When you are away from home, the app reaches your device through Otto's encrypted relay. Messages are end-to-end encrypted, so there are no ports to forward, no VPN to configure, and nothing readable in between. Sign in with a passkey or with Apple.

If you want privacy (vs muse) , simplicity (vs running openclaw on your hardware) and an always-on 24/7 background agent running from your home network with zero command-line maintenance, mobile push observability, and high resistance to cloud VM web blocks.. this is it. It is a startup and we just got the first batch but problems are minimal so far, app is updated fast and the founders are very responsive. Exciting times.

I’ve watched this product develop over several months, and the product being sold today is substantially different from what was originally advertised.Otto was initially presented as a roughly $499 Mac mini competitor capable of local AI inference. That proposition disappeared. More powerful hardware configurations were subsequently advertised, while the current Otto One is a low-powered NUC-style system that primarily runs the agent software while model inference is handled through cloud APIs.The current product appears to be largely a managed interface and routing layer around OpenClaw and external AI providers. Customers are being asked to pay a substantial premium for the hardware while still relying on paid cloud inference and Otto’s software infrastructure.For what the system currently does, I don’t see the value proposition. Much of the underlying functionality can already be assembled using open-source software, inexpensive hardware or a VPS, and existing AI services. As these tools continue improving, I expect even more of this functionality to become readily available without purchasing a proprietary hardware appliance.The concept is interesting, but the product I see today is very different from the local-inference hardware originally advertised, and I don’t think the current offering justifies its cost.

Meet the new Otto. Your agents, chats, files and tasks, all one tap away.
A NEW HOME
- Four tabs replace the side menu: Home, Chats, Tasks and Apps. Chats shows your unread count.
- Home is your front door: what's unread, your team of agents, and your Otto's own pages.
- Tap the Otto name at the top of Home to switch between Ottos. The gear opens Settings.
- Billing now lives in Settings, under Gateway.
- Maintenance notices appear as a card on Home, so you know ahead of time when Otto's servers will be briefly unavailable.
FILES
- Browse each agent's workspace, open files right in the app, and move files of any size to and from your Otto. Transfers pick up where they left off.
- The + in the chat composer attaches files that are already on your Otto.
TASKS AND TO-DOS
- To-dos are now scheduled work in Tasks. Your agent can commit to doing something later, and you can see what's coming up, what ran and how it went.
- Edit a to-do's instructions in place.
- Recurring work keeps running even if one run fails or gets stuck.
- Task details show tool results in plain language instead of raw data.
AGENTS
- Each agent now has its own approval mode and Always allowed list, set on the agent's Access tab.
- Automations act as their agent and follow its approvals.
- An agent whose name or persona says what it's for offers a few starter prompts in an empty chat.
CHATS
- Projects and @ mentions help you organize conversations and point a message at the right agent.
- Hold a message to see which model answered and open its details.
- When your agent needs you to sign in to an app, the sign-in card picks the work back up once you're done.
- If you answer while your agent is still replying, your answer lands under the question it belongs to.
REPORT A PROBLEM
- Shake your phone, or go to Settings, to send us a report. Attach up to three screenshots and a video. You see everything that will be sent before you press Send.
FIXES
- Joining Wi-Fi during setup no longer crashes the app on iPhone.
- The Wi-Fi network list shows again during setup.
- Pairing finishes even if your Otto's reply gets lost along the way.
- A stopped reply no longer repeats its text.
- Links in chat open when tapped.
- A sign-in you abandoned no longer blocks the next one.
- Closing a window or switching apps no longer freezes the screen.
- Approving a new phone no longer crashes the chat.
