Seraph is new and free while we earn our first reviews. It runs your plan through thousands of futures, taxes included, and your data stays private on your phone.
When can I retire? How much can I spend?
Your retirement will only happen once: one market, one lifespan, and nobody knows which. Seraph runs thousands of possible versions of it and shows you where your plan holds up and where it breaks. Every run is priced through the US tax code, federal and state, and the answer comes back as odds: your chance of staying solvent, to your target age and for as long as you live.
Built by an actuary, on the models banks use for markets and insurers use for lifespans.
FREE FOR EARLY ADOPTERS
Seraph is new, and the full app is free while we earn our first reviews. Advanced features may move to a subscription later, but early users get everything now. If you find a bug or want a feature, write to us from the Support screen in Settings, and you will hear back from the person who wrote the code.
PLAN YOUR WHOLE FINANCIAL LIFE
• Income, expenses, 401(k), Roth, and HSA accounts, pensions, stocks, real estate, mortgages and other debt, cash
• Couples in full: two lifespans, survivor benefits, spousal rollovers, and the tax change when filing status switches
• Social Security with claim age math from 62 to 70, cost of living increases, survivor rules, and the taxation of benefits
• Healthcare in three phases: employer coverage, the pre-Medicare gap, then Medicare including IRMAA surcharges
• Life events: sell or buy a home, move states in retirement, pay off the mortgage early, de-risk your portfolio, windfalls, college, a new child
• Considering a lifetime annuity? The app prices the quote against mortality tables and current market rates, the insurer's cut included, so you can see what you are paying for
SIMULATE THOUSANDS OF FUTURES
• A multi asset market model (US and international stocks, bonds, REITs, cash), not a single straight line return
• The 2026 US tax code: federal plus all 50 states and DC, capital gains, NIIT, RMDs, payroll taxes, the new senior deduction
• Roth conversion strategies, 401(k) contributions and employer match, even SEPP 72(t) early retirement withdrawals
• Life expectancy fitted to you: answer 10 quick questions about health and lifestyle and your plan runs on the Seraph longevity model, not just an average
UNDERSTAND WHAT MATTERS
• One clear answer: the chance your plan survives
• Insight cards read your results and flag the moves worth a look: Roth conversion headroom, pretax vs Roth contributions, Medicare surcharges, your first RMD, Social Security timing, survivor taxes
• Sensitivity analysis ranks the levers (inflation, returns, spending, retirement age) by how much they move your outcome
• Compare scenarios side by side, lock one in as your plan, and track your net worth against it in the Journal
• A home screen widget keeps your success rate and plan progress in view
• A calm, focused design, with text that scales with your device's text size settings
PRIVATE BY DESIGN
Your financial data stays on your device, with automatic backup to your own private iCloud. There is no account to create, no sign up, and no ads, and nothing that identifies you or your finances ever leaves your phone. To make the app better we count which features get used, anonymously and never your numbers, and you can switch that off in Settings. An optional Face ID lock keeps your plans private even if someone borrows your phone.
Seraph is a planning tool, not financial advice. Projections are estimates based on the assumptions you enter, not predictions or guarantees. For decisions about your money, consult a qualified professional.
This app fills a gap left by many calculators. Demonstrates the impact of many planning decisions in clear way. You can learn strategies available to you by playing around and comparing scenarios. Don’t know whether to covert to Roth or when to start, just run a comparison. Want to know if moving to smaller home can help, run a comparison. It includes models of things that are enormously difficult to estimate like home insurance costs, property taxes, medical bills, Medicare income penalties. It crashes when I try to delete a life event. It would be even better with:1. 401k multiple matching levels. 2 HSA, spending strategies: pay medical expense first, or use medical receipt banking to create a tax advantaged emergency fund..3 Finer granularity on how excess money gets invested. Do I up my my 401k? Roth or pre tax? And so on. Can I save cash until HSA + cash = minimum emergency value, or just cash, and then do Roth conversions?
Developer Response
Wow thank you for the detailed feedback. Got lucky that I was nearing the next big release and I was able to fit in critical items from this list (including delete buttons in addition to swipe to deletes that I had before). New version is live, please update!
Very helpful!
