Honedown is a fast, lightweight image compression tool for macOS. Browse for images, see a live preview as you adjust quality, and compress. Real-time before-and-after file size comparisons show exactly how much space you save. Open Honedown, select images, set your preferred quality with the slider, pick an output format, and hit Compress. Every file shows its original size, compressed size, and savings percentage so you know exactly what you are getting. Honedown handles format conversion too. Convert PNG to JPEG for smaller web images, HEIC to PNG for universal compatibility, or any combination of PNG, JPEG, HEIC, and TIFF. The quality slider starts at your original quality and goes down from there, giving you precise control over the size and quality tradeoff for JPEG and HEIC. EXIF metadata control is built in. Keep your camera data, GPS coordinates, and timestamps intact, or strip them out for privacy. The toggle sits right in the settings panel. Honedown never touches your originals. Compressed images are written as new files, and if a name is already taken it adds a number rather than overwriting anything.
