review no longer walks through your week day by day, and it can no longer hang forever. If it does fail, it says so and offers to try again. Fixes: a subscription that would not restore and kept showing the purchase screen, which now recovers on its own. The iCloud backup setting now says plainly that it backs up transcripts and reflections, and that your recordings are never backed up. Sheets you open from a notification now have a close button.

Pay once if you prefer. A lifetime option joins the plans, one payment, yours forever. Record with AirPods or wired headphones. Export your journal from Settings, every word, as Markdown or JSON. A single entry exports from its own page. Reflections read long entries more carefully and stay closer to your words. Every entry now has a Copy button for its transcript. Fixes: a crash when rerunning a reflection with added context, entries that showed reflecting forever on iPhones without Apple Intelligence, and clearer messages when transcription fails, including which languages are supported. Failed entries now keep your recording when a retry can recover it.

Your recording now lives on the Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island. Start a session, pocket the phone, and the timer stays with you. Lock Screen widgets start a session with one tap. Also fixed: onboarding could hide the Continue button at larger text sizes.
