Chess64 2.0.0 brings your coach! YOUR COACH (Pro) The coach reads your games, puzzles and drills and writes an analysis: five areas to work on, over any period you choose, with an export to PDF. It is written by the AI model on your phone and nothing leaves your device. The coach needs iOS 26 or later; everything else works on iOS 17 as before. NEW TO CHESS? A free beginner guide now lives on the home screen. It starts at the very beginning, needs no experience, and is free for everyone. This will get updates going forward. AND THE POLISH The analysis arrives with its own choreography, Stats answers in the coach's own words, Training and Settings screens were refined throughout.

Chess64 now has a library of openings, and the traps hiding inside them. Pick one and walk its main line on the board, or follow a branch. The next move is drawn as an arrow until you turn it off, and from any position you can play on against a bot. The traps are the interesting part. Each runs from the first move, through the mistake, to the moment it wins a piece or the game, so you see how the whole thing works and not just the trick at the end. Every one has been checked by a chess engine before it ships, the same as the puzzles. Drill a trap and it joins your review queue alongside the mate puzzles, coming back when they do. The Training tab now shows what is due today and what is coming over the week, and the library remembers where you got to. The openings library is part of Chess64 Pro, along with the rest of Training. Plus the usual fixes, and smoother animations.

Introducing Pass and Play! Play a full game with your opponent on one device, and it is free. Decide first how you are sitting: leave the board where it is, turn it between moves so whoever is to play is always nearest, or keep it still and turn only the black pieces so each of you reads your own men the right way up. Play with a clock or without one, and start a game a piece up or a piece down. A draw takes two: one player offers it, the other accepts or refuses. None of it is added to your record, your streak or your statistics. Afterwards the review walks the game move by move and grades both players side by side: the tactics that were there, which of them each of you found, and where the game turned. The review is part of Chess64 Pro, exactly as it is after a game against a bot. Also in this version: general improvements to animations and the chess engine.
