Wispframe - Screen Recorder - records your screen at 4K60 using less than 1% CPU. Drive it from an AI agent over MCP, or from the command line. Most screen recorders take 15–30% of your processor and heat the machine up while you work. Wispframe hands frames straight from the GPU to the hardware encoder — the pixels never touch the CPU. Your fans stay quiet, your battery lasts, and whatever you are recording keeps running at full speed. RECORD ANYTHING • Any display, any window, or a region you draw • 2–9 sources composed onto one canvas • System audio and microphone, mixed live • Your iPhone as a webcam, or any USB camera • Picture-in-picture while you record POLISH WITHOUT AN EDITOR • Studio: gradient or image backdrops, rounded corners, drop shadow • Automatic cursor-tracked zoom with click-highlight rings • Automatic subtitles, transcribed on-device • Upscale and sharpen, on-device • Text and emoji burned in • Trim, speed ramps, GIF export REDACTION THAT STICKS Blur or black out a region — or track and hide every face automatically. The change is baked into the pixels, so there is nothing to undo and nothing to recover from the file you share. CRASH-PROOF BY CONSTRUCTION Frames are written as they arrive. Pull the power mid-recording and the file you already captured is still there and still plays. DRIVEN BY YOUR SCRIPTS — AND YOUR AI A full command-line interface, plus an MCP server so an AI agent can record, compose and export for you. Every capture still asks your permission first. PRIVATE BY DEFAULT Nothing is uploaded. No account, no sign-in, no analytics, no telemetry. Transcription and background removal run on your Mac. FREE, AND PRO WHEN YOU NEED IT Recording is free and unlimited — no time limit, no watermark on recordings. Exports from the editing tools carry a small corner watermark on the free tier. Wispframe Pro removes it: $29.99 per year, or $79.99 once, forever. Requires macOS 14 and Apple Silicon. Wispframe Pro (Annual) is an auto-renewing subscription: $29.99 per year, charged to your Apple Account. It renews automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the current period ends. Manage or cancel it in System Settings > Apple Account > Subscriptions. Wispframe Pro (Lifetime) is a one-time $79.99 purchase and does not renew. Improved — Recordings are no longer scaled. Every capture is now taken at the display's true pixel size and left there, because scaling is the single largest quality loss in the pipeline and the app was doing it by default: a 4K display asked for a fixed 1080p output was recorded once and then squeezed, and multi-source recordings were laid out on a canvas smaller than the sources they held. Native is now what the app opens on, every launch, for a single recording and for the merged canvas alike. Improved — The canvas picker says what each choice does. Picking a size now tells you, under the controls, whether your sources fit at their own size or how far they are shrunk, and it names the exact canvas Native builds. Nothing about the size is silent any more. Improved — Export for sharing. The recording stays the master; the new Export button beside each recording writes a smaller copy at 4K, 1440p, 1080p or 720p, scaled once with an area filter chosen for keeping screen text readable. You can rename the copy and choose the folder it goes to. Fixed — The elapsed-time timer never appeared on camera and mobile-screen recordings. It was baked onto display recordings only, silently, with nothing saying why. Fixed — The Camera and mobile screen tab made the app slow. Opening it froze the app for about a second, and simply sitting on it cost real battery: it kept a full screen-mirroring session open on a connected iPhone just to draw a thumbnail, and it was scanning every open window four times a second to check whether Photo Booth was running. It now opens instantly and is quiet. Fixed — Start recording with a shortcut. Command-Shift-. now starts a recording as well as stopping one, and the menu bar shows a recording is running and for how long, so you can start and stop without going to find the window. Fixed — Merge live ignored the "Record Wispframe window" switch and always recorded the app's own window into the merge. Fixed — In Multi mode, the single-source tick stayed lit underneath the numbered badges, and turning Multi off left the sources selected. Fixed — Exporting a recording whose file had been moved or deleted ran the whole job and then failed with an unreadable path. It now says which recording is gone, before starting. Improved — GIF export offers 2 and 5 frames per second, for the kind of GIF that is a few frames of a step rather than a video. Improved — A referral code now works on at most three Macs. A code is good for one day, but the Pro it hands out is not, so a code that got passed around for a single day used to be permanent free Pro for everyone who saw it. Redeeming now checks how many Macs a code has already been used on, and a code that has gone astray can be withdrawn. Nothing about you is sent: the check sees a one-way fingerprint of the code and of the Mac, never the code and never anything that identifies you. Redeeming needs a connection; nothing is used up if it fails.
