New in 2.1: mute individual apps in your recordings, so music, chat and notifications stay out of your clips. Plus a new audio mode at a glance on Home.
ReplayCap is a menu bar instant-replay clipper that saves moments after they happen.
It continuously buffers the last 15 seconds to 5 minutes of your screen and audio. When something worth keeping happens, press a hotkey and ReplayCap saves it as an MP4. If you have used instant replay on a gaming PC, you will feel right at home.
FEATURES
• Instant replay and sessions: Save the last 15 to 300 seconds on demand, or record full sessions until you stop.
• Extended replay: Roll 5, 10, or 30-minute replay windows to disk for longer capture history.
• Automatic game capture: Start recording automatically when a game launches and stop when you quit.
• Dual-display and priority handling: Capture two monitors side by side or as separate files, or rank preferred screens for automatic fallback across wake and docking changes.
• Hardware-accelerated encoding and HDR: Record smooth HEVC or H.264 video up to 60 fps, with optional 10-bit HDR capture on Apple silicon and full Retina pixel resolution.
• Flexible audio: Record system audio, microphone input, or a single selected app, merged into one track or saved as separate tracks inside the MP4.
• Built-in clip library and editor: Preview, trim, crop (with 16:9, 1:1, 4:3, and 9:16 presets), resize to 1080p or 720p with a live file-size estimate, or export as GIF.
• Custom workflow: Configure global hotkeys, capture profiles, quality presets, and file-name templates.
STAYS OUT OF YOUR WAY
• ReplayCap lives in your menu bar and writes standard MP4 files straight to disk. A live badge shows recording state and buffered duration so you always know when it is ready.
• Set ReplayCap to launch at login and start buffering automatically, and it stays quietly in the background until you hit save.
PRIVATE BY DESIGN
• ReplayCap runs entirely offline on your Mac. Every recording saves directly to a local folder you choose as a standard MP4 file that belongs to you.
GREAT FOR
• Gamers: Save the boss fight, goal, or clutch win right after it happens.
• Bug hunting: Capture intermittent bugs the first time they happen.
• Streamers and creators: Pull highlights straight into short clips ready to share.
• Anyone who has ever said, "I wish I had been recording that."
Screen Recording permission is required.

Possibly the best game capture app
Stec
OCTOBER 2026: 2.0 was a big update. The built-in clip library is very welcomed including a nice ‘cleanup’ feature to quickly remove old clips, convert to GIF, trim, etc. all right on the spot! This is the best kept secret for any Mac gamer who likes to even occasionally capture gameplaySEPTEMBER 2026: Great first impression of ReplayCap. Solo developer, very responsive to any questions or issues. So far it does exactly what it’s supposed to do…always capture the most recent few minutes of gameplay so you can hit a hotkey and save that funny or cool moment that just happened. Saves the video file locally. Look forward to putting it through it’s paces.
Developer Response
Thank you so much for your positive review! If you ever want to see a feature added into ReplayCap, please let me know! As well as any bugs you run into!
Mute individual apps in your recordings, and do much more from your phone with the ReplayCap Companion app.
COMPANION APP
• Audio mixer: set the microphone and system audio volume from your phone, mute or unmute individual apps, or unmute them all at once.
• Capture setup: switch the captured display and apply a capture profile from your phone.
• More clip actions: Trim opens a clip in Trim & Export on your Mac, and Copy puts it on your Mac's clipboard.
AUDIO
• Mute specific apps in recordings. Settings > Audio has a new Mute Application Audio section listing your running apps. Muted apps stay out of the replay buffer and session recordings, and changes apply while you're recording.
• Home now shows the system audio mode. Hover to see which apps are muted, or click to open Audio Settings.
LAUNCH AND MENU BAR
• Startup is now two settings in Settings > General: On launch (open the main window, or stay hidden in the menu bar) and Open window to (Home, Clip Library, Settings or the last page you viewed).
• New Open ReplayCap item in the menu bar.
• The menu bar shows "Buffer Not Running" if you try to save a replay while the replay buffer is off.
FIXES
• Fixed saving a clip with both microphone and system audio failing when one of them was silent.
• Fixed ReplayCap sometimes opening its main window when it launches at login.
• Clicking outside a clip's Quick Preview now closes it.
