PLACES lists your saved spots with their color stage and peak date. • Winter sky: rise and set times for Orion, the winter Milky Way and Andromeda, and tonight's report suggests them on dark, clear nights. • Emberlight scores are steadier and more accurate, and say when the forecast is solid or uncertain. The Week Ahead on Today shows the dawns, dusks and clear nights worth planning around. • ISS: a chase map with directions for Sun and Moon transits, plus optional pass and transit alerts. • Eclipse heads-ups a month, a week and a day ahead, then a final reminder, with a switch in Settings. • The moon calendar shows each night's own times and marks the dark-core nights. • Scout Nearby spots open into a card with the drive time and directions, and the Field Guide flags any sky event you shouldn't miss. See tonight's real sky from your desk: the Milky Way is now NASA's survey of the galaxy's light, placed for your exact spot and minute. • Sky Tonight, the Viewfinder and the Sky Window draw the photographic Milky Way, dimmed by moonlight and twilight the way the night will dim it. • The Sky Window is now a true lens view of the real sky, with the real stars to magnitude 6.5, each in its own colour. • Ready for winter: when the Milky Way core stays down, Sky Tonight marks the winter Milky Way, Orion and Andromeda. • Dusk and dawn now glow from the sun's side of the sky. • Updated License Agreement: you'll be asked to accept it once. • Reliability improvements and fixes.

ISS Tracker now loads reliably, everywhere. • Orbit data comes from three independent sources, so the live position, passes and Sun and Moon transits load in seconds. • If the orbit servers can't be reached, the tracker says so and keeps retrying on its own — with a Try again button — instead of waiting. • Reliability improvements and fixes.

Tonight's aurora, cloud and Milky Way conditions now refresh together with one click or ⌘R, and the Field Manual got a big upgrade. • Refresh (↻ or ⌘R) updates everything at once: tonight's reports, weather, space weather and weather warnings. • Field Manual: 80+ topics you can browse by category, with every feature explained in plain language (the settings gear in the sidebar → Field Manual). • Scout Nearby only suggests scenic places such as waterfalls, viewpoints, lakes, parks and trails, not businesses that happen to share a name. • Field Guide tips only mention tides and cold water at your coastal spots. • The 10-day forecast follows your °C / °F setting. • Weather warnings no longer get stuck on "Checking…", and if a check can't finish they say so instead of showing an all-clear.

Today's Insight no longer invents a date. The on-device writer now knows what day it is, is told never to say so, and any lead that names a year or runs long is replaced by the plain field brief.

The Today card now says where tonight's best site actually is. Comet Watch: the outlook line now follows the comet's actual trend. Emberlight alerts are stricter about what earns a push: three forecast models have to agree, the light path toward the sun is checked, and a low ceiling or rain reported nearby holds the alert.

The Kp forecast in the 27-Day Outlook now runs hour by hour across the full three days instead of a handful of three-hour blocks.

Plan a shot from the top of the Sky page. The planning tools — Map Planner, Viewfinder, Find the Spot, Night Sky, Sky Window and Darklight — now sit in a deck at the top of the Sky page, above tonight's Milky Way window, with tonight's events underneath in their own section. The Viewfinder, now on the Mac. Drop a second pin on the thing you actually want in the frame — a lighthouse, a butte, a mountain — and Shutter Scout draws it at its true angular size with the moon, sun or Milky Way core exactly where they will be, inside a rectangle that is your sensor at your focal length. Find the Spot answers the harder question: ask for the moon behind Mount Hood at 600 mm and it hands back a coordinate and a minute. Alignment Window scans the next 60 nights for every crossing. Also new: Coming Up — eclipses, full moons, meteor peaks and conjunctions reach the report and Field Guide with lead time; the eclipse rarity bar; a comet watch ranked on merit; and the full tide report. Sky Cover radar loads every frame before it plays, then runs smoothly off memory. Fall Color: a seasonal Today card, only during the approach to autumn and the season itself, that estimates when the places you follow, and where you are standing, will turn, peak and fade — and what light to shoot it in.

