Feed Me RSS
Your feeds, beautifully read
Free
Short on time? On iPhone, catch up with CarPlay: listen to AI summaries or full articles from your feeds and folders, follow Story notes and save favourites with Siri.
Your feeds. Along for the ride. Read, listen and catch up with Feed Me RSS.
Follow the RSS and Atom feeds you choose, organise them into folders, and keep your reading state in sync across iPhone, iPad and Mac with iCloud. No AI account or paid AI subscription is required.
YOUR FEEDS IN CARPLAY
On iPhone, browse your own feeds and folders, choose unread or all articles, or continue your listening queue. Short on time? Hear concise AI summaries to catch up quickly, or choose full articles for a longer listen. Use native CarPlay playback controls, see the source, change speed and save the current article. Ask Siri to save it for later without interrupting your listening. Connecting to CarPlay never starts playback automatically.
READ YOUR FEEDS AS ONE CONTINUOUS SESSION
Start with a summary or excerpt, expand the stories you want and keep several open as you read. New arrivals wait until you choose to add them, and read stories stay in your session until you start again. Save, queue, highlight or open the original without losing your place.
TURN YOUR READING PILE INTO A LISTENING QUEUE
Listen to concise AI summaries or choose full articles, with no 30-story queue limit. On-device neural voices bring stories to life, while the mini player keeps play, pause and previous/next controls close as you browse. Story notes show the current article’s AI summary in your listening player and follow the queue as each story changes. Save interesting stories without interrupting your queue. Completed and skipped stories are automatically marked as read. Queueing and pausing do not mark stories read. CarPlay’s Notes tab shows the current AI summary as scrollable text.
Ask Siri to “save for later in Feed Me RSS” to add the playing story to Read Later, or favourite it for Saved/Starred. An article can be in both lists.
PRIVATE APPLE INTELLIGENCE
Summarise an article, ask it questions, reframe the explanation, pull out key sentences, translate, or explore why it matters. Compatible devices do the AI work locally. Choose the tools you want to see and whether article-list summaries should be prepared automatically. Completed AI summaries also appear on Front Page story cards, clearly marked so you can tell them from publisher excerpts.
READING THAT FITS YOUR SCREEN
Use native split reading on iPad and Mac, with a compact article/list layout when space is tight. Mac remembers each feed’s view, restores your reading window and gives you keyboard commands for continuous reading and article expansion.
On supported wide iOS devices, choose Scrolling, Book or Desk. Duo also adapts to its posture, with facing pages in Book and a reader above the controls in Desk.

A calmer way to catch up. A better way to listen.
LISTEN WHILE YOU GET ON WITH YOUR DAY
New on-device neural narration reads AI summaries or full articles aloud. A mini player stays with you as you browse, with play, pause and story navigation. Save a story or add it to Read Later while listening. Finished stories have their own listened status, with a separate option to mark them as read together. Source introductions repeat only when the feed changes.
YOUR DAILY HIGHLIGHTS, WITH THE SOURCES
Today’s Brief brings together highlights from today’s unread articles, shaped by your reading interests. Follow the links straight to the original stories, or mark the covered articles as read together. Prefer a simpler reader? Hide the brief in Settings.
MORE CONTROL, LESS HUNTING
Settings now has clear categories and search. Find voices, summaries, feed updates, reading controls, alerts and storage without scrolling through one huge form. Today’s Brief, article-list summaries and listening choices have separate controls.
POWER TOOLS FOR YOUR READING PILE
Build a Quick Read queue for the time you have. Find articles with advanced search and smart filters. Snooze a story, keep notes and tags in Notebook, download Read Later articles for offline reading, and check subscriptions in Feed Health.
SMALL FIXES THAT MAKE A BIG DIFFERENCE
Smoother feed refreshes, more reliable mark-as-read actions, better feed discovery, and an Undo bar you can swipe away.
Apple Intelligence features require a compatible device with Apple Intelligence enabled. Neural narration runs on your device.

It unfolds.
Feed Me RSS is built for iPhone Duo. Open it on the inner display and your stories sit beside the article you are reading. Drag the divider wherever you want it, or push it past the edge for a full-width read and pull it back with a tap. The toolbar stands up along the right rail, the Reading Companion comes along with summaries and what to read next, and your place in a story survives every fold.
SUMMARIES THAT ARRIVE BEFORE YOU DO
Summaries are real background work now. Your unread pile quietly summarises itself while the app is closed, so a morning's backlog is already skimmable when you open it instead of starting from nothing while you wait. Apple Intelligence, on your own device, as always: nothing uploaded, no account, no fee.
BACKGROUND REFRESH THAT ACTUALLY REFRESHES
New stories, the unread badge and your widgets now update while the app is in your pocket, across every feed you subscribe to.
FASTER EVERYWHERE
Opening a story and swiping back no longer rebuilds the whole list behind the scenes, so lists, scrolling and the swipe back are quick again, and a refresh no longer brings everything to a halt while it runs.
ALSO IN THIS UPDATE
• Find in article gained up and down buttons that jump to each result, with a running count
• Your reading position is restored properly again when you return to a story
• Open in New Window is no longer offered when there is no story open
Your feeds, your pace. Go subscribe to something weird.

