- Hiragana y katakana completos
- Las primeras clases y 38 kanji básicos

more New: classes 21 to 25, with a new story: the big match, Noa's birthday, lost in Nara, Hana's move and goodbye to Kimura. Also, the checker accepts more correct answers (katakana or hiragana, romaji typed all together) and marks small slips as "Almost".

What's new in 2.2:
- Memorize: learn each lesson's words in small groups, in three steps (Recognize, Recall and Check). When you finish, the group moves into your Today review. And take a test on the groups you choose.
- Mnemonics: a funny sentence to remember every word, in English and Spanish. Show them on tap, always or never. With the dojo, write your own.
- Your lists: create lists from Training, Weak, the Library or the end of a quiz with "Send to Memorize", and edit them whenever you like.
- Classes 16 to 20, with Nico and Noa's story in Osaka and new voices.
- Lessons 34 and 35: 83 new words with audio. That's 1,438 now.
- Verbs: every verb shows its group, its dictionary form and its て form; in orange, the ones that look like one group and belong to the other.
- The kanji card: words from the course with their reading, meaning and audio, and the kun and on readings with a speaker.
- "I don't know" in Memorize: it gives you the answer and its mnemonic.
- Check: the translation highlights the word you're looking for.
- "Skip" to skip the welcome.
- Lots of fixes in the audio, the answer checking and the English version.

What's new in 2.1:
- Lessons 31, 32 and 33: 131 new words, their grammar, new dojo patterns, and the volitional and imperative forms in the Verbs room.
- Classes 11 to 15 with a new story: Nico and Noa start their year in Osaka with Hana, Kenta and Kimura.
- The pitch line: every word shows above it how its accent rises and falls, so you sound like Tokyo.
- All Japanese audio re-recorded: more natural, with rising questions and the right readings.
- New Halloween skin: おばけ (obake).
- Never kanji alone: every word and sentence with kanji shows its reading next to it.
- Example sentences that only use what you've seen, with audio, and a button to show or hide them.
- A simpler "Before you start"; in Today, the direction on a single row.
- "Most missed" and "Weak" with an (i) that explains how words get in and out.
- Fairer checking: を accepted as お, "o" or "wo"; "Almost" when a particle is missing or you type the dictionary form; never two right options.
- Your progress is saved with every answer.
- Lots of fixes in Listen, in the classes and in the English version.
2.1 Oct 5
- Dojo: answers typed with kanji are now accepted with any of their readings (スペイン人, 日本人, 三人…). Some correct answers used to be marked wrong.
- New "Before you start" screen before every session (Quiz, Flashcards and Listen): which words, word type, direction, how you answer and how many questions. It's the same wherever you start from: Today, a lesson or Training.
- Cleaner Training tab: the lesson, kanji and kana maps, with every option in "Before you start".
- Fixed: Training couldn't scroll after coming back from a quiz.
- Fixed an example sentence: Noa is a student, not a teacher.
2.0.2 Sep 30
Dojo improvements: in Adjectives, "Before the noun" and "Join" now use pairs that make sense, each with its translation ("a cheap watch", "The room is spacious and bright"). The travel map in the first class is more accurate. And in Yūgen, cards and buttons are easier to read.
2.0.1 Sep 29
New: the sensei is here. The app now teaches you: guided classes that follow the Minna no Nihongo lessons, with a story running through them. Paul and Mónica arrive in Japan with their dogs Siena and Luna, and every grammar point happens inside the story: meeting Kimura-san, welcoming Marco, who comes to study, giving and receiving gifts… With animated scenes, Japanese audio on every sentence, and exercises that check what you type, in kana or romaji. The first classes are free and yours to keep, and more are coming.
New: practice after every class. "Practice today's lesson" gives you exercises from that class only, and what you miss comes back in "Review from your classes".
New: lessons 29 and 30. Their vocabulary, grammar and dojo practice sentences. That makes 1,224 words, each with its audio and an example sentence. And on Today, "Hard for you": the words you struggle with most, one tap away.
New: everything speaks. Dojo sentences and grammar examples now have audio, with two voices. It only plays when you tap.
Improved: a cleaner look in the dojo, on the cards and in the Training filters.
2.0 Sep 28
Fixed: Listening could stall halfway through a session. If a clip started and never finished, the session hung; it now carries on by itself. It also resumes on its own when another app — your running app, the navigation — stops talking, and tells you when another app has taken the audio instead of going silent.
Fixed: if you had the dojo, updating the app could lock you out. Access is no longer lost on update.
Fixed in the dojo: the potential room and the 〜たいです form marked correct answers as wrong. The question was asked in the polite form and the plain form was required. Both are accepted now.
Fixed: twenty-eight words shared the same translation with different Japanese, so some questions could not be answered correctly.
And the audio for several short words has been re-recorded.
1.9.1 Sep 17
290 kanji, and a dojo to learn them. The 100 from the course plus the 190 from the dossier, with their readings, meanings and examples.
The kanji dojo now has four doors, the same as kana: Learn, Write, Read and Words. Pick the groups you want, drop the kanji you don't, and the ones you know least come first.
Writing is checked stroke by stroke and tells you why, instead of erasing without a word. With a strictness level you choose in Settings.
And in Training, picking kanji is readable at a glance: every group with its mastery, plus a "due today" button so you don't have to choose at all.
Also:
· The kanji and kana quizzes now save your progress and feed spaced repetition, just like vocabulary.
· Fixed: the app could close when picking a file to restore a backup.
· "Restore purchases" now tells you what happened instead of staying silent.

