Most weather apps make you choose: a few big numbers, or a wall of them. I built Forecast Friends to give you all the data in a unique design you can take in at a glance. One chart shows the next 24 hours: sun, moon, clouds, rain, and storms over temperature and wind. When rain is near, the next hour is charted minute by minute. Tap any of the next nine days to see it hour by hour. When you want more, it goes deeper, from true dawn and dusk to the Milky Way and 30 years of past weather. And when you just want the gist, the next four days are drawn as a cartoon. Add any place you care about, preview it before you save it, and keep your own location pinned at the top. EVERY CARD, IN DETAIL • Current conditions, feels-like temperature, high, and low • Nine-day forecast, with any day hour by hour at a tap • Wind speed, gusts, and direction • Humidity, dew point, and pressure • UV, cloud cover, air quality, and pollen • Sunrise, sunset, moonrise, and moonset • Tide curves for U.S. coastal locations RADAR AND MAPS Every card opens a map with radar, satellite, precipitation, lightning, temperature, feels-like, wind, air quality, and severe-weather alerts (U.S.). Tap an alert on the map to read it. The full-screen map adds: • Radar from the past hour to two hours ahead • Animated wind particles • Snow and snow depth • Wildfires, fire outlook, and smoke • Hurricane tracks, forecast cones, and tropical warnings • Tap anywhere for a readout in your units ALERTS THAT MATTER Every card shows active official weather alerts at a glance. Free push alerts warn you about severe weather and rain starting where you are, and a Live Activity follows the rain right on your Lock Screen. Premium adds severe-weather warnings for your saved locations. More than a cute weather app!

I’ve been having so much fun with this app. I added friends and family in different places, and every day they get their own weather cartoon with a different animal based on where they live. It’s genuinely fun checking in to see what animal my friend in New Zealand gets, what’s happening in Miami, and what shows up for me.But the maps have actually been surprisingly useful, too. I was looking at the premium map with the airflow and noticed fires nearby and how the wind was moving. That tipped me off that smoke was probably heading my way, even though other weather apps were still showing good air quality for my area. Sure enough, the air quality got worse.That’s what I really like about Forecast Friends: it’s playful and fun, but there’s a lot of serious weather data underneath it. I can check on the people I care about, get a laugh from the daily cartoons, and actually dig into what’s happening with the weather when I want to.

I’m loving this app. I’m an animal lover so the icon grabbed my attention. The cartoons are so much fun to view. I’ve been adding cities just to see what animals are local to the areas. The only negative is when I look at countries that use Celsius, the cartoon speaks in Celsius even though I have selected Fahrenheit in settings. Not a huge deal, just an observation. Other than that it’s a lot of fun!

Love the amount of data I can see at once. Cartoons are fun and actually useful. The premium maps fire layer is useful. Pollen is rare in these types of apps so I’m happy to see it here.

• Ready for iPhone Duo! • Hour by hour for the next 9 days: tap "Hourly" or any day in the 9-day forecast to see each day's sky, clouds and rain. • The next hour, minute by minute: when rain is on its way, your card shows when it starts and how heavy it will be. • This date in past years: see how today's high and low compare with the last 30 years (US locations; turn it on in Settings). • For sky watchers: true sun and moon heights, real dawn and dusk times, moon and dark hours, and when the Milky Way core is up. Each is an option in Settings. • A new Sky widget shows the next 12 hours of sky: sun, moon, clouds and rain. • Preview any location before you add it. • Weather alerts for your current location are now free.