Big unread pile? Come on in.
All Unread now opens promptly, even when your reading list has serious ambitions. Stories appear straight away while matching headlines group quietly in the background. AI summaries no longer make you wait at the door, either.
We also gave the unread badge a reality check, made marking everything read more dependable, and kept recently read stories where you expect to find them.
Your feeds, your pace. Go subscribe to something weird.
1.7 Sep 27
Feed Me RSS is now completely free. All of it.
Every feed. Every theme, font, colour and app icon. Every widget. Focus mode, Markdown export, the Mac menu-bar reader, custom keyboard shortcuts, keyword alerts, reading stats. No subscription, no unlock, no ads, nothing saved for a "Pro" tier that never comes. We would rather you read.
RSS does the thing every algorithm promises and never quite delivers: it shows you exactly what you asked for, in the order it happened, with nobody in the middle deciding what you should have wanted instead. Thirty years on it is still the best deal in news — and it deserves a reader that isn't trying to sell you anything.
SUMMARIES, FOR WHEN 200 UNREAD IS NOT A PLAN
Switch on AI summaries and your unread pile quietly summarises itself in the background — on your device, most interesting stories first, before you even open the list. Two sentences per story, so you can skim a morning's backlog in a couple of minutes and open only what earns it.
It runs on Apple Intelligence, right on your iPhone, iPad or Mac. Nothing is uploaded. Nothing is logged. No account, no server, no per-month fee. It even works on a plane.
ALSO IN THIS UPDATE
• A regenerate button next to the summaries switch — rewrites the summaries for the list you're looking at, including the short posts the automatic pass skips
• Summaries survive opening an article mid-batch
• Switching summaries off and on again resumes where it stopped instead of starting over
• One summary per story now, not one per outlet covering it
• Faster first summary, and text appears as it is written rather than all at once
• A leaner app: the paywalls, price checks and ad slots are gone
Thanks for reading. Go subscribe to something weird.

Seven days of everything, on the house.
FEED ME PLUS, FREE FOR A WEEK
Every new reader now gets the whole app unlocked for 7 days — unlimited feeds and all. No card, no countdown-with-teeth, nothing to cancel. Read like a maniac and see whether it earns a spot on your dock. (Already using Feed Me? Your week starts the moment you open this update.)
LISTEN TO ANY ARTICLE
Tap the headphones and Feed Me reads the piece aloud in your own system voice, at your own speaking rate — because you already picked those and we're not about to second-guess you. Ideal for the dishes, the dog, or the 400th minute of a commute. Add it from Settings → Reader Toolbar.
QUICK OPEN — press K
On Mac and iPad, hit Command-K and start typing. Any feed, any folder, any list, one keystroke away. Your sidebar can stay collapsed and smug.
A FASTER MAC
We found the app quietly recounting your entire library several times over every single time you clicked a story. It has been told to stop doing that. Clicking around should feel notably snappier.
Also: sharper feed matching, and a fix for a rare case where the app could be shy about recognising a purchase.
1.5 Aug 25
Feed Me now keeps an eye on your sources.
SPOT A DEAD FEED
Feeds die quietly. A site moves, a domain lapses, a publisher quietly drops RSS — and a reader will go on showing you the same old articles forever without ever mentioning it. Feed Me now tracks whether each source is actually still delivering, and flags the ones that have stopped in Manage Feeds, along with when they last worked. Nothing is removed: their existing articles stay exactly where they are, so you can decide what to do.
RECENT SEARCHES
Your last five searches now sit under the search field as one-tap chips — getting back to a search you just ran takes a click instead of retyping it.
SURPRISE ME, ON MAC AND IPAD
The random-unread pick from iPhone is now in the Mac and iPad sidebar too. One click drops you into something from the middle of the pile, instead of always reading from the top down.
1.4 Aug 15
Feed Me is now yours to tune — and the unread badge finally works.
POWER-USER CONTROLS
• Sort newest or oldest first, and choose what a tap opens: the built-in reader, the in-app browser, or your default browser.
• Text-only mode — skip images for a calmer read and less data.
• Reader typography: line spacing, paragraph spacing and (on Mac) column width, with a one-tap reset.
• Reading progress bar, mark-read-when-opened, and an optional confirmation before “Mark all read”.
• Choose how often feeds refresh while the app is open — every 5, 15, 30 or 60 minutes, or manually.
• See how much space cached images use, and clear them.
AI, YOUR WAY
• Show or hide each of the eight on-device AI tools individually, so the reader only offers what you use.
• Optionally summarise every article the moment it opens.
• A matching-sensitivity slider that tunes “More like this”, “Another angle” and same-story grouping — and same-story grouping can be switched off entirely.
A PROPER MAC SETTINGS WINDOW
Seven panes — General, Reading, AI, iCloud & Alerts, Advanced, Upgrades and Feeds & Sync — with everything explained.
FIXED
• The app-icon unread badge now works. macOS silently hides Dock badges unless the app holds notification permission, and Feed Me never asked — so the count was calculated correctly and never drawn. It now asks once, when there's actually something to show. The same trap affected the iPhone badge; that's fixed too.
• Sync status tells the truth: the sidebar and Settings now show a real warning if iCloud sync fails or your account is signed out, instead of always claiming “Up to date”.
• Read and starred state no longer gets lost when two devices touch the same article before syncing.
• If iCloud is briefly unavailable at launch, your library stays visible instead of the app opening empty.
1.3 Jul 27
Feed Me just grew a brain — and it runs entirely on your device.
• YOUR DIGEST — a free, on-device daily rundown that groups today's stories into themes and writes them up. Nothing leaves your device.
• ASK THE ARTICLE — real answers about what you're reading, with suggested questions written for that story.
• REFRAME IT — read any piece as a TL;DR, a plain-English explainer, just-the-facts, or key points.
• KEY SENTENCES — see the article's own most important lines, pulled out — never AI-rewritten.
• EXPLAIN ANYTHING — select a confusing sentence or bit of jargon for a plain explanation in context.
• ANOTHER ANGLE — one tap to a different outlet covering the same story.
• WHY IT MATTERS, PLAIN HEADLINE, SHARE BLURB, TRANSLATE — the little tools that make reading faster.
• MORE LIKE THIS — every article points to genuinely related stories from your feeds.
• FOR YOU — a new list that learns what you actually read and floats what you'll care about to the top.
• MUTE BY MEANING — mute “crypto price moves” and it also hushes “Bitcoin slides 8%”.
• PLAIN-ENGLISH FILTERS — describe what you want to follow and Feed Me writes the filter.
• SMARTER SEARCH — now finds stories by meaning, not just exact words.
• SAME STORY, MANY FEEDS — a dozen outlets on one event collapse into a single card.
All of it runs on your device with Apple Intelligence: no account, no server, no cost, nothing leaves your iPhone, iPad or Mac. It even works offline.
Also fixed: Mac OPML import/export opens the file picker properly (drag an .opml onto the window too), sharper iCloud read/unread sync, Mark Older as Read, catch-up time, Continue reading, a tidier reading toolbar, and a fresh Coral app icon.

