MLXUI - AI Browser to run MLX Models and AI Workflow to automate Local LLM. MLXUI: Run MLX Models Visually and use a Readable AI Workflow to automate Local LLM Browse, download, and run local AI models on your Mac — no terminal, no Python, no command-line flags. MLXUI is a native SwiftUI frontend for Apple's MLX framework. It is the user interface layer for mlx-swift: the place where anyone on a Mac can discover, install, and try out local AI models without ever touching a terminal. Built on mlx-swift and mlx-libraries, it provides purpose-built Run interfaces for every model type — chat for LLMs, a microphone and live transcript for ASR, a voice picker for TTS, an image dropwell for OCR, and more. WHAT MLXUI DOES • Browse a curated catalog of MLX models from Hugging Face's mlx-community — organized by what they do: Text, Vision, Speech, Image, Embeddings • One-click install — downloads model files directly from Hugging Face with progress tracking • Use Local AI models in other apps • Dedicated Run interfaces — not a generic wrapper. Each model type gets a UI built for it: — LLMs: chat interface — ASR (Whisper, Voxtral): microphone + live transcript — TTS (Kokoro, MLXAudioTTS): voice picker + audio player — Vision (VLM): upload an image and ask questions — OCR: drop an image and extract text — Laya , CLM Decision model — Embeddings: input text, get vectors — SDXL-Turbo image generation — MusicGen, SAM3 Image Segmentation — AI Image Upscaling with SeedVR2 WHY MLXUI • 100% local — everything runs on-device. Your audio, images, and text never leave your Mac • No API keys, no per-token pricing — models download once and run forever at zero cost • No Python required — install models, pick settings from a menu, click Run. That's it • Self-documenting — each model shows its size, speed, quality benchmarks, and hardware requirements before you install WHO THIS IS FOR • Developers exploring local AI models without setting up Python environments • Researchers who need to test multiple models across different modalities • Students learning about AI by running models locally • Mac users who want to experiment with AI privately, no cloud required • Anyone tired of copy-pasting terminal commands to try a new model WHAT YOU NEED • A Mac with Apple Silicon (M1 or later) • macOS 14.0 (Sonoma) or later • Enough free disk space for the models you want to install (most are 1–8 GB each) SUPPORTED MODELS Curated models across 7 categories. Every model listed below is downloadable and runnable with a dedicated Run UI. Chat & Text (8): Gemma 3 (1B), Ministral 3 (3B), Qwen3 (8B), Llama 3.1 (8B), Qwen 3.5 (9B) Gemma 2 (9B), Qwen2.5 (14B), Qwen3.8-27B, GPT-OSS (21B), Devstral-Small 2 (24B) Ternary-Bonsai (27B) FLUX.1-Lite (8B) - image generation from a text prompt Vision (4): LFM2-VL (1.6B), Gemma 3 (4B), Qwen3-VL (4B), Gemma 3 (12B) OCR (4): PaddleOCR-VL (1.5B), DeepSeek-OCR-2 (3.4B), dots.ocr (1.5B), olmOCR 2 (7B), GLM-OCR Speech-to-Text (4): Whisper tiny/small/large-v3, Voxtral-Mini (4B) Text-to-Speech (4): Kokoro (82M), Qwen3-TTS (0.9B), Chatterbox (1.3B), Orpheus (3B) Embeddings (4): all-MiniLM-L6, embeddinggemma (300M), ModernBERT-embed, bge-m3 (568M) More models are added with every release with new Run UIs for unsupported types (image generation, music generation) are actively being built. Tools Chat models can use tools: browse the web, run calculations, transcribe audio, read images, and work in folders you grant — all locally, with your approval. Fast repeat prompts Coding agents send the same long instructions with each message. MLXUI now remembers that work. AN OPEN SOURCE PROJECT — CONTRIBUTE MLXUI is a free and open source GitHub project. Its mission: build the definitive SwiftUI user interface layer for every MLX model on Hugging Face. The codebase is modular — adding a new model type touches only that model's folder. • This app hasn’t received enough ratings or reviews to display an overview.

New AI Workflows • Cut Out the Subject • Upscale a Small Photo • A Voiceover Bed Local Server, now with its own screen • Turn it on in Settings → Local Server → Enable Local Server. A new Local Server screen in the sidebar shows what you’re serving, live status, memory use, request stats and a recent-requests log. • Served models load as soon as you turn on Serve, so the first reply starts in under a second. • Models you serve stay ready for your apps. If chat, a Run window or a flow needs that memory, MLXUI asks before unloading one. • Smarter memory handling: every model is counted at its real size, and a model is never unloaded while it’s working, which prevents slowdowns and swapping. • A status card on Home shows what’s being served at a glance. • As before, the Local Server listens only on this Mac, and nothing leaves your device.
