Movies, made your way. Choose drawings like in Photos: slide across, then drag down to pick many at once. Or switch to dates and pick whole days. Everything is chosen to start with. Long films: hundreds of drawings, many minutes long. If the app is interrupted, it carries on where it stopped. My Movies keeps every film, ready to watch again, change and remake. Grown-ups can turn on saving to Photos once in Settings; after that every new film is added there by itself. Sharper pictures: drawings are redrawn from their original pen strokes at the size of the film. Quality follows the device automatically, up to 4K, or grown-ups can pick 480p to 4K. A film made on an older device can be remade sharper on a new one. Grown-ups can add the creator's name to the opening card. Teach a single tiny dot and the pet first asks for a bigger drawing. New films leave out old tiny dots; one tap adds them back. The full backup now keeps sharper, larger drawings.

Fixed: making a movie could quit the app right at the end, while the music and narration were being put together. It doesn't any more. Real piano. The film is now scored with nursery songs played on a grand piano - Twinkle Twinkle, Butterfly, Spring Has Come - instead of the synthesized tune. Each new film picks the next song. The date, if you want it. The opening card can show the day the film was made. Grown-ups can switch it off in Settings. Sharing a film now hands it over as a video, so apps that take videos show it as one instead of as a file attachment.

Fixed: making a movie could quit the app partway through - the more your child had drawn, the more likely it was. It doesn't any more. Movies come alive. Drawings of the same thing sitting next to each other in the book now play as a flipbook and walk across the screen, so your child's five cats become five frames of hand-drawn animation. One film also holds far more drawings than before - a whole book can fit. Tidy your book. Press and hold any drawing to drag it into a new order, or throw it away. The movie follows that order, so putting the same thing together is how you make it move. Throwing a drawing away never touches what the apprentice remembers. Also: big drawing books open faster, the drawing book lays out correctly on iPad in both portrait and landscape, and the big answer in Quiz now follows your text size setting.

This update adds an optional tip jar in the grown-ups area, for families who want to support development. It unlocks nothing - every feature stays free, and there are still no ads, no accounts and no data collection.

One egg a day - and now there is always a next one. DAILY QUEST (new) - A new egg hatches every day with one small thing to do: trace, teach, quiz, or a lesson about how AI learns - Over 1200 handmade levels across 24 islands. Every 50 levels hatches a brand new dragon - Miss a day and nothing is lost - skipped eggs wait in the nest to catch up later - Grown-ups set the pace: 1, 3, 5 a day, or no limit - After 1200 levels the Endless Sea begins, so the levels never run out - New kinds of levels teach real ideas: tell two look-alikes apart, see why one example is not enough, draw it upside down and find out what it still knows, and hunt down a drawing that was filed under the wrong name YOUR APPRENTICE IS A DINOSAUR NOW - Start from an egg and evolve: Baby Dino, Little Dino, Big Dino, all the way to Dino Master - Talk to it: teach it out loud. It learns your words and talks back using only what you taught it - Ask Dr. Dino: ask a question and a friendly dino teacher explains in simple words, right on your device NEW WAYS TO DRAW - Draw along: a pencil draws a picture stroke by stroke, slowly, for you to trace - 8 colours and 3 pen sizes. Neither changes what your pet recognizes, so every drawing counts - Bigger canvas on every screen MY DRAWING BOOK (new) - Every drawing your child ever taught, as a book: a shelf with 2, 3 or 4 per row, tap one to open it big, pinch to zoom, swipe to turn the page IT KNOWS YOU BETTER - It recognizes drawings more reliably, especially once your child has taught it many different things - It now warns you the moment you draw two things too much alike, so you can make them different while it still matters - When it gets one wrong it tells you exactly how many examples it had, so you know what to do about it - It has a diary: it remembers what you did together and sometimes brings it up - It coaches back: it notices unbalanced lessons and admits which two things it mixes up - It speaks more slowly, with little pauses, so young kids can follow FOR GROWN-UPS - Share a drawing, make a movie of everything your child taught, or export album pages and a full backup - Learn English along the way: teach in Chinese and it shows and speaks the English too. Can be switched off - The "Talk to it" button can now be hidden from the home screen - The parent area is tidier: every explanation is tucked behind a small info button, so the switches are easy to find - Everything above sits behind the grown-ups-only gate Privacy as always: everything runs on your device. No recordings kept, no accounts, no ads, nothing collected. Pictures only leave the device when a grown-up chooses to share one. Note: "Ask Dr. Dino" needs the on-device intelligence in newer iPhone and iPad models on the latest iOS. Everything else works on every supported device.
