Otonota is a meeting assistant for Apple silicon Macs. Press record, and what's said becomes text as it's spoken; a summary grows beside it. Everything happens on the machine, and by default audio and text never leave your Mac.

• Transcript on the left, summary on the right, updated every few lines
• Four summary modes: short summary, conversational summary, keywords, translation
• Choose the output language: follow an English meeting through a Japanese summary, or keep English notes from a lecture given in German
• Add product names and people to a glossary to improve both the transcript and the summary
■ Nothing leaves your Mac, by default
• Runs on Apple's speech recognition and Apple Intelligence, or on WhisperKit and MLX models running locally
• No network by default. No account. Works on a plane
• The one exception: with Apple Speech, macOS may use Apple's servers when on-device recognition for that language isn't available. See the privacy policy for details

• Capture the other side of a Zoom or Google Meet call from system audio
• Choose “microphone + system audio” to keep the other participants and your own voice in one transcript

• Interface, summaries, and translations in 22 languages. Transcription covers 10 languages with the Mac's built-in engines and all 22 with the included WhisperKit model

• Recording, transcribing, summarizing, and exporting are free
• Pro (a one-time in-app purchase) adds higher-accuracy engines, cloud models with your own API key, a second summary stream, importing audio and video files, export with elapsed times from the start of the recording (JSON / CSV / SRT), and pop-out windows for the summaries
Requires macOS 26 or later on an Apple silicon Mac (M1 or later). 8 GB of memory is enough for the built-in engines.
Automatically generated transcripts and summaries may contain errors or inappropriate wording. Please record only with the consent of the people involved.
Ratings & Reviews
- This app hasn’t received enough ratings or reviews to display an overview.
- Fixed an issue where importing an audio file with a cloud transcription engine (OpenAI) could stop partway.
- You can now change the transcription engine, language, and Stream 1/2 settings directly in the import confirmation sheet.
- If transcription stops partway, Otonota now tells you and records the remaining range (you can regenerate it with "Re-transcribe with another engine").
- Reordered the items in Settings > Audio.