Ready for the winter sky: when Milky Way core season winds down, the app now recommends the winter roster — Winter Milky Way arch, Orion, Andromeda, Pleiades, Double Cluster, California Nebula, and the Rosette — each with real imaging windows and field advice. On fall nights when the core and the winter sky share one night, it recommends both: core early, deep sky late. Also: the Emberlight extended forecast fits on one page and labels the alert window honestly (alerts only ever fire for the next two events), Mountain Weather gains an overnight line per elevation band plus a snow-level estimate, and the Sky page is reordered for faster reads.

Lunar eclipse visibility map: open any lunar eclipse and see the globe layered with the same five bands published eclipse charts use — entire eclipse, all of the partial phase, some of the partial phase, penumbral only, and not visible. Your saved spots drop as pins, so "am I in it?" is answered by looking. Also fixed: a map-projection error that shifted eclipse overlays at high latitudes, which affected the solar partial-coverage wash too, and the 27-day aurora outlook now shows every date in full.

NOAA NEXRAD is now the primary source across the U.S. — five-minute frames and real detail deep into the zoom — with RainViewer on higher-resolution tiles everywhere else. • The Aurora Kp panel is now a live graph: the one-minute estimated trend, the official three-hour forecast, and the G1–G5 storm thresholds on one chart. • Supermoons and named full moons. Tonight's moon name and distance, the next supermoon on the calendar, and moonset times that correctly reach past midnight. • Max shutter before star trails. Set your sensor, focal length and aperture in the Night Sky Planner and the NPF limit follows you onto the Milky Way card. • Storm alerts now escalate visually from G1 to G5, so a severe night never looks like a quiet one. • Better offline behaviour. Dark-sky and forecast layers keep drawing from cache when the signal drops at the tripod. • Aurora numbers now come from SWPC's authoritative spacecraft feed, so they match the dashboards you cross-check. • Weather warnings refresh continuously while the window stays open, and the bioluminescence forecast no longer overrates a dead-calm night.

Clearer purchases. • If you buy Pro for Life while a subscription is still running, Shutter Scout now tells you plainly and takes you straight to Apple's cancellation screen. Buying Lifetime can't cancel a subscription automatically — so you'll no longer be left quietly paying for something you already own. • A reminder stays in Settings until the subscription actually stops renewing, so it can't be missed. Cancelling never affects your Lifetime access. You keep Pro either way.

Accuracy and control. • Refined prediction algorithms — most visibly Arclight (rainbow odds), which now tracks live conditions far more tightly. • Coastal water temperature is now sampled from a marine model at your spot's own coordinates, correcting readings at some beaches. Bio Blue, which uses water temperature, is more accurate as a result. • Lightning alerts: set a maximum number of alerts per hour so an all-night storm doesn't ping you every ten minutes, and choose a 25- or 50-mile watch radius. • Sky Cover now tells you when Reduce Motion or Low Power Mode is holding the animation still — and the play button will override it. • Aurora charts no longer let a single bad telemetry sample distort the scale.

Space-weather accuracy update — every Aurora number now matches NOAA SWPC exactly, verified live against the source. • Kp shows the OFFICIAL 3-hour value — the same number you see on SWPC and SpaceWeatherLive — with the live 1-minute estimate labeled beside it, and a full 24-hour Kp graph with forecast and storm thresholds. • Solar wind, Bz, Bt, and density always read the exact spacecraft NOAA designates as authoritative — including in the desktop widget, updated for NOAA's new data feeds. • The Aurora status card now thinks ahead: when NOAA forecasts a storm window later tonight it says "G1 INCOMING" with the local-time window instead of "quiet" right up until the storm hits. • Moon panel: the next Full Moon (with its traditional name) and the next Supermoon, so you can plan those shoots weeks ahead.
