DASH MODE Turn the phone sideways in a mount and the drive screen becomes a display you can read at a glance: your flow score, big, plus distance and time. Five instruments to choose between — a needle on a cream dial, a row of segments with shift lights, or just the number — and three of them unlock as you level up. Garage, Dash instrument. Speed stays off while you are moving, same as it always has been. It is a private number on your summary, never something to watch while driving. WEEKEND RUN One objective every driver in the world gets at the same time, Friday to Sunday, worth 400 XP. It shows up on your Today screen with a countdown, and mid-week it counts down to Friday so you can see it coming. NOTIFICATIONS THAT ACTUALLY ARRIVE If your streak is about to break you now get one message, on the evening it matters, in time to do something about it. Nothing fires for something you have already done. INVITE FRIENDS Your driver code now has a screen of its own, with a share button and a count of everyone who started with it. FIXED A location someone shares in a chat opens on YOUR map instead of sending you to another app. The Social tab carries a count so you can see when something is waiting. And profile pictures stop disappearing after an update — they now live somewhere iOS leaves alone, and anyone whose picture already vanished gets it back.

Zones can be filtered by what you feel like driving, and Garage is one clean instrument cluster instead of six boxes of zeros. The whole app now speaks 14 languages, properly. Speed is never ranked. It never will be.

Meet your co-driver. He sets you up in your language, asks your name and what you drive, then walks you round the app in about thirty seconds. Ghost drivers now wander your city between drives, so the map has someone in it before you've painted a single street. Tap one and they'll say something. They're simulated, the app says so, and there's a switch to turn them off. Name a road you like and give it a colour, and it paints that colour on your map — every run of it, both directions. Your saved routes collect at the top of the Drives tab. New cities: eight across New Zealand and nine across Mexico. That's 230 cities and more than 2,200 challenges in total. A few short sounds for coins and zones, so you can keep your eyes on the road. They never play over your music and the ring switch silences them. The whole app speaks 14 languages. MULTIPLAYER See your friends and crew-mates on the map while you drive. Sharing stays off until you turn it on, it only runs during an actual drive, and only people you've accepted as friends or share a crew with can ever see you. Your position disappears by itself three minutes after you stop.