1.8.1 Sep 14
New guided practice phrases for lessons 21–28. Verb dojo: clearer conjugation practice and several fixes. Kana dojo improvements. Fixes a crash that prevented the app from opening on some devices. Thanks for studying with Nihongo Sensei!
1.8 Sep 10
Kana Dojo: learn hiragana and katakana row by row, the way you do in class. See and hear, trace the strokes with your finger (beta), recognize, write, and read words from the book with the kana you already know. Free.
Complete verb conjugation: ます, ません, ました, ませんでした, plain forms, potential, ~たい, ~ましょう, ~たら and more, each with its rule and lesson.
Adjectives with classroom names: present, present negative, past, past negative. な-adjectives in brackets, as in the book.
Setting to hide romaji. Word-type filters in every lesson. Listening now respects the lessons you tick.
Audio: 63 clipped recordings regenerated and quiet voices fixed.
1.7 Sep 7

Aki, a fourth skin for autumn, in light and dark.
New welcome videos across all four skins, and a better layout on iPad.

1.6 Sep 2
Listen: a new mode to study hands-free, with the screen off. All 994 words with audio, both directions, now also in English, with lock-screen controls.
Fixed 23 cards that could never be marked correct.
Kana now accepts "nn" and Kunrei spellings (si, ti, tu, hu).

THE DOJO
Studying is not enough. Now you practise.
Six rooms to train what you have already seen in the course.
· Verbs — all four forms, and the rule you need when you get one wrong
· Adjectives and nouns — is, is not, was, and how they go before a noun
· Sentences — the lesson's pattern, with the verb in the form it asks for
· Kana — the whole of hiragana and katakana, and the pairs everyone confuses
· Listening — hear it, write what you heard
· Numbers — from zero to a million, including the readings that change
My rules shows you what you are weak at and what you no longer get wrong.
Plus audio: over a hundred words regenerated and checked one by one.
1.4 Aug 26
A new voice for all the Japanese in the app. Words and example sentences are now recorded with a natural voice: the same on every phone, and offline.
• Choose a woman's or a man's voice
• Slow the audio down right from the study screen, no settings needed
• New button to report a problem
Before, each phone used its own speech engine — on many it sounded wrong, or nothing played at all.
1.3 Aug 21
Minor fixes. The info screen now shows the correct app version.
1.2.1 Aug 16
Reviews
- Today's session no longer comes out of the same block of words. It now mixes words from every level and every due date, so two sessions in a row won't repeat a single one.
- Getting a word wrong no longer drops its level on the first miss. You have to miss it twice in a row, and one correct answer in between clears it. A word you've known for weeks won't sink because of one slip.
- Levelling up takes half as many correct answers. Progress actually moves.
- And weak words leave the list as soon as you get them right once.
Progress
- The progress screen reads at a glance: words are split into Starting out, On the way and Weak, and all three numbers move as you study. Before, almost everything fell into a single group and progress was invisible.
- The N0–N5 labels are gone — they clashed with the JLPT levels.
- The home screen no longer shows how many reviews you've piled up. Just today's.
If you've just started
- The app tells you where to begin, how many words the lesson has and how long it takes, instead of showing you a screen full of zeros.
- While a lesson is unfinished, that's what you see first.
- And it explains, once, that reviews come back on their own and new words are learned by opening a lesson.
Quiz
- Words are now accepted without the polite prefix: べんとう works for お弁当, かね for お金. Family terms still keep their distinction, because there the difference is the lesson itself.
- Fixed the answer field staying selected when answering with the Japanese keyboard.
- Skipped words now show in amber, the same colour the app uses to count weak ones.
Content
- Eleven meanings corrected that were giving the answer away: some spelled the word out in romaji inside the explanation, others gave its kana reading.
- "Due" is now called "To review", which is what it means.
1.2 Aug 14
What's new
- Flashcards: new "Test yourself" mode. Swipe each card to sort it into what you know and what you don't, with a counter and undo.
- Training is now a single screen, simpler and without options that got in the way.
- The lesson view and the quiz are cleaner: fewer rows, fewer categories that added nothing.
Quiz improvements
- With the keyboard open you can see the prompt, the answer field and the buttons at the same time. The top bar, with the counter and the exit button, never disappears.
- Kanji are shown at full size, never clipped.
- The kanji quiz accepts any of the valid meanings: if a word has several, you no longer have to type them all.
Content
- Hiragana and katakana tables are aligned in columns, the way they appear in a textbook.
- Meanings are shown in full, including the notes that tell similar words apart.
- Several romaji corrections in the example sentences.
1.1 Aug 8
Fixes for small screens: when you miss an answer, the correct word is now always visible with the keyboard open. Spacing and typing stability improvements.
1.0.2 Aug 5
This update is mostly about grading you correctly.
- Romaji now accepts the different valid spellings of the same word:
shutchou, shucchou, syuttyou and shutchō are all accepted.
- Fixed romaji spacing on compound verbs.
- Lesson view now returns you where you were.
- More reliable audio and speech.
- Full in-app help, in Spanish and English.
- Much clearer Quiz / Flashcards selector.
- Colours, contrast and spacing reviewed throughout.
- Vocabulary data corrections.
1.0.1 Aug 4
New: classes 21 to 25, with a new story: the big match, Noa's birthday, lost in Nara, Hana's move and goodbye to Kimura. Also, the checker accepts more correct answers (katakana or hiragana, romaji typed all together) and marks small slips as "Almost".