Feed Me just grew a brain — and it runs entirely on your device.
• ASK THE ARTICLE — tap Ask and get real answers about what you're reading, with suggested questions written for that specific story.
• REFRAME IT — read any piece as a TL;DR, a plain-English explainer, just-the-facts, or key points.
• EXPLAIN ANYTHING — select a confusing sentence or bit of jargon for a plain explanation in context.
• WHY IT MATTERS — one line on the stakes, not a recap.
• PLAIN HEADLINE — de-clickbait a headline into what the story actually says.
• TRANSLATE — read foreign-language stories in your own, on-device.
• MORE LIKE THIS — every article now points to genuinely related stories from your own feeds.
• FOR YOU — a new list that learns what you actually read and floats what you'll care about to the top.
• MUTE BY MEANING — mute “crypto price moves” and it also hushes “Bitcoin slides 8%”. No more keyword whack-a-mole.
• PLAIN-ENGLISH FILTERS — describe what you want to follow, and Feed Me writes the filter for you.
• SAME STORY, MANY FEEDS — when a dozen outlets cover one event, they collapse into one card.
Every bit of this runs on your device with Apple Intelligence: no account, no server, no cost, and nothing ever leaves your iPhone, iPad or Mac. It even works offline.
Also fixed: Mac OPML import/export opens the file picker properly (and you can drag an .opml onto the window), sharper iCloud read/unread sync, Mark Older as Read, catch-up time, Continue reading, a tidier reading toolbar, and a fresh Coral app icon.
1.1 Jul 23
• Mac: Import from OPML and Export OPML now work correctly — the file picker opens properly from Settings instead of doing nothing.
• “Reset Reading State” now asks you to confirm first, and clearly explains that it also unsubscribes you from every feed on all of your devices via iCloud.
1.0.2 Jul 20
Thanks for reading with Feed Me RSS! This update polishes the reading experience:
• Daily Brief (on-device): the same story reported by two outlets is now one point with every source linked — no more repeats
• Manage Folders now lists every folder — including ones created by a feed's own category — so any of them can be hidden
• Settings screens now slide in, so swipe-back works everywhere
• Accurate "min read" estimates on articles
• Cleaner previews for journal feeds (no citation boilerplate)
1.0.1 Jul 17
• Fixes article text jumping as reader images and layout update.
• Keeps loaded images steady when returning to an article.
• Improves image recovery after an offline download.
